Response to: My art thread (impatient) Posted March 23rd, 2009 in Art

first off it you aren't going to learn some patients then if you haven't hit your limits then you soon will.
People are naturally impatient so we all have to learn.
You can take that how ever you want.

Now that I'm done being rude, I'll evaluate a bit better.
Sketches and gestures should be quick and crude, but they should also show your building blocks and technique. But you need a better understanding of anatomy before you get too far.

So my first piece of advice is to buy some books or look up some anatomy on the net, and no I don't mean porn.

Second, take time with your art, If your serious about being an artist then you'll make the effort. it'll pay off in the end.

Post some more and I'll come back to give more advice

I'm not saying it won't work. You can animate it just fine, it's just that that might haunt your subconscious a little.
Just animate it normally and it should be fine. but ig you get the chance later, give it a fix and repost it so we can see it. also don't forget to post your animation so we can watch it, I look forward to it.

so it's a single mesh made from one polygon, gotcha.

and no offense, but
you should unbind the mesh from the bones and fix the mesh then rebind it. honestly it kind of hurts to see the skewed anatomy

I'm pretty sure that isn't possible, do you mean one mesh? What program did you use on it?

On another note. here is something I was goofing around with, check my profile for another view

Response to: Portfolio Artwork Posted March 18th, 2009 in Art

the art institutes are actually fairly easy to get into, you onyl need a portfolio if you are majoring in animation it just helps if u have one
also no SATS required
just a simple 150 word essay (for the one in boston at least, its the one i go to)

Phoenix didn't even require a full on portfolio for me, just a couple examples.
but the courses are fast and can get hard quick. at AIPX we have a 70%drop out rate with in the firsty year. and then a 50% drop rate of what is left in the last year. so yeah, it's easy to get in but sometimes hard to survive if your not exceptionally talented. sadly I wasn't I've had to get better as I go

You must be

in the terms of sales
if a drawing can sell over a 100 prints on it's good or at least appealing. if it alone can sell a 1000 prints then I can consider it great.

Nice piece. "The Fox and the Hound," is one of my favorite movies. I need to get another copy of it.

Response to: Draw your fav. Disney character Posted March 13th, 2009 in Art

wtf is she supposed to be? I mean she looks like a retarded ferret imo.

dude, "A Goofy Movie," was quite a big hit when I was a kid, and I think it looks spot on for her. you should check out your local video store and rent a copy or something, it's pretty good.

Response to: Ratings Please? Posted March 13th, 2009 in Art

I give it a 3
this is the scale being 1 as a person who just started drawing and a 10 is a pro
the biggest thing to look at is that anatomy. it is off big time. Even for an Anime-esk style the ear is really off and the face is much to thin with an addition of a very pointy chin. Also the eyes on the face. shrink it down a tad, don't make it streach from the brow to just above the lip, just way too big. After shrinking it down, change the glare and then put in more detail. On to the hair. with the simplistic style you should move away with the strand hair like that. go with solid shapes.
lastly careful of your shading, it 's a little fuzzy. try your best to make it crisp.

I know this is a bit harsh, but it's good drawing for a beginner. keep working. I would like to see more.

it takes weeks maybe month for some people to come up witha main charicter

it took seth macfarlane 6 mths to come up with peter

im doinf this is a couple of days :p, im just getting other peoples opinions

and not only that, you have to develop that character greatly. this is whay concept artist, character designers and lead animators get paid so much and work so hard. they ave alot they have to do. most well known characters i the world today have had a lot of time and development put in to them, and thats is before they even really got started

Response to: Movies That Would Make A Good Game Posted March 10th, 2009 in Video Games

Starship Troopers.
I know they did one in '05, but to be honest it kind of blew, A much better game could be made. Also add an Online war mode. Have every body fighting bot bugs, and after you achieve a certain rank or something, you can play as a bug as an unlockable feature and kill soldiers, also as you move up you should be able to command a Marauder.

Also The Roadwarrior, I know that the fallout series got many ideas from the movies, but they could have some real fun with that. plus I would love to drive a v8 interceptor

#1: Master Chief and Samus Aran
Obviously Samus ripped off Master Chief from the awesome Halo series. You get one of the greatest games ever on the greatest console ever and you have Nintendo go ahead and rip off the character. "Ohhh, but we made our character female." It doesn't matter you guys are just ripping of Bungie.

2:Crono and Goku
Crono is the main chracter from Crono Cross and Goku is the awesome main character from Dragonball Z. The animators obviously did a very good and hard job trying to recreat Goku's image for the game. Obviously they fell short because nothing can be as good as the original. Maybe if they hired on the Goku's artist then Crono could look a lot better from Crono Cross.

Are you honestly this misinformed. please do your fact checking before going off on a ignorant rand.

First. Samus isn't a rip of the Chief, if anything it's actually the other way around. Metroid came out at least a dozen years before halo.

and then the Goku/Chrono bit. now listen closely cause I'm going to say this as nicely as I can, They are drawn, and created by the same animator dumbass.
thank you.
Please do your research befor submitting something so pathetic.

ok, im looking into getting some really good quality pens and maybe even a light box
next time i do one ill try rember to ink it in and go over it a couple of times

Careful, Light boxes can be expensive. If you are good with building eletrical lighting and woodworking, I advise you build yourself a custom one. It's a lot cheaper that route. or have some one build it for you. but that is beside the point.
And in words to a few others, imitating a style is not as bad as it sounds. It is a good way to get the basics down, and in time you'll develop your own style. Just make sure you credit the style your using.

Response to: Different Styles Posted March 9th, 2009 in Art

ok, here is one thing that kind of bothers me. although your lines are sketchy, you need to make the lines a little more complete, after you do the sketch go over the line again to solidify it.
Also it looks like your using a Ball-point-pen, this is fine, but it lacks any under drawing . do an under drawing or your sketch in pencil and then the rest in ball point or what ever you choose to ink it in

He would probably be shot down and killed in the first day, Why you ask, well saying he is a typical american from the 1940's he mostlikely ins't agressively racest, but most likely he would say something wrong to the wrong person, and well...they would shoot him. o.o...morbid but simple

your right, he didn't claim he was famous, or at least not outright. But he makes in his post he sure as hell makes himself out to be important.
