Photoshop vs. piracy.
Okay.. I have been lurking around this topic, wondering if I should drop my two cents on the topic and decided no! But now I am mildly intoxicated and feel like sharing my view on the matter. Keep in mind that these arguments only apply to proffesional creative programs like the adobe suite or the likes of these.

(Sorry TOAS, please don't ban me, I'm on vacation and I am very bored!)

My point is simple. Adobe does NOT loose money on people downloading/stealing their software via pirating programs, because the people downloading the software would not have purchased the product in the first place. Why? Because they have no motivation to do so, as M-vero mentioned; there are plenty of other alternatives to doing so. Oh well why do people do it then? Simple, people aren't that creative when it comes to products. They just choose what ever their heroes use; adobe! My point is that piracy is good for adobe because if I had gotten used to say Gimp instead of Photoshop, then it is very likely that I would not switch and choose photoshop for my (hopefully) future professionally life. Boiled down, I think, that creative software producers such as adobe benefit very much from piracy, because when I am ready to start my professional life I will have no choise than to buy the products because these are the only tools I am experienced in useing. Also, by this time their products would be tax reductable. That makes quite a difference :P

This isnt really a style I want to work with, its more of a training-thing. I need to be able to do the hyper-detailed stuff if I'm gonna work with 2d though, which i might end up doing in a couple of years if I don't become a 3d animator. I really hope I don't have to do that though. I wanna have the painting-bit as a hobby. :)

aha! I see. Well yeah then you need to have that stuff down. It sounds mighty interesting. Are you in some kind of art school?

I may very well be judging a little fast here, but I would say I am a little unsure if this is the way to go. Even though it looks smooth and impressive then I think it looses some of that trademark laserkarlistic play with the colors in the light and shadows. It's a nice picture though.

How is it all your drawings would look perfectly at home on the front of a hipster screen-printed tee?

Well I attend design school and all my friends are hipsters and the internet would totally hate them. This is of course very much a reflection of those inputs. Also I have gained interest in poster sites like inprint.com and society6.com and I would like to see if I could be able to sell something there.

But nice dignified llama driving (?) a car, anyway.

Thanks :)

Aww man I know that feeling. One thing I sometimes try when I feel like I'm stuck is to create some rules or dogmas that I have to follow. Something like "I have to draw the sketch while walking" or "draw without an outline" or something like that. Also remember to write it down whenever you feel like you have a good idea for a drawing.

Anyways, here's something a little bit more like how I used to draw. Kind of a callback to another much older drawing of mine.

I quite like the composition here, don't be to hard on your self :)
