Now THAT'S provacative ;)

Hahaha first time I actually laughed reading something here

Response to: 2010 Art Forum Awards [Discussion] Posted November 28th, 2010 in Art

I don't get the problem with provocativity. I just saw that I was voted for, and I thought about it. What exactly did I do to push boundaries?

I mean, I carved a face into a pumpkin, I sewed a doll without instructions, making my own clothes and carving on wood. Did I blur the line of what's what? Did I exceed what was imagined and excited?

I don't feel that I did, but was my motivations the things that made me provocative to DNoack? Even it it did, are motivations more important than the final product?

I mean, when you see a drawing do you say "wow art for art's sake" or "wow, they are really pushing themselves?"

I dunno, when I see provocative, I see "the art that excites you" even with the parameters BMK has given. But whatever I dunno, I thought about this in the shower

It's the vitarka mudra, it symbolizes teaching and reason

I felt like Lux has taught me a bit so I wanted some meaning in the picture

the gesture means "ok", doesn't it?

I know! Deep down that was like the biggest excuse ever ;(

Naw, it's a religious gesture hehe

Response to: Knocturne's Art Posted November 28th, 2010 in Art

The shoulder thing was me drawing at a weird angle, so the everything was drawn tilted to the left, I felt like it was more interesting than drawing it straight on, the hand thing yeah it's kinda bad, but I was having a hard time drawing elongated fingers, so it got way unrealistic, but at the same time, I'm probably gonna make him melting so I don't think it'll matter once I get to that step.

Thanks for the good eye, I think I'll practice hands this week, do some studies on hands that way I will be able to play around with them a bit better.

Does anyone know what the hand gesture means? Knocturne points to anyone who does

The funny thing about this is, if I take a long break from art I tend to come back better, like between my absense from the forums and now I wasn't drawing at all, but now I'm magically better

That's awesome dude! I'm loving the dark colors in this. Who is it anyway?

It's from one of his drawings, seen here

Not really an even art trade since I'm depicting it relatively the same

Sucks, I barely returned to the forums really in the last two months, I feel like my opinions in regard to best any of these is so limited, oh well, I'll still vote

Oh nice haha, I learned how to play double bass but I rarely do it. My band is post-punk/progressive/alternative I guess and I think we play the bass drum similarly. I used to swing my arms down but I broke too many cymbals, so now I sweep to the sides I've never broken any heads before though hehe

Post-hardcore is REALLY fun to play on a side note

Response to: Draw on Yourself! Posted November 26th, 2010 in Art

Drumming takes stamina, you might be overweight but you burn A LOT of calories drumming. People tend to burn 100-300 calories an hour drumming, which is about the size of a meal.

Most drummers tend to have swimmer's physiques because of the high amount of calories burned through drumming (depending on their drumming/music style and eating habits).

Double bass drum technique tends to qork out various leg muscles depending on your footing also.

I keep up my health because it does improve my drumming AND it's aesthetically pleasing.

I meant for aesthetics and because yes drumming will get me in shape regardless, but I wanted to be more fit to handle longer practice sessions and whatnot.

Plus Meatloaf doesn't play drums

Oh well, mine was a gift also, so I feel like I have to keep using it, though, for me it fits like a glove and yeah drawing is purely for my own amusement hehe

Response to: Tablets Posted November 25th, 2010 in Art

Oh, you're right Lux

Gosh and yeah I'm half black!

I use this tablet that has like 4 inches of space and I love it and will never upgrade because change is bad!

Seriously though, I dunno I used an intuous and played with a cintiq but I only like my cheap little bamboo fun tablet

I know what you mean, I've been trying to develop my abilities to render things more realistically and I've been trying different mediums and messing with how color is used. I don't like the things I've been doing but I am gonna bring that stuff back into my comfort zone and Knocturne 1.0 will be born

I think this is my favorite of your work, reminds me of Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, which isn't my namesake but a great game if you dig rpgs.

I'm not much of a fan of some of your newer stuff though, to be honest.

biggest thing i ever customized is a scooter

There are a lot of things I COULD customize, of the things you mentioned, my school bag is too stylized to mess with without making it too busy for my taste, my jackets are the same way and I don't like looking too busy, NEVER for the car and I don't have a scooter. The most I'm willing to try is shirts, my guitar/drums and my tablet but that's about it.

I think I'll try the guitar sooner rather than later though, since I'm inspired by your laptop bag haha

The people who are this way are very naturally gifted. But tutorials can help you understand how to proceed with a piece and how certain tools can be used to achieve certain things.
