Most of the issues are in the bust line and the outstretched arm. I'd say to adjust those two objects. Take a picture of yourself doing the pose and try to recreate it if you are having trouble.

The bust should work as the middle, about where the nipples would be, should be just a little past the armpit line, if they are about that size.

The rest doesn't seem that bad, the eyes are kinda weird though, but it could be considered style.

Yeah, I just put those so I know where the darker spots will be, where it overlaps. I'm gonna make it a very busy image, just not now, I'm trying to finish my Nintendo thing and start my GRIM/Halloween thing.

Don't really care for the first or last one, the middle one is awesome.

Thanks, I'm pretty amateur at colouring, so doing the kinetic power aura thing will be hard for me! So forgive me if the colouring ends up making the drawing worse.

Less creative freedom.

Can't just multiply or make your own background opaque?

Response to: My Psd Logos - Use Them, Feedback Posted October 12th, 2009 in Art

It loos like you used typical fonts like Arial and Helvetica, chose colour schemes and most of the time, used one colour for one word and one colour for the other and put some logo that reflects the business, they aren't bad but they all have the same feel, to me.

I think you should vary your designs a bit more. Some people like simplified logos that are just one colour, some want two colour and some want full.

I work as a graphic designer for a print shop, and usually whatever looks good on a business card and on a banner is what people want and usually simple is better because a black logo is considerably cheaper to print than a full colour one.

Maybe create some customer fonts, if you can, play with typography a bit more, high end food places tend to use scripts while lower ends use stuff that are serif and usually bold and broad. Anyway, it's just my opinion.

If it's gonna end up like this, how will it be...attractive?

There's no transition. Whose gonna do the segments that cover in between? Or is it going to be that the people who agree to work on the collab will be assigned segments?

It may be a good idea, but once it goes from Hell, to ground, to land, to sky, to space, to heaven, what else will there be? That's like 12 pieces depending on how much hell, sky, space and heaven there is. It's not possible to have em break in to the left or right?

I think that'd be more dynamic then just a long upwards motion.

And like others, I'm a bit wary of participating in a meme collab.

Response to: Art Forum Game Collab [voting] Posted October 12th, 2009 in Art

Since Knocturne is a polysyllabic word I will vote more than once.

I want to do a platformer the most, if that ended up the case, I would love drawing the weird dark level and my boss would be this giant panda thing that looks like the Radiohead bear kinda. We could add other useable characters after the final project is done, also.

My second vote is for side-scrolling brawler, I'm imagining it looking similar to the old ones, so for the most part, animation wouldn't be too complicated. There could be the kind of premise where a mysterious entity summons heroes of other worlds/dimensions to fight eachother, then the good people would be playable and the bad people would be villains. Or we could bring the option of playing as the villains.

Response to: Art Forum Lounge Posted October 11th, 2009 in Art

Those animations could be easy depending on the character type, but I guess it is a little complex for a first go.

So I just got scouted today, pretty awesome (thanks again SNO). So I sent out 4 scout invitations because I wanted to help the art portal get back together. So all 4 of my invites accepted the scout by 2pm. I log in right now to find a message in my inbox from M-bot, sent at 6:30, telling me I've lost my scouting privilege. Does someone have a vendetta against me or something?
I'm kinda pissed, because all of my scouts were scouted before the art portal reboot, and none of their pieces break any rules. Anyone have a clue what the hell is going on?
End of venting

THE HECK!? I am one of the four you scouted, and I too sent four requests to people whom I previously scouted and whom never broke any rules.

This is lame.

Response to: Advice on shading Posted October 9th, 2009 in Art

Maybe you should do what someone suggested and try drawing from life.

I think you have a good understanding of shading and light, maybe draw something that requires using perspective, and proportions and when you colours, try to use the colours to evoke a mood nstead of portraying reality like you've done before.

Response to: Advice on shading Posted October 9th, 2009 in Art

True, but then doing the vector work and rasterizing in the same program would be a lot easier than working from flash and then rasterizing and working from photoshop.

Response to: The Samurai Art Collab thread Posted October 9th, 2009 in Art

Hey, is it alright if I just submit two works? I REALLY don't want to do four, or is it non-negotiable?

Response to: Advice on shading Posted October 9th, 2009 in Art

I'd suggest using illustrator for the line work, it's vector based and has some of the features photoshop has, so you can make the shading/lighting/values/masks pixelized images, and the lines could be vectors.

Or just play around with photoshop. I just like illustrator.

Awesome :D

I'd probably like you to draw the background a long with the character because it looks great :)

Thanks, yeah I think I will, tracing it in photoshop or flash will be the worst part, but I could add more detail and it'll be worth it I SWEAR!

Response to: gallery Posted October 8th, 2009 in Art

If you are gonna draw weapons, you should practice working on perfecting the straight line, while your drawings are good, they lack the technical accuracy that guns tend to have present.

As for the hand, try some hand studies, because the forearm seems elongated, and weird.

Good work, none-the-less.
