Here you go :) (please note this was done hastily)

1. Quick sketch of where stuff is going
2. blocked colour (or colours)
3. blend in highlight tones (this is with one colour on about 14~18 flow)
4. blend red/blacks into skin tone (about 4~6 flow)
5. block in some features
6. flatten the two layers and work with the eyedrop tool on the picture reworking everything.
7. still doing this
8. refine some bits, add colour pallet colours in when needed to keep colour up.
9. block in hair
10. fine bits and pieces.

then i would clean it all up and tidy bits... but i think this shows you how i currently do stuff.

i never used to like painting, and this "style" is my own combination of miniature painting and bits i pick up from others... i would normaly use a black undercoat for minatures then use a brown for the skin and work the layers up and then go back over with a dark wash.

any more questions feel free to ask. learning how other artists do things can sometimes help yourself improve :D

i know completely... i want to move away from using references but im like a spoiled child and can seem to let go...

when it comes to doodling i tend to draw a few line and work from them... i dont really have anything in mind.
where as when i am using a reference i can see what i am trying to achieve... i will quickly knock some stuff up step by step to see if it helps...

You have to understand that for the most part of it. the user base of such sights have a lot of younger users who purposely search for such images. having a thumbnail / picture that is suggestive in a mature way will give you a lot of hits regardless of the quality of the picture.

Sex sells and everyone knows it.

i have the adult filter turned off while browsing the art portal and this does help cut out the majority of images, a few teen and mature images of this nature still get in however.

be it anything creative, writing, sculpture, art, music or flash animations there will be sex somewhere to give it a boost.

may it be shocking or unheard off... curiosity captures the users to check it out.

Overall... newgrounds has always had this sort of stuff pasted in it and i cant see it going away any time soon.

as the main image is just a recolour/manipulation of another picture that you did not draw / create

FIRST THING - I AM NO EXPERT so take my word as gospel.

a lot wrong with this

FORM - there is no form, it lacks shape, her arm is like a sausage with a floppy joint. the boobs are like water balloons and the waist line is horrid.

her head is elongated (also neck) and too big i think, her eyes are over anime styled and just look like big black blobs. her ear is also to high up her head. *see orange / red lines* ((seen as she is not looking down it shouldn't be there))

hands are notoriously hard to draw so just keep drawing.

i would reduce the size of her breasts to a smaller/ normal size... but i know what you guys are like for doing this sort of stuff...

i only have that new ms paint and a mouse on this computer... but i think i got my lines across...

apart from the abuse of the smudge tool, i don't see a problem here, compared to his early works there is a huge difference yes.

I would argue that the hand outlines could be traced due to the fact how accurate they are and the shape of the lines (when compared to the other artists works)

its not hard to get pictures like this if its a referenced picture, i should know :3

overall... give the guy some slack and let him post some more artwork.

as for waking up in the middle of the night, its more like early morning

Used to go shopping for paints every other week i think... (would always buy more then i needed anyway)

and in social situations it would be more like the last panel
"i could be doing artwork right now"
