Him from The Powerpuff Girls, he was my favorite character from that show and I think he's awesome.
Harley Quinn, well she's cool AND I'd draw Poison Ivy and have them "in my style".
Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, because JQB's unrelenting-unfunny Tim Burton joke made me want to pay homage to my unintentional inspiration.
You guys would make a thread inspired by my questionnaire anyway? I mean it'd be good for conversation or whatever but I don't think it'd last... that's why I posted it here.
Naw, I don't wanna make the questionnaire a thread it was more small talk/getting to see how you guys think and such and most of the regulars answered it.
Wow dude, you've improved soooo much
I'm jealous
To answer my own little questionnaire
A. What would you classify your style of art?
Uh cartoony
B. Top Five inspirations?
Range Murata, Alex Ross, Shigenori Soejima and Jamie Hewlett
C. How long have you been doing art? I've been doodling for about 10 years, but it wasn't til High School that I started trying to develop a style and do things that had real meaning to me (example of art from five years ago included below).
D. Has your style changed completely since then? If yes, what was it before?
At first, I only drew animals, mostly whales and it was child-like realism if you understand what I mean by that. Then it was straight anime up til the end of highschool (2007) where I decided to do something more original and unique to what I like and not limit myself (still working on it).
The drawing I'm putting up for you to laugh at is about one inch tall on a standard sheet of paper and is teh lulz.
Hmmm, I'll probably put up my votes tomorrow, I'm looking through people's things, I'm finding it hard to find a person for some categories, should I skip that category? I mean, I've noticed people skipping, but I'm not sure what their reasons were.
So, I was just curious.

As you might guess, this same exact thing has been plaguing me since I started drawing.
I hate getting compared to Burton's style, because I don't really feel my style is like his, except in a select few areas.
I was waiting to see your response in regards to all of this. I can SEE what people would compare to his style when looking at mine and yours. But, it's like summarizing a good book in one sentence as opposed to a real description, I feel.

And he will always have the nightmare before christmas - the rest? Meh- but nightmare before christmas.. special placei n my heart <3
Now read his original poem that the movie (directed by Henry Selick and co-written with Burton) and it is not nearly as cool as the movie which Burton had less creative control over. Meaning you're probably more of a Hnry Selick fanatic
Started putting up the colors I think I'm going with, kinda like a part two to that one drawing I did of my character East smiling with huge headphones
Would never go, partly because he's become quite a poor director/writer, partly because I HATE getting compared to him "You're the Tim Burton of art, your art looks like anime Tim Burton, you Burton-Tim-you -gargle"
So I've grown to biasedly dislike him, which I know is unfair but whatever. And like it's been said, his work would only amaze fanatics, appear good but not bad to an average person and so on and so forth.
hisses
Gotta respectfully withdraw my name from B's next owner. Gotta attend to more pressing matters

Ain't working for me
Well, many art related things a la looking at your art thread and you helping me on mine. Then there's the stuff I picked up just posting around with you, I dunno, there's a few Newgrounders here that have really contributed to my growth in more than just my art and I consider you one of them
In-progress, as in not even more than a sketch of the body
Well, since you're the one who responded to my request on the lounge and you made this thread I felt this was a better place to put the discussion, I chose your Death image and I'll probably be done by next friday.
I may get into this, I love Lovecraft

I wouldn't worry 'bout that. To be honest, the creature would be a lot better if you started pushing it in the way you want it to go now.
Mkay, six hours from now I'll have something for B
I know you guys mean well, but in the spirit of the project I just don't want to break the rules. I mean I kinda did that with my second contribution and I want someone else to give B a go before I hop on it again or it'll feel like I'm dominating it too much.
Anyway I may take a different letter instead, not sure which yet
I'd go with B but I don't like where it is now, and the changes I'd make are too drastic to be considered possible for B
Wow, I am a progenitor to a thread (kinda). Awesome ;P
As for characters, they are easy to make, I think. My characters are usually parts of my personality blown up and exaggerated. Like East (the guy with the backwards "E" on his beanie) is me in a good mood, my naive-ness and generally childishness. Goggles (the mohawk guy) is my more serious, ambitious and somewhat conceited side, Pierrot is my quixotic side, my bear is how people see me on way but my personality is a different way.
I think making characters analogs for yourself or how you perceive the world works, or make them to serve a purpose in a story.
Makes sense, I wanna collab on a drawing because I want styles to blend in, not like doubles showdown but as if the two people are working on the drawing concurrently. But I'm going through your gallery now ;P
Wow, faved by someone with more skill than me, thanks 50, my day is made

Whichever seems more fun to you, I'd say collabing with you on a drawing would be preeetty intresting but if you don't have time then we should do the first one.

When I draw guys they look like this
Also, maybe you need to do an art trade with me Ash, then you can draw a person hehehe
YEAH?
Anyone wanna do an art trade or collab with me? ;D The fun-ness of drawing Lux's character makes me wanna do a couple more

Now that you say that, I figure I should add a space background in, to imply bigness
Kay so, in my opinion, art has meaning to it, pretty much 70% of my drawings are supposed to tell a story or describe an emotion. I usually employ symbols and stuff for people to catch. To me I want everyone to see a picture and think it's awesome.
Judging by that guy's gallery and what he's said. He likes art that's pretty. Which so happens to be the thing I hate most.
A lot of people don't wanna think when they see a picture. They want it to be pretty, which usually translates to "theywant a master's technique to be visibly evident". Which is a paradox because part of being an artist tends to be that your hand is supposed to be invisible. But, in any case, your specific style which would be classified as surreal is even more "annoying" because it's more specific to thinking.
I guess it all boils down to, as long as you reach someone with your art (even if that someone is yourself) and they understand what you're trying to do, then that's what matters. I could careless about thirty "I love this" comments, but the one that says "I get the message", that's the one you remember. So this "Lord I have to think" comment is just as pointless at the "I love this" comments. Just get over it.
