It's not at ground zero it's a couple or few blocks away.
This has nothing to do with muslims as a group of people... it deals with the sensative nature of the area and the questionable relationship of the new building in relation to 9/11.
Which has everything to do with Muslims
At 8/7/10 05:19 PM, studmuffin7 wrote: 1) What does the "Jews persecution" have to do with this?
They have been persecuted throughout history, same as homosexuals.
2) I doubt you are a Christian
Saw that one coming from a mile away, I know how you kind works, you don't like it when someone contradicts you, do you.
3) You think I'm arrogant for preaching the Word of God as written? Good is defined by God's whim and evil defined by rebellion against God. If God told me to do the chicken dance atop the Eifel Tower it would become my moral imperative to do so. But you? If you think obedience to God is arrogant then you don't know the meaning of the word arrogant and are probably arrogant yourself.
That's what is called blind devotion, the bible was written by the hands of men not god, and men decide what would be in the bible and what wouldn't be in the bible, only a fool follows something so blindly, religion isn't perfect, a quote that holds a lot of truth to it "Religion is flawed, but only because man is flawed"

In civilized countries in North America and Europe, there is still a VERY large Christian population. Moreover, anyone who isn't Christian is by definition a bad person and has no buisness discussing ethics or moral questions. Good is defined by God's whim and Bad is defined as going against God's will.
I'm a christian and I have to strongly disagree with you on that, and I can tell just by that paragraph and also ignoring the Jews persecution and what happens when religion runs government arguments, shows how truly arrogant you really are and that there is no point in arguing with you,

When you tear away the surface and get to the core, you are instilling punishment on them.
There where a few main causes behind these attacks and I don't think the ruins of the buildings should be used for anything that's going to glorify any of causes behind it.
As it has been said before Islam is not to be blamed, Al Qaeda and their twisted version of it is.
For instance, I don't think we should build a museum for airplanes at ground zero either. Are you going to accuse me of hating pilots now too?
Those who flew the planes into the buildings are responsible, not the planes.
Nobody is stoping them from doing this.
If it was up to you it wouldn't be allowed to be built, that's what we have been arguing.
However, just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should do something and in this specific instance, I don't think they should.
and the rest of us think differently so lets leave it at that.
I hate to tell you this, but 9/11 was an act of war. Where have you been the past decade?
Al Qaeda doesn't represent a nation.
No. But I am saying that it's a bit offensive to build a shrine to honor the God that drove a few madmen to kill thousands of innocent people at the site where thousands of innocent people died against their will in the name of said God.
That very same said God is the same God that Christians and Jews worship, there for Churches and Synagogue shouldn't be there either and what about the one Mosque that is already there and is closer to ground zero then the one that is going to be built.
Your parents must have spoiled you rotton. When a girl says I can't have sex with her, am I being punished?
You have a bad habit of making outlandish comparisons that are completely different from the situation at hand.
No, not at all... thats why they are two diffrent words. You would think a genius english major like yourself would understand the diffrence between not liking something, and hating something.
I have to agree with you that like and hate are not the same.
Of course, you'd also think a writer would understand human emotions and the wide range of emotions that can fall between any two extremes.
and you are letting your emotions get the better of you.
That's not at all what I said. I've given plenty of reasons but "because they're muslim" was never one of them. For an english major, you suck at reading comprehension.
You have been saying that all Muslims must atone for what happened even if it was an action of a few, that is about "because they are Muslim" as you can get without saying it.
One mosque isn't 'everybody' either... Basic mathematics.
You allow it to happen once, it can then happen again and again.
Stripers.... we'll give you equal treatment and stuff... you just can't have your strip club where we tell you you can't. You know... like next to an elementary school.
Once again with the outlandish comparisons.

I meant the dvd.
I got a quick question here, I'm getting very interested in making parody/spoof/crossover trailers for youtube, my question is would burning my dvds on to my computer wreck them in some way.

At 7/30/10 06:19 PM, CacheHelper wrote: Nobody cares about the one already there, they just don't see a reason to put another one there. Besides, if they already have a mosque there, why do they need another one?
I grew up near a small town that had 3 churches, 2 of which were right next to each other, and the third right down the road, so that mutes that reason.
At 7/28/10 05:33 PM, CacheHelper wrote: This happens all of the time... why is it only punishment when it happens to muslims but it's not punishment when it happens to Buddhists or Methodists?
Buddhist denied.
Methodists denied.
It is never right to deny someone their religious rights (as long as it doesn't bring harm on to others), however the cases made in those links the were not denied for religious reasons at least not openly.
Because they did have something to do with it... maybe not personally, but nobody can deny that the muslim faith wasn't a part of these attacks. You do understand what Al Qaeda is don't you?
White people have greatly effected blacks in history and along with the actions of the KKK and Neo-Nazis, but should I carry the blamed for the actions of others just for being white. Should I be blamed for Nazi Germany's actions just for my German heritage.
Strip Club = Not offensive
Strip Club next to elementary school = Offensive
Mosque = Not offensive
Mosque at ground zero = Offensive
There is a big difference between a strip club and a religious building.
Nobody is being punished.
Blaming people for the actions of others is punishment.
Basically, what I'm saying, is that if the muslim religion really wanted to clear their name or make amends with the public, they should of popped up on 9/12 with fund rasiers and relief funds.
Should I have to give money to every Jew for everything that was taken from them during the holocaust.
They stayed quiet and now they want a mosque at ground zero. It's not hard to understand why some people would be offeneded or upset by this.
No it is not hard to see, it prejudice built on fear and hate.
fact that muslims commited 9/11 in the name of the muslim religion.
That is no excuse to hold all Muslims for the actions of radical Muslims, just as all whites should not be blamed for the actions of the KKK.
Good thinking... we should get rid of all of our new security at airports... I mean, why should I have to take off my shoes just because a very small minority of the people that ride planes blow them up with explosives?
Not blame people for the actions of others is very different from taking down security to prevent a tragic event.
No it's not. By a bunch you mean what 8-10?
More then 10 people died on 9/11. Are you retarded?
He was referring to the terrorist.
This is perfectly legal. I have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at all. Welcome to america.
Uh no actually it isn't legal, not for public places.
Actually no. Sure, you may not be prohibiting them, but you are still telling them that they do not desrve the location they rightfully have because of their religion.
This happens all the time.
Doesn't make it right.
Glad to see we agree, because this specific group of muslims was vocally calling for the destruction of the American people.
But this Mosque is not promoting death to America.
damn you staff I live in Minnasota not Massachusetts, I never want to see you again.

So that's why I have so much money these past 2 years.
and all the new friends you'll have for being a DD.
That's basiclly what I've been for my family.
My cousin joked this weekend that he would buy me a pop (he's younger then me), bastard cut out on me, I'm a sodaholic :p
I got a quite a few mixed drinks, didn't really like any of them, the last one (forgot what it was, my sister called it a girly drink) I started to like but then I started to dislike must of been getting mostly the fruity stuff at first and got into the alchol, I guess I just don't have the taste for alcohol, either that or I haven't found a drink I liked.
It is my 21st birthday, my family is going out to eat for all of our birthdays, all through I get the feeling a lot of alcohol is going to be shoved my way.

I agree, love isn't biological dumbass.
Thirteen days from my 21st birthday, which I think my most of my family is looking forward to the most, mostly my sister, she would like to give me lots of alcohol and take me to "places".
With all the trees that were knocked down from the storms, you would think that Paul Bunyan got drunk and ran around with his ax.

It's your birthday, well happy birthday.
I expect the something in return in a month and 5 days :p
Have to go in for an endoscopy later this morning, will be out cold for most of the day, all well at least I get to take a break from weaning pigs.

I got a decision to make. I've been letting my hair grow out, but I have to get my licensed renewed, so do I cut it short or let it stay long, I've had people say they like it long, but I don't know what to decide.

I've lived in southern Minnesota all my live and I've never seen a tornado. There may have been one near my place once when I was very young, not really sure. The closest I have ever come to seeing one was years ago, a funnel cloud was slowly coming down near where I lived but a fourth or so the way down it slowly went back up.
"Whats the difference between a tornado in the Midwest and a divorce in the South?"
Been trying to kick the pop habit by replacing it with gatorade, hopefully it works
