Remember guys, atheism isn't a religion. It's the belief that there is no god. Atheism is the absence of religion if you think about it. "Atheism is no more a religion than not collecting stamps is a hobby." Can't remember who said that but I love it.
In fact, with many atheists it's not the belief that no god exists as much as it is that there is no evidence to suggest a god, therefore it makes the most sense to conclude there is no god. the best theories are those which can very easily be disproved, yet haven't been. The same can be said for the opposite, the worst theories are those that can be proven very easily yet haven't been.
Somebody said something about wanting to believe in nothing after death. I'd like to explain that it's not so much wanting to believe in nothing as it is a lack of the ability to believe in something without evidence, otherwise known as faith. We don't see any reason to believe something for which we have been presented no evidence. We are those that cannot simply will themselves to believe something, it's both a blessing and a curse. Sure it would be nice to believe in a magical world where the wicked are punished for their misdeeds in the afterlife, but that's where the realism comes in.
Anyway, seems to me he couldn't be all that Christian if you broke him just like that. It's generally a good idea to try to convert people to atheism when they're on the fence about the whole thing. Convincing a believer is impossible.
