First off sorry, the following website is in german, but I think you will get the point. Artists can promote their art there and even enter the prices they ask for it.

I saw the linked painting in real life, and there was a little price tag asking for even more (2400EU) than on this site (1800EU).

Check for yourself: http://www.artists.de/99293-schwarzer-sc hwung

Below the pic there are thumbnails of other pics by this artist. Some of them cost 6600EU and are basically just paint splats and brushstrokes.

Opinions please...

And yeah, some of us had the convo in stickam already.

Hmmmmm.... maybe something Brackenwood related, Leaping Bitey like on the shirt in the store or the Yuyu. How about Meatboy or something about The Sagittarian? Dunno if that has been done before though.

I always think about the Reincarnation series when it comes to Halloween. But I can't imagine, that this hasn't been done by someone yet.

Well i would have submitted something earlier, but two things stopped me from doing so, one was School, and the other was that my wacom broke (the nib got too short and I didn't replace it) anyways I made this today(starting from around 10:00) and finished it an hour ago. So here ya go:

I'm pretty sure I won't win, but I just felt like submitting something
Don't Know if you need a link to it, but I'll include it anyways.

I am not sure if it was a wise decision to make the skin and the sun almost the same colour. It is confusing the pic a little.

You should consider experimenting to see how it could look, like making the sun a tad bit darker (really not much) and you could probably try to add a little touch of red. Just to make the char stand out more infront of it.

Good luck.

This is coming along awesome! Just please don't put it in the portal until you brushed up and put as much details in it like you did on most of the armour and especially the arm.

Response to: Art Forum Lounge Posted September 30th, 2011 in Art

Meh let people ask for free stuff if they feel like it. Maybe you even come across something interesting enough that you actually want to draw it.

The "fuck you pay me" replies that bump these request thread are bothering me much more. Especially since there always seem to be others jumping the bandwagon and repeating whatever the first reply already said.

But on the other hand I can always simply ignore either, right?. I tend to ask for details though, mainly because I have the hope that it could be something interesting, even though the chances are always low.

hope dies last....

Hopefully I won't get the negative and childish reactions I got when posting about my flash demo's in the forums. For some reason people seemed to think it was against the forum rules to make a post asking about critique. Or at the very least bad form to make a post about it. Not sure why this would be acceptable for static art and not for interactive art, but I'll see how this works out.

Peace,

Kirl

It's a funny idea and I like the facial expression. It would be interesting to know what program you used to create it. And I must say the background is a bit too empty.

To be honest, your chances of getting this done for free are pretty low even in the request thread. But if you want to increase them slightly, you should at least give some more details.

What kind of buildings do you need? From what view? What about the size?

You could have more luck if you seriously team up with an artist you know, rather than just asking someone for "free art" basically. I know there's not much difference between these two approaches but that little difference is important.

Anyways, good luck with your project and maybe some more details can help you find someone.

Just a heads up. Things are done differently now. Since there is no longer a "Talk" and "Art" thread ...your contest entry MUST be in the Art Portal to be included in the judging. Which means you MUST be scouted.

Also, make sure your search tag is EXACTLY!!!! like this: calendar2012
If you click that and don't see your thumbnail, then neither will the judges!!!

k, good luck everyone :)

Too bad, that unscouted users can not take part like that.

I hope the redesign brings a search function for the unscouted section, so unscouted people can submit their art to contests.

I can't tell if I like it or not, or if I should redo it or what. Thanks.

That is my feeling exactly, I can't tell you if I like it or not either. I would not have recognized it as stained glass though. I think it depends on how you continue with it. What will be around it? Will you add some light "behind" the glass? And how will you do that light?

Sorry if this is not the response you were searching for but all these questions affect the question whether you should redo it or not. I'd say continue with it, although you will risk to spend even more time on something you probably have to redo later.

That's because the combination of the eagle and swastika was adopted by the Nazi party.
The original swastika was part of Hindu religion.

Actually the nazis created the combination of both since the eagle has been the heraldic animal of germany before already.

And it does not represent power or beauty to me but the death of more than 50 million people around the world.

What you have there is btw not just a simple combination of eagle and swastika but an actual "official" nazi symbol, which you posted twice for no apparent reason and most importantly did not create or "combine" yourself.

So are you really asking us if an official national socialist symbol symbolizes national socialism? Or are you just trying to offend people?

If you don't do your piece digitally, JKA simply wants you to use lined/notepad paper to draw on. As stated in the first post of this thread. That way, there is no need to use the template when you scan your piece. Just make sure you crop it to the right dimensions.

I hope this was an attempt to be funny. It came across as pure unjustified arrogance, since you yourself said more than once that one doesn't need to be a "brilliant artist" to see other people's mistakes. And it is not really necessary. If it was a joke, then I'm sorry, but it was a bit irritating.

As for the actual art, which we should focus on, it is great that you keep us updated with progress on it, nice to see how a pic comes together. I hope the colouring will help making the actual chars and the car stand out more from the background. The lineart looks cool so far.

It would be great if you could link us some of the stock images you used. It's really hard to give criticism without knowing what you exactly did with each part. All we can say is "looks good" or"looks bad" otherwise. It's especially difficult if you don't know a lot about making sigs, like I do.

I like the red-brownish (or gold?) one, but the latest pic you posted not so much.

Please don't worry if you don't get a lot of responses in a short time. It happens to everyone. Try asking for specific advice, if you need it.

About your art, you got some interesting stuff here.

At first I wanted to say that the hair on the dragon clashes with the rest of his body. But the more I look at it, the more I like how it turned out. Kinda weird, but good I think.

Generally the pics you posted so far look good but a bit unfinished. I like the last dinosaur pic the most so far. It could use a background though
