Okay, I guess I should explain more about "Can God speak so softly even He couldn't hear himself", which is essentially the same as magically creating the universe and then creating something He has no power over, but not human free will, because that would have nothing to do with it...

If you set God to a task, for example, like your really big rock even He can't lift, what's to stop God from creating said rock, making a really convincing show to YOU and YOU alone that indeed, God could not lift the enormous rock? You'd go out and preach with your proof that God created something He couldn't lift (ie manipulate).

Once you leave or die or your bloodline has bred itself out, what is now to stop him from lifting the rock? The Faith in your belief that God cannot improve? Fuck, single celled bacteria can do that, why not God?

No if a paradox isn't a paradox, it isn't a paradox at all. Besides, being answerable or not has nothing to do with being a paradox or not.

If an unliftable object must be lifted, it's not impossible, just illogical. And it's not God failing, it's you :)

Honestly, I'd feel pretty similar to reiper on this . . . as long as there is a studious investigation, I'd expect the offending nation's military to rein in it's own, triply so in a situation of allied friendly fire as opposed to say, mexican soldier being killed by a stray test missile 2 miles over the mexican border. And vice versa.

In cases of extreme negligence, like the example I gave (and not the low-flying fighter, which is actually a very weak claim for extraditing soldiers), damaged nations may request and expect full disclosure on the matter.

It would depend on how rabid your newshawks are. Chances are, if most canadians are as insecure about their image compared to the US, then the coverage would probably be more dramatic.

We've been going from mid 30's and 40's, down to 0 with 25 mph winds, and back up to snow-melting weather. The result? Some stellar smooth ice on all the lakes, an ice skater's dream and a fishermen's bane.

Had two more people go through the ice last week, one in a brand new Cherokee and another with his tractor, hauling out his fish house. If anyone here is a snowmobile rider, WATCH OUT FOR OPEN ICE FROM IDIOTS WHO GO THROUGH. I lost a good friend a few years that way, and every time I see sledders cruisin across the ice, I can't help but think of it.

No holucaust means "Wide Destruction"

Look at the latin roots, "holo" (complete) and "caust" (to burn).

Considering that part of the final solution was the burning of the labor-addled dead, "holocaust" fits pretty well.

And?

You shouldn't have to have it spelled out word for word to you that Iraq was NOT "all about" oil. Or am I wrong in the respect that a good part of this thread's posters believe exactly that?

Iraq wasn't about WMDs, tyranny or oppression. It wasn't about stability in the region, economic or otherwise, it was about how the United States could pilfer resources for 30 years in exchange for (re)building independant oil fields which would line the pockets of the elected government instead of Saddam.
Where did I ever say I didn't think it was about WMDs tyranny or oppression? Read my posts, I never said that.

You're too full of yourself, I think. Can't you see my comments were directed at the poster who equated the Iraq war with a blunderous adventure to obtain oil, and those who agreed with them?

The only posts I have made were ones criticizing your analogy

Then stick with what you know. Sheesh. You demanded clarification, then when I give it, you act all offended as if you've got something at stake here. Let me assure you, the only thing you've got at stake in this thread is your air of pompousness.

But the weathers nice up here, ain't it?

How is that even relevant? That has nothing to do with the discussion. The civil war has nothing to do with Iraq. There is no relationship between them besides the fact that they are both wars. If you intend to make a point, just say it, instead of coming up with a smug vague analogy.

I don't have to be Muslim to use the word Allah. In Pimp's profile, it says he's god, so it's like he's saying he's Allah. Get it? "Allah" doesn't necessarily refer to the god of Islam.

I'd opt for responsible and sensible government spending over any penny-ante salary they give themselves.

I know the judiciary doesn't fall into that particular category, but congress does, and apparently that's part of why the judges feel 'left out'.

They should have better things on their minds, especially to the public.
