I'm horrible in drawing backgrounds! I have very little practice... Ok. I'll practice and try to add backgrounds for my image. You're right though. Having a background does help with the immersion process.
I have no idea how some of the crap gets on it but its got much higher quality control
than deviant art.
I think your stuff is be nice if you fleshed out your backgrounds a little bit more dude.
Welcome to NG.
Digital tutors do some awesome background tutorials and speed painting ones im not expert but what you have is good so might as well make it better.

A bit of the environment
Hey folks have been working on a murder mystery title and we are looking for an artist to help do portraits for the characters in our games. Here is a look at some of the characters and environments and if we get a 4th person soon were going to be applying to participate in the power of four competition. We have a demo ready for anyone who is interested showing things working in unity. The character portraits are so important in an 16 bit game really showcasing the characters and there traits and if we got someone in to help out just a little it would be awesome.
Currently working an a game with a team from here would love to take part I have been posting bits and bobs about it on the forums. Bit of a murder mystery game so glad to hear about the new unity implementation as its the engine were using.

There’s two people building a wall. They agree on how they will split their pay before constructing the wall. Builder 1 is better at laying bricks than Builder 2, but both work just as hard and the same hours. By the end of the project, Builder 1 had laid 20 bricks and Builder 2 had laid 5 bricks. How should they have agreed to split their pay?
You need to sign a non disclosure agreement. It just means everyone does fair work and gets fair pay if someone
decides to slack or doesnt do something they were suppose to do they dont get paid for it. I make games with
My friends for a living and each no project we start we sign an nda. I live in europe so the example I would send im not sure how it would hold up in us law.

Game is basic as fuck really and if you know what you're doing you can complete it in like 5-10 minutes, but I imagine it has a look and feel of what you're trying to do. You can youtube a playthrough if its easier but I recommend playing it. Its got some nice deaths.
Good luck man. I fucking love murder mystery games and I would play the shit out of that.

No character reacts AT ALL to anything you ask or try to show them. Whether it be asking about a person, or the will, or a murder weapon clearly covered in blood on their bed. Sure they may not have been the murderer themselves, but come on! You are a detective and you can't even force people to speak when you clearly find very incriminating evidence in their room?
Good luck man. I fucking love murder mystery games and I would play the shit out of that.
I use manic mansion because for its time it was very inovative but I really do appreciate all of the suggestions and input it means a lot as I said anyone want to throw an idea or a mechanic at me send me a pm or add me up ill credit anyone who helps out including the ng community.

Personally I would promote the Ace Attorney Phoenix Wright games as "murder mystery" as they are based around protecting your client from accusations and using logic and evidence to discover the truth both in court and outside of court. It very much has a "who dun it" aspect to it....even though at some times it may be a little clear as some people clearly look evil right from the get-go, but other times it will surprise and twist around. The journey is always amazing and interesting.
Thanks so much for the awesome feedback I mean it manic mansion was very special to me when I was little it felt very dynamic for the time. Had multiple endings and I remember playing with my uncle when I was very small. I will take the good and get rid of the bad believe me ill do my best and will show progress and take your suggestions and advice. A lot of what your speaking of is kind of what I need being a one man army is hard its why im coming here to get ideas and help on the mechanics side of things. feel free to add me up if you wana help in its development ill throw credit to anyone who wants to partake

Working on a dynamic murder mystery game its inspired but a lot of stuff but the killer and the motive change everytime.
Im heavily inspired by maniac mansion and love games that run on internal clocks for set events to put stress and pressure on the player.
What games did you enjoy involving twists and alternative story changes??
Heres a screenshot of a room from the game.
You are right indeed it is to make them pop dude. Its early days at the moment so Im being very picky with my colours also all of the lights are animated sprites so Im waiting until there finished. Still working on the character sprites but it aint easy being a one man army I will take it all into consideration and keep you guys posted.
Cause the hallway gets cold
And here is the hallway I want to add a lot more but I got these together so the programmer had something to work with.
Will be lots of modifications just thought Id share any suggestion would be welcome. If your curious bout the blue that will be removed of course.
Here a look at the study room.
Hey guys been working on a nice little murder mystery game lately. Here is some of the art I have produced for it so far.
The murder and the motive are changed everytime you play so its never the same. Still working on the characters. Here are some shots of it inside the engine.
