no problem, Just trying to do my part for the Terra Federation.... er I mean Art Forum.
you also might want to lay out what kind of story it is, (you don't have to go in to details) and what type of art style you are looking for.

good luck in your quest for an artist.

It's black and white, s nothing really elaborate or demanding there, and it's only 20-some pages. If you're interested, PM me and I can give you all the details.

Thank you.

And in compliance with the forum rules, here is the pic.

not really to complain, but most comic book artist get payed 18-30 bucks a page, maybe even more in some places, and thats if they just do the base art and not the inks or colors or typography and phonics.

Although I guess being a quick and low end production a 100 dollars seems ok. But what about rights, and royalty fees if you plan on selling this?, does the artist get a bonus for every copy sold? Perhaps a little incentive such as a cut after production costs of some sorts.

Basically I want to know more on your plans with this comic. this is stuff that should be included in the initial post.

and to be fair there is also a request thread. you may want to try and ask there as well.

No offense but it's very hard to see the the differences from your OC and the FFVII characters.
your art reminds me of another artist's style who was also trying to use a similar Garfield style.

As for a review of the art thus far, its barely par. I can see some viewing this and being on the line on weather it deserves it's own thread or not.

Your second and third picture are much better than your original and I kind of wish that you had gone with one of those instead instead
the cell phone needs a little more definition, right now it's hard to tell where the contour lines of the phone are if not for a change in tone.

The Final Fantasy picture could use some shading, a proper ground plane for everyone to stand on and, this last comment goes along with your first picture as well, anatomy.

Looks clean, you could've scaled the lower right a little bit bigger to get some more pixels to spend.
What resolution are you working on? 1024²?

Nah, I'm pulling 2048. Yeah I know big, right? I haven't gotten the hang of working with a 1024 much less a 512. But either way, even though the map looks small here, I have plenty of room inside photoshop.

Pants look goodm the vagina-neck-sweater-thingamajig not so much :P
You going with a specular as well?

I might do a specular, but I really doubt it. Mostly because there are only a few places where it would really come in handy on this one. I also couldn't think on what to do with that neck thing,,, I mean really, I couldn't.... maybe if I put some sort of bump pattern on it or something...

I have been so absent minded lately... I noticed twice today that the shirt I had on had a pocket on the front I didn't notice before.. I also cut my foot today but didn't realize it until I started smelling blood, by this time I had smeared the blood on my jeans and tracked it on my freshly vacuumed carpet...didn't notice my level... forgot to check my e-mail....

bad habit i know

wait, you don't have to attend class at all?
talk about lucky. if we missed more than 3 classes we were booted from the class and would have to take it over. Just missing one class was automatic drop by one letter grade...

Well... one thing always seems to come to mind when I see something drawn on line paper, and that is laziness.
Besides that one thing I also feel other things varying on the quality of the piece. Stuff like lack of compassion. It's like the person didn't feel like it was worth a clean sheet of paper to draw on.

Probably the reason I feel like that is because when I see a line paper drawing I think the only reason that this was produced is because someone was bored with class or a meeting. And I feel that such drawings are void of attention.

This definitely feels like one of those drawings. Don't take this as an insult, and I guess it is possible that you have nothing else to draw on, but perhaps something not on line paper would be nice.

As for the actual drawing, The flames in the back, or what I assume is flames flying out the back, don't feel like fire at all. I think you would have had better luck with the stylized flames that you had on the front of the shell. I would have also liked to see some texture on the shell as well. The shell seems smooth and could have benefited from a turtle pattern of sorts

The legs seems to kind of just stab up in to the shell instead of flowing in to the shell like they should. This breaks the illusion of depth on the upper legs. On the feet some better perspective would have been nice. His foot on his far left leg is bigger than his middle leg. You should have went ahead and drew his fourth leg. With the perspective you are working in, you would have seen that leg. A trick if you didn't want to confuse the viewer is to not add detail to that back leg but just have the contour and the rest shaded in.

Looking at the head, I'm having trouble determining the rotation of the head. The forehead looks to be tilted away from the viewer more than the mouth. The fangs seem off as well. I'm not sure if I am seeing one big one and a small one beside it, or two small ones with one big one in the middle.

Over all it seems as if you need to look in to some anatomy tutorials on both humans and animals.
perhaps some digital touch ups would have helped. If nothing else then at least to get out the line paper and to crop the image. try www.gimp.org for a good free image manipulation program
If this was in the portal, I would have to say 1/5, 2/10.

Ah I mean the like area like above and below and around the eye socket should show a round shape more :P ...and the eyelid looks like it ends in a sharp edge so I think you need to give it a bit more thickness.

thinking back, if your looking at the face with the hair, then that one doesn't have the face corrections that I did. Including the eye lid.
The render above it is much more up to date.
but even then, the eye lid is much thicker than you think it is.

well it's not just the eye socket, it's also the eyelid. so it actually wouldn't be round at all but, well the shape of an eye.I guess elliptical is the right word.
If this model was intended to be just that, a model then I wold have modeled the eyes in place, but since I plan to rig and animate it, then I will wait on putting the actual eye ball in until I get ready to rig the eye moment.
Also upon rigging I will rig the eye lid as well so I can open and close the eye as well.

I do my rigging in Maya since it is a better program for it.

well Max and Maya are about the same, but Maya has a better user interface when rigging.
