Yeah, but I wanted to one up someone (unscouted again grrr) because I'm annoyed.
Actually, it looks more like they adjusted the colour levels.
Kay, I want to work on a toyland type place with some Tim Burton/Jhonen Vasquez type of art.
We neeed to start organizing groups and if Tom is gonna make the code we need that so we can find a mini programmer for each stage.
I think if everyone states what kind of level they wanna work on then we could start doing stuff.
Just an idea.
This is so hard since I know like four art forum member's names and they were all said already.
Ness! I didn't draw him chubby because he's only chubby in Super Smash!
I can't post the coloured version since it was coloured in Photoshop.
I know it looks a bit like the Radiohead bear. But I think it's just the teeth.
The point of your reply was?
Dis is a robot a drew in Psychology class, I'm working on colouring it at the moment.

This one is your best one, the amount of detail, the minimalization of mistakes, it's very nice to look at and seems pretty intricate,

This is one of the ones I don't like because some of the issues are more obvious, there are some lines that don't go to thesame spot. Two point perspective is difficult though and I think you would have succeeded more if you made the horizon line a bit higher (for dynamics) and the points from which all lines arrive to run off the page.
Tom's idea about the independently programmed stages seems pretty cool, it's be more labourious but if we round up a bunch of programmers it won't be.
I think we should take stock of whom is actively willing to participate, who's leading the stage groups and what kind of stage everyone wants to make so we'll know who belongs in what group.
I want to do one of those fantasy type dream stages, a playful one, with some abstraction and a childishness to it.
I'd probably redraw my old character here as the boss if that was permitted.
I'm just not a fan of taking a style and then creating new characters in that style.
Your characters look too much like the ones already in the Sonic universe, except the problem is, that is unavoidable.
I'd say if you like it, keep doing it.
I'd practice drawing the lines straighter and coming up with something that sets your style apart from the Sonic one, just a little.
That may explain why my new submission has like a 2.2, I mean it wasn't as good as the other people's in the contest but sheesh.

Well, we should probably make more than 4 levels, but I could see something coming from that. The first couple of levels could seem happy and fun, but as the game progresses it gets more dark and sinister, and the final level could be a nightmarish hell in which you would undoubtedly need to defeat the boss in order to wake up from the nightmare.
Yeah, well, it's four levels but there are different types of dreams each level, there's micro sleep in stage one for instance, wet dreams in 3, night terrors in 2 and nightmares in four. There could potentially be around eight or nine stages in that formula.
And like you said it's start off pleasant and then get off and become creepy and nightmare-ish
ANYWAY, 'm gonna work on some creatures, a few boss designs, a potential level design and some character designs this week, I guess I'll post em sporadically throughout the week, I'm super enthusiastic to participate in this huge project, and I think I found a person who'd like to make the music for the game, but I don't know if he does sound effects.
Though everything is up to BMK.
Those were ideas for levels,It may seem complicated but it's simple.
The idea of sleeping is that peoplle go from 1to4
One is like a beginning stage, four is the most intense and final stage. It's just a suggestion, I think it'd make the game more fun to look at.
I mean, it is just an idea, it'd help with coneptualizing the stages and give them a central theme instead of sheer randomness, which for me is what I like in games.
Well, the average person has around 3-6 dreams a night, so it'd be neat if the whole game was almost a continuous map that transitioned flawlessly as you progressed. Or like you said, just ripped off and pulled him into the next one.
I'm guessing the level concepts would be decided by the designer? We should probably make a list of types of levels or level concepts so there aren't 9 wet dream stages and one nightmare.
There's micro sleep, REM sleep, stages 1,2,3 and 4, night terrors and nightmares you know? That's what I meant by stages of sleep.
If we follow the typical standards for weapons, I just hope they look pretty.
Will the monsters be all standard and just redrawn by the level designer as well or will each level have it's own monsters?
Last of my barrage of questions: will there be any special/bonus stages? Anything from racking up points to just a stage designed completely differntly to provide payers with a bit of fresh air, like a snowboarding level or something.

I typically combine using dodge and burn on highlights, and I use a brush with wet tips or a typical brush for shading and the smudge tool for bending the shades.
I'm not really good at colouring so my techniques aren't all that good.

Super Mario? That one's pretty darned hollow on the story side.
Heroes need to save the princess. In most variations of the series.

It's gameplay and innovation that makes a game.
No, it's a combination of multiple aspects, the story doesn't have to overwhelm the game on any given level, but if you are usuing it merely for explanation, it should actually explain, in my opinion.
And it was fairly obvious I was talking about games with a premise.
As far as gameplay that would make the game interesting what would make this game special? Would the main character's design change per dream?
Would there be level specific content (armour, powers, weapons etc.)?
How does he transition from each world? Wakes up and goes back to sleep?
Will there be any reference to the stages of sleep?
What kind of weapons will be involved and will there be a weapon enhancing/fusion system?

That's not a storyline, that's a premise except it doesn't even explain anything.
A kid dreams in different art styles, and goes shooting through the dreams why?
Show me a game without a story and I'll show you a game noone remembers/likes.
Mine was more on a whim than for serious arting. THAR YOU GO.

No
How about, in the distant future the internet becomes a tangible place, one which people opt to travel. There is a place that is traversed by many, The New Grounds. The Hegemon of The New Grounds, whom was sealed off by The Defenders has been unleashed by a foolish man, BMK.
Now, The Hegemon traps a select few henchmen to begin his million year reign or darkness to a head.
BMK has no choice but to go to the lands created by The Hegemon and his henchmen and stop him before everyone in The New Grounds are trapped and The New Grounds are lost forever.

Anyway, as far as the story goes, is it going to be light-hearted or more intense or just used as a loose explanation for the circumstances?
Well, uh that's not the story of Kirby's Adventure (the name of the original, Nightmare in Dreamland is the name of the remake).
That game has Dedede stealing the Star rod, preventing people from dreaming. SHAZAAAM.
First of all if it's a dream game, it should have a name like Hypnogogia which is the state of sleep right before you fall asleep.
Story:
You are an ordinary person whose been slipping into sleep more and more often at random times (narcolepsy I guess) and you start to fall into other people's dreams too (the bosses of a level could be the boss of the other person's mind) and you've realized that someone is actually linking the dreams together, for -insert a purpose here- and you begin fight this growing evil whose goal is to steal the -something- from the world and rule over it.
Thanks E-Yeah, you pointed out a lot of things I hadn't even realized. I think my next projects will incorporate perspective more actively, so I can improve on it. I'm gonna work on learning traditional/realistic proportions so that I can then bend the rules and use my long necked proportions all I want hehe.
Here's my current work in progress. It's my "Karma is Dead" robot but a little bit reworked and not all messed up. Tried to tone down the Iron Giant resemblance.

Dang, and here I thought we had something.
I like the colouring, I just don't know what he's doing. It's like he sipped on a banana peel made of fire while holding his fire based cell phone.
The quality went down when I made the dimension corrections...
But here's the Ness:
That's a shame, I came up with some samurai ideas, I needed to practice drawing armour too...
Wow, I forgot to do my samurai drawings, I guess after I've finished my Nintendo one, I'll do threeHalloween/Grim ones and then do the four samurai and finish my longcat one.
Spread myself too thin I guess.
I'm pretty much done with the basic colouring, now I've got to make him look like he is doing psychic powers!
I think I'll have it done done tomorrow.
