The whole sound delay issue has been a common problem with flash for as long as I can remember.
It happens like this:
If my movie is more than a few minutes lone with multiple scenes and a handful of sound effects, after two minutes or so, the sound starts to become out of sync. For example, lets say I have someone shooting a gun. Once the sound delay starts, the sounds will play BEFORE (or in other cases after) the gun is fired. This screws EVERYTHING up.
Back in the day, when I was using Flash 8 on my PC, I discovered that the solution was to put all of the sounds into a MovieClip and place the movie clip into the scene. This strategy worked like a charm. The sounds were perfectly synced and it was flawless.
HOWEVER,
Now I'm using Flash CS5 on a Macbook Pro. When I use the movieclip strategy for my sounds, theres a much less dramatic sound delay, which is fine. The real problem though, is now when I test the whole movie (comprised of 3 scenes so far) the sound from each previous scene will play again in the next scene. Meaning if I had a song play throughout scene 1, it would then play itself again in scene 2, even though the movieclip for that song is only placed in scene 1.
All of my sounds are set for streaming.
So my question is: Is there a better, perhaps EASIER way to eliminate sound delays in CS5? I have a lot of music and sound effects that NEED to be synced correctly.
Insight on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Question about this, if permission were received from the user, are we able to use a cover of commercialized music from something like YouTube?

Send them to Deadpool175@aol.com
Didn't realize this thread had regained popularity. I'm about to go check out the samples I've received so far. Thanks everyone for your interest thus far. As of right now, I have one spot potentially filled. However, everyone is still welcome to try out for which ever character they please.
All the sample lines are in the post. Under the character's name, it says "LINE" with an example quote.
I'll keep an eye out for your email.
Hello everyone,
I have recently started a new project called "Madness Heist". It will, of course, be a Madness Day submission so it's still in the early stages of development. I figure this time around, I'll get all the voices done BEFORE animating dialogue scenes. Doing it the other way around was a pain in the ass, so I'm trying it this way.
Anyway, let's get right to the point. I'll list off the characters, how I'd like their voices to sound, and one or two sample lines...
RED (leader of the heist crew). His voice should emanate confidence. Think Neil McCauley from "Heat" (if you haven't seen Heat, Robert DeNiro plays this character).
LINE: Okay, people...we're here for the bank's money, not yours. You're all insured by the Federal Government. That being said, it is in all of your best interest to keep your heads down and stay quiet. We'll be out of here shortly.
BLUE (sort of like the second in command). Blue is very professional. He also demonstrates confidence, but is easily set off.
LINE: Promise me you'll find the asshole who sold us out.
ORANGE (demolitions expert). Orange is a sarcastic man of few words...literally. I think the line I'm posting here is his only line, so do with it whatever you like.
LINE: I don't know. I didn't exactly have time to count it.
EVANS (the villain of the story). Evans is relatively young (early 30's) and somewhat ignorant.
LINE: I trust you to do one thing: bring one of them back WITH THE MONEY! Shit, I wouldn't care if you let HIM get away, but THE MONEY TOO??!! Jesus.
There are other minor roles to be filled as well, but these are the ones I'm looking for currently. If you're interested, PM me or send your sample to my email:
I'm not going to put out a deadline, but PLEASE, the sooner the better. I'm more likely to cast you if I know you can be prompt.
Thanks in advance!

Hey guys. It's looking like we are all having trouble squeezing time in for this project. What I'm thinking, at this point, is we at least work on a full script and "shelve" the project so to speak or pass it to someone who has the time.
Thoughts?
Never mind guys. JUST found it. Man CS5 irritates me.
I just recently got Adobe Flash CS5. The last version of flash I had was Macromedia Flash 8 (ancient, I know). Anyway, I remember in CS5, I could fill something with a simple gradient and then manipulate the directions of that gradient with a simple tool. I can't seem to find that tool in CS5. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
For example:
I have a square and fill it with a black and white gradient. Black on the left, white on the right. Then I want to rotate that gradient so the black starts in upper left corner and the white starts in the bottom right corner.
Anyway, like I said, there was a tool in Flash 8 where I could do this easily. I don't know how to do it in CS5.
Thanks in advance.

We could use an animator, but don't you have like 6 projects lined up? Lol.

School work has really bogged me down recently, along with work.
As far as I know, the only "remaining" members of this collab are Travis, RabidAnimals, and myself. And from what I can remember, I believe all of us are writing/animating...I think.

Love to be a part of this collab!
Just awaiting an update from MOC.
ZoVies, considering your sign-up date, I'm not sure how much experience you have or how much you could bring to the table. If there is any way you could give me some insight on that, I'd be much more at ease.
In other news, you guys will be happy to know I am posting this on my new Macbook Pro, so production is just around the corner. I just have to get ahold of the adobe/mac software since everything I had previously was for windows. Should be taken care of in a day or two.
My part will be written sometime this week. Also, you never responded to my idea for the intro. Still sounding good?
Sorry. I thought I sent you a PM for some reason. It sounds like a solid idea, but lets worry about the writing process before we worry about stuff like that.
Hey guys. Sorry for my continuous delayed absences. I've been really busy. Just found out I got into Columbia and also started classes this week. It's been rough.
Anyway, I am getting a pretty decent tax return and SHOULD be able to get my Macbook pro sometime early next month. Any of you are more than welcome to write your parts at this point. I think we're at the point where we have all the details and can begin. I don't want us to even think about animating until the script and voices are done. However, pre-animation stage artwork is not a bad idea.
Again, sorry for leaving you guys hanging.
I meant more like as a production team.
Anyone up for the movie jam this month? I think it'd be a good exercise for our collaborative capabilities. And we'd only be working for 2 days tops.

Okay guys, today is my first full day off in a while. So I sat down and put together a two page "intro" script. It's brief, but I left it that way in case anyone wants to add to it. If everyone still involved wants to post their email addresses once more so I can send it to you, that'd be great.

A jam is a collaboration of people. The game jam includes audio people. But remember, this site is flash-based, so they aren't gonna really care about the audio. It's just like that =[
In that case, I'd love to participate as long as the workload is reasonable.
I think I'm working 10-6:30pm (US Central time) on saturday so I don't know if I can make that one. If that's the only time that works for you guys, Liquify can lead the discussion and I'll look over the notes afterward.
Also, what do you guys think of "Retrospect" for the title? I think it fits well considering it's about reflecting upon a past event.
I'm going to sound like a noob for asking this, but what exactly is a "jam"?
Hey guys. I'm just waiting for my W-2's to see how much money I'll be getting for my tax returns. That doesn't mean we can't start the script though.
As was suggested; I know we've done this 100 times, but we need a finalized roster. Since we're in the writing process right now, everyone interested in writing a part needs to respond in the forum stating that they will be writing and which character they are writing for. GO!
I agree with the above statement. I'll also add that work is a major factor with my schedule as well. I've been working alot more than usual. However, I should be back to my normal schedule in the next week or so.
Moving on...
Let's all hope I get a fair sum of money on my tax return because this newest project pretty much hinges on it. I need to purchase a Macbook Pro. Not only because it is more beneficial to the flash craft, but primarily because I need it for school. If and when I get my hands on that beast, I'll be able to work quickly and efficiently. So let's keep our fingers crossed.

Just went through it carefully. I like how you set up the tension between the men. I think there are one too many "your mother" jokes, but it's just an outline so no big deal. I don't think we need to go into detail about how they get inside, but I'm glad you put that in there. I thought Bruce missing his shot twice was hysterical. I think the comedy element here is great.
I also think instead of them escaping right away, there should be a quick shootout, just to give the audience a bit of a holdover in between all the dialogue. Maybe they kill the first wave of cops and get away before backup shows up.
Also, I think one of them should strongly disagree with killing the guard so we have more tension. Plus it gives someone a reason to tell their story differently.
Anyway, I thought the dialogue was great and its a good foundation for our characters. Well done.
Everyone read up so we can have another brainstorm session.
Hey guys. I only had time to skim through the script. Loved what I saw. I've been working non-stop this week so I want to try and devote some time to really sit down and read it carefully. I'll post more when I can.
Hey everyone. Quick update. Last time I checked, Liquify is working on a "what really happened" scene. When he finishes the script for that, we can all get to writing.

Um...yeah. Hence I said it's IN the "top 5".
Hey guys, sorry I'm late. I'll explain when I log in in two seconds. See you there.
arcaniel, you can be the host since you seem to know the most about it. Maybe post a walkthrough on here so we know how to pull everything up.
