no, wordbuilder NI version does not support within host use, and the new PLAY version states that it doesn't work in FL. Just thought i'd answer this here since I don't often frequent that FL thread.

if they're old then they will not likely get many listens. No bandwith is wasted. If they are getting loads of attention then they make plenty through the ads on those songs to make up for it. You're not harming the site by keeping them. Now if you wanted them gone for other reasons sure, but taking up bandwith is not a good one.

Posted: 11/05/09 11:45 PM

well you nailed it. Trailer music is generic music with the pure intention of having impact. There is no other intention to it then to amplify the feeling of excitement, or make a movie trailer itself seem more interesting.

Why do they do it? Because the royalties you can get from a single trailer song can easily break into 6 digits. Music is a business, trailer music is just another branch.

well it's a good assumption. Not many mid teenagers who produce crap are going to belt out the several hundred Adobe Flash wants to keep producing crap. Same principle applies here.

I started off completely pirated, but now the studio is totally legit. Cost several thousand dollars along the way, don't regret a single penny (except for a few random libraries here and there)

Im still quite unsure of the creation of this group though, could you explain it a bit better to me so i can understand?

I'm a little lost on the question. Are you asking why we formed? The short answer to that is because we simply wanted to try and take ourselves further. Everybody in the group strides towards the simple goal of making it in the industry. And while the definition is simple we are ALL painfully aware how difficult that journey is.

@ Nathan.
The auto play thing was something I was aggressively debating with myself. I could never decide if I should have it or not. On one end it proves annoying if you're browsing other sites. On the other, it's a quick way of showing the potential client what you're capable of.

The auto play may or may not stay. I've tentatively put it on for now.

Thanks everybody for the warm wishes.

Hey guys! I wanted to make the audio forum the first place to publicly announce this. I felt it was only fitting since everything started here.

The NG centric team of composers has finally broken into the world of audio freelancing! For many months now we've been working in the backgrounds, dealing with jobs and networking as we went along. Friends gained, friends lost it's been a testing period since the beginning.

Some of you may know and remember how the first 2 renditions of the site was. The first unfocused, the second bizarre and unattractive. This time we've taken the time to refine it, to make sure we were all happy with it.

I want to show you all our home The Symphony of Specters!

Wish us luck, the real journey starts here.

haha, Darren man, you should be a sales person.

The KRK's also have these qualities to them, well at least I remember as such.

Can you vouch for their durability? I have been told they are slightly fragile. I mean I don't intend to move them once places so fragility is not entirely a concern for me but would just like to get your opinion on that matter.

haha, well, I guess i'm in. But... whoever I get, and likely i'll get somebody who likes teh technoos or untz untz dance, prepare to be bitterly disappointed by my crappy untz dancing production skillz.

I like only the melodic flow of french horns atop trombone chords jumping from major to minor all the effing time. The violins must play Dim7 when the trombones dip into a minor chord. It must modulate into different keys at what seems random but must still retain it's flow so not to sound like Solus' work. There must be cowbells, so many in fact it would confuse local shepherds around the world. Additionally if the erhu violin is not present none of it holds.

Anything less would ruin my christmas >:c

But on a more serious note I like sad melodic music. Sad ambiance, sad chill core, sad epic. Whatever, as long as it has an intimate feeling. I also appreciate highly aggressive but melodic work too. Dance/Progressive metal... orchestral i guess is an obvious one.

well that's way over my budget. I don't mind giving up amp control, I would prefer it. I like to listen to everything through studio/flat response hardware simply so i'm constantly being surrounded by mixes as they should sound without coloring.

I've had 3 people thus far tell me the KRK 5 are awesome and would recommend the KRK 6, I think I may just go with them.

I wish I was fortunate enough to have enjoyed his flashes as they came out. Too late I discovered them only through these harsh circumstances.

A damn shame. I am however very humbled too by the community. Only here at Newgrounds can the death of a contributor be felt so close to so many hearts.

RIP Ben, I hope they have a bug free version of Flash up there.

KRK RP6 G2 Pair
M-Audio BX8a Deluxe (Pair)
Fostex PMO.5MkII Pair

much thanks in advance.

Flash does not like midi files... at all. The way to make Flash read and recognize a Midi file is far more then makes it worth your while I can assure you. If you're saying you've got it all working and figured out I NEED to see the snippet of code you're using. It's nothing short of poetry in code form i'm sure.

Realistically if you want 4 loops, even at minimum size of 30 seconds if you go below 96kbs you're going to get some rather unpleasant artifacts. You're looking at nothing less then 1.4 - 1.5mb. At the opposite end of the specter, 4 loops of 60 seconds at 96 kbs will be 2.8 - 3.0mb.

A game of 3mb is very fair in today's standards. But keeping it below 1mb, if you want to have more then 1 loop of 30 seconds in audio is sadly impossible.

you can use a self distribution agent like www.createspace.com or www.cdbaby.com

I would recommend CD Baby. They take 9% of what you earn but they also have no fees and monthly membership like createspace does. They also take $4 per physical album sold but again this is better then createspace which takes $8.70

To boot using a service like cdbaby spreads your album to hundreds of other stores. Check the place out, it will be very useful to you.

I don't know why you guys are fighting loan so hard here. He's right, the audio license forbids commercial use.

OP will be breaking the law by using even AP songs.

And the TOS, EVEN if it's not been updated it doesn't mean shit, the official license under which the song downloaded takes priority. The TOS can say all songs you upload are now public domain but so long as you DOWNLOAD the file under the CC license, it is under CC jurisdiction.

As for that opening comment, i'm glad I don't have my material up right now, hell if i'd give you shit after an opener like that. What would you say if an audio author asks you to make a flash video for their song but "doesn't want to share the revenue" after? You'd get mighty pissed i'm sure. Grow some balls and drop the greed.

no, no matter how you play it as you go to one extreme the other will hate you. If you made the most amazing original songs you would still be hated by musicians who envy your talent. If you made generic songs and made millions of fans you would be hated by musicians who envy your popularity.

If you get nowhere fast and are constantly on the uphill battle all you need to do is listen closely to the chanting.

maybe you guys should take a few weeks to think about what would work rather then throwing files around eh? Bear in mind the last game (Castle Crashers) had a contest around it in which people created songs FOR the game. For this reason the music worked better FOR the game.

So slow the jets, watch the trailers and game play clips viewable at Dan's profile page. Think it over and create something really meaningful.

for good reason. Skull Candy is the very definition of epic failure for "studio" headphones. They color the mix, their response range is a freaking joke.

For the life of me i'll never understand how these toys of a headphone brand ever got big. I suppose looking good is the cornerstone to good business.
