For each one? Do you mean the palette I choose or the actual technique? I try different things each time I have to colour so I'm not sure. I actually don't know much about colours, I know the basics about them, complimentary and all that but I have no knowledge of colour logic, thanks for pointing that out.
They both have sharp teeth that wrap arounf their faces, that's all. The face is very different to me, I've only gotten tha. The weird thing I've drawn that bear for years and I have heard it being compared to that bear just within the last couple months. I don't get what you mean still.
Oh, I guess I could redo it, but I don't want a realistic space scene, just want it like it enough so when I draw the foreground I can mess with the backgroud to match up in style.
Are you saying the style of the bear is what's boring about it? You talk about another bear and stuff, it's how you say things that really makes me confused.
Oh, I was actually gonna put the engine right about there. I have never drawn cars/trains/transportation before so I looked at a bunch of old coal trains and just drew whatever. I was looking at a bunch of pictures of space and I saw some nebula that looked like swirly nonsense so I tried to imitate it. I'm actually thinking of adding more stuff to the background to give it more of a dynamic look, and probably add some more colours.
It wold be alright on a t-shirt I suppose. I find it odd that one guy has his shadow against the background and the other doesn't.
I don't get what you mean about that.
Here's my work in progress, it's an art swap with cometa-guavaberry. We decided to give an idea to each other and see how the other person does with that idea.
Her suggestion was a boy and girl riding a rocket in outer space. I started off trying to do a locomotive instead but I also drew a steampunk 50's era sci-fi rocket but here's the train one.
Which will probably be hard to see. I made the stars and stuff myself, which is probably why they don't look believable.

Tell that to him.
He was like a little smaller than an adult in the game if I remember correctly but yeah, it's just my view.
It's a good start, I think putting a little more time might improve it, if you have some sculpting tools or if you can make them on a larger scale than that I think it'd help boost the quality.

Art below: I'll give you one hint... he's "courage"ous
I don't know how to feel, I love Courage the Cowardly Dog, but you lampooned him and I like your version even though it conflicts with the cute nature I have in my memories.
You've got an eye for details and your proportions, and lighting are really excellent. My one issue is it feels that your "final products" feel unfinished. They feel empty and just abandoned. Aside from that you have a knack for interpreting texture (I can't figure out how to do that stuff) it's really impressive.
I will!
Here's one of my Grim collab entries
For the Tankmen drawing I was trying to put a little of my style into them, in the end it looks a little odd and it feels unfinished to me.
Here's my drawing of Ness.

Thank you, I'm getting into some life drawing classes and I want to get to the point where I can actually call the way I draw a style because I'll have choices.
One of my current works in progress is a profile, I'm gonna try to impliment them more often to work on that, thanks for the tip.
Tankmen!
I don't know how to feel about your work, it doesn't wow me and it doesn't suck it is just waiting for me to have my back turned and then cloroform me and I'll wake up in a bathtub with my kidney missing.
It's like a random area in Zone of the Enders. It does look loads better without the text.
Eh, "shit" is profanity. I don't swear at all by the way and I'm TWENTY YEARS OLD.
One thought crossed my mind, looking at that piece:
"Give these people some chapstick."

Yeah, that's what I was getting at.
But, I'm not familiar with the artists here, I'm relatively new still so I don't know. The only person I know is Sci-Fi and he's doing some of the music haha
I think that the themes would be better if they were more vague or if they were built upon to be something unique.
I don't know who you were referring to, probably Kraig but I saw it first haha.
Will the voting help determine what the art teams will be? Or is it just to decide the stages?

Maybe, I think Tom's in on the programming too.

I'm not sure I entirely agree with that statement, nor am I sure that you've used the phrase Deus Ex Machina correctly.
Deus Ex Machina is a plot device that resolves a situation abruptly and usually nonsensically. Applied to this situation, it would refer to art which is concidered brilliant and the end-all-be-all of it's type.
I don't agree with you either.
It's disappointing to me because it wasn't a problem, I followed all the parameters, I'm sure it would have a similar effect if I used Flash or Illustrator because it's more of an illusion than anything else.
Just pretend my submission was never there, I won't participate.
People at ConceptArt aren't gods of art, it's almost the same as Deviantart but just different Deus Ex Machina. Like someone else said here, good art is debateable, technique isn't. Take Dali, who was classically trained, he knew how to draw a guy, he was technically skilled. Then you got his surrealist works, which are debatably brilliant.
They just aren't at everyone's speed.
For the thread starter, I'd suggest practicing portrayal of reality before distorting reality.
I disagree that "everyone sucks" though I agree that there are many people on Newgrounds that aren't up to scratch, there are many, however that are at the same level as those on DeviantArt and ConceptArt and some infact, come from those sites TO Newgrounds, which should say something about the quality of this site.
Anyway, anyone can draw, and this guy isn't off to a bad start.

Eh? I don't understand what you mean. I know at 100% hardness photoshop still gives a thin gradient on a side of the solid line. It's because of the fact it's pixels and not vectors that made it look even more like a rule breaker.
Everyone else: try to stay away from this! if your are going to use that manner of shading, use a somewhat bigger brush, or dont zoom in!
That's a shame, it's not breaking the rules but if you say so.
At 10/25/09 03:49 PM, ReNaeNae wrote: knocturne, your gray looks to have multiple values... or am I seeing things wrong again?
I used a size 1-10 pixel brush. I'm thinking it's an optical illusion, I can redo it in a more cel-shaded style if you want.
