Congrats to the winners!

There was some impressive art throughout this tournament and of course in the final round. Well done!

I did not envy the judges for this one, they had a tough job.

And thanks TurkeyOnAStick for taking care of the last two rounds. I think it wasn't easy all of time.

So join in!!!

That idea is brilliant. I hope I can defeat my laziness for once and submit something.

I am sure it was kinda hard to start over after you spend so much time on the first one, but you did the right thing, respect. This one is coming along great. I especially like the paw.

Response to: The Icon Mod Crew Posted October 17th, 2011 in Clubs & Crews

Whenever I check this thread I see Bahamut, Travis and Heinrich (among others) doing that big pile of work. You guys really rock when it comes to moderating icons.

I will stick to checking random users that are online while double-checking if someone called them in here already, if that's ok.

I don't have much experience in it yet, but I have watched many tutorials. I've tried it first hand, but I feel as if I'm jumping into it too quickly. What are some simple exercises I can do for practice? With or without a tablet would be great.

Depends on your skill level, but you could always go far basic shapes. Draw a sphere, a cube and so on. It's good shading exercise and helps with both, your digital and traditional art. As for the tablet, many people not only use it for drawing but also for browsing and other tasks just to get used to it. Maybe that can help you too.

If you would like more detailed advice you could upload something you have drawn so people know how they can help you.

Good luck!

I don't evwn bother reading those text walls of argumenting. Seriously people don't you think you are overcharging new users a bit? It's pretty difficult to process all the information in such a short time. That doesn't mean any of the advice is wrong or something.

Let TreeSapp just post some more art and help her improve in small steps. If she decides not to take your advice then we all can just forget about it.

To TreeSapp: WIP means "work in progress". Just post some more of them and consider some of the stuff the people here are telling you, they really know what they are talking about and have the best intentions even though that does not always come across.

On a side note. If you were wondering about the cake pic. I have done it with a virtual birthday cake e-card flash here: http://www.theoworlds.com/birthday/

Would be interesting what artists can create with it. Would it be worth dedicating a thread to it?

Nobody is complaining about your art. What people are trying to tell you is:

The better your art is, the more likely it will be that you get scouted quickly. There is no "waiting time" that you have to go through.

To those who have not noticed yet: The unscouted section seems to be fixed. I am browsing it for more than two days now and so far there was no more waiting infront of a white browser page anymore.

Thanks to the admins involved in it for fixing that issue.

First off, amazing stuff can be done with MSPaint although it's much harder with it. Secondly here is a list of some free art programs: http://re2deemer.newgrounds.com/news/pos t/309622

I recommend Gimp, but it's probably not the best choice for pixel art.

But I think it should also be possible to have an argument among the regs without taking it personal.

It makes life so much easier for the users here. :)

Instead of using MSPaint you could check this list of free art programs: http://re2deemer.newgrounds.com/news/pos t/309622

I suggest THE GIMP on www.gimp.org btw. It's one of the most popular free art programs.

It will help against those jagged edges and provide some useful brushes and other features.

But generally your art looks nice and I especially like the pics done with pencil and paper.

I actually like the purple shading more than the first one. Looks nice.

Apart from that it's the same situation as usual, the lines could still use some cleaning even though it's much better already and a nice background would really add to your art.

But yeah, your attention seeking is still kinda annoying. I just thought I wasted some minutes of my life giving feedback to someone who doesn't listen, so I could as well come here and share some minutes replying to you.

If you want to redo your piece, just remove the tag calendar2012 in the art portal submission. You can however also enter more than one entry. Only one can make it into the calendar though.

If you just want to edit your current entry simply update the portal file.

Either way continue as you wish, but be aware that some others may make the same mistake as me and try to give you feedback.

First off, welcome to the art forum!

What kind of filter are you applying to your pics? The outcome looks kinda funky at times. As for this pic, I can hardly make out what it is.

I prefer your other art, especially the piece called "Hare".

Do yourself and us a favour and post more lineart like in aforementioned piece. That way we can see YOUR art and give honest feedback. Filters kinda cover up a part of the real work and make it harder to review.

Generally your stuff looks promising.
