Work on some basic proportions and then some lighting and shading. After that just some continual general drawing practice.
Perhaps you should post some of your sketch work.

Not to throw any monkey wrenches in to any machines here, but this sounds really similar to trace bitmap in flash, and the more accurate live trace in Illustrator.
also the examples you posted seems to look like what live trace produces...
None the less I'm pretty intrigued by your claims. I'm going to try it out myself and compare the results. Who knows this program could be better.
Well, to be a bit blunt, your work isn't very appealing or very good. You need quite a good bit of practice. Start learning the basics. Hop to our Art 101 Section for some pointers or over to Drawspace for some basic lessons
Secondly, your not scouted, so unless people go to your profile, or are browsing the unscouted section of the portal, they won't see your work.
Orn's Scouting Guide will give you more information over this.
Lastly, you haven't really advertised yourself or your work. You have no movies or music published and you only have seven post. So what you need is to get out a little more. Frequent the BBS more and get a bit more known.
ONe of the best pieces of advice I can give other than reading some tutorials and practicing your art work is to make a Perosnal Art Thread here in the Art Forum so we can see your work, give critique and feedback to help you improve. It will get you a little more known on NG, help you improve your work, and give you a place to document your progress.
Give it some thought.
Well, you should start posting your pieces here as well as links to them in the art portal.
Post your wips, post your sketches and doodles. Post it all. It will all help us get a good handle on you and get you much more feedback.
So Yeah buddy, stat posting, and we'll start critiquing.

Aw. I was going to turn this in to a murder mystery.
but I took too long...
I was going to do a big dramatic "TELL ME EVERYTHING!" post due to my new job acquirement, but it seems as others have beat me to it, even if it was less zealous than I would have gone.
Sadly though, much of my new job is type setting and building warning labels and stuff like that. Lots of typography, and little actual drawing. But as I keep saying, its a start. And I can deal with that.

Hands continue to be a hell for me as well, but we all got to start somewhere.
Got anything more recent?
Its cool if you don't. But keep in mind we want to see your works in progress just as much as we wanna see the final project

I learn a lot better just watching other drawings or real life, and memorizing patterns.
That is a good way to start, but a little study never hurts. Actually right now I'm doing an excercise for more fluid lines while watching some cartoons. So basics never hurt.
I would like to see some of your pencil/pen and paper work though. even if it is just to see the gap between your digital and traditional skills

I'm not really a fan of typography, it turns out, lol.
I kind of like this, but some of the thigns are hard to read.
I'm just now trying to learn proper typography myself, so I just might be talking out my ass right now.
The "December" is really hard to read. I had to look at it a little longer to make sure I was reading it right. I think if you could add more Kern (Spacing, my boss says its called Kern, so I believe him) to it might make it more legible, but that will most likely disrupt the flow of the cursive writing, so you will probably have to choose a new font.
I'm liking the top text and how it is drop-shadowed(?) its self, but it doesn't work so well for the bottom text. it makes me feel like I have blurred vision. I think you should match the top font more.
Also something interesting I have learned lately. Take some of your important words, and increase the size of the first letter of those words. it really helps make them stand out for some reason
holy shit, I am learning something from Mr. Mort
Shitty example attached.
I really hope this production goes well. and I hope you get your flyer chosen to advertise the play.
Likeing the 3rd and 1st pic so far. the second one, not so much.
Carry on my friend, keep that pencil moving.

um, you do know that in the Art portal that everyone's voting power is only counted as 1, right? Our increased power isn't added to the Art portal. If memory serves, it only applies to the Flash portal.
So how about actually knowing about something before you try and use it to make yourself look like a victim again.
Moving on from this stupidity.
The art portal works, its not a perfect system, its not a complete system, and its not always fair but it has the core spirit of Newgrounds where the users have a say in what they see and want. And that makes it a great system for Newgrounds
We already have a thread like this. Go take a look and have fun drawing.

Please forgive me for my ignorance.
Ps. I will leave some of my work within this forum, maybe you can tell me what you think..
Asking questions is nothing to be ashamed of. Its how we learn.
To start Graphic design and being a tattoo artist will go hand and hand for pretty much all of it. Most different art skills and techniques tend to bridge, blend and cross over one another quite a bit. so learning a little of both will help both of your desired career paths flourish.
A pretty general conciseness of tablets is to go for the Wacoms. A Wacom Bamboo is pretty cheap and a good start. it'll give you the feel for how they work for a good price. As you grow as an artist by using your tablet, you'll find out if you like your tablet or not. If you like the tablet, you can upgrade in a few years to a bigger one, and if you don't, then at least you didn't lose a lot of money.
odds are you'll like it to some extent though.
Although don't expect to be very good with the tablet right away. This discourages a lot of people. They get a tablet and find that they are better on paper than on the tablet. It takes time to get used to. I'd say at least a months solid practice to really get acquainted to it.
Ok, I've rambled enough.
Nice start pic too.

yeah, but I think I'm off the hook for that one... for now.
Tomorrow I gotta vector a penguin. and then do some filing, and if I feel like it, I got handed my first logo assignment that I can work on. Its got to be some sort of tractor tire or something.
Although Mr. Mort can come in any time and tell me to work on something else. He is the boss after all.

The ad is for the screen printing shop its self. Mailers that we send out to advertise.
I'll figure out how to make them darker in Corel....eww! who the hell uses that app anymore?
my 88 year old boss...
trust me, I wish I could use Illustrator or something... but gotta use what they provide
it also doesn't help that I'm using Coreldraw x4
I'm not great with color, never real have been, so this is my chance to practice and get some feed back. Thanks for the help so far.
So.... anyone have any good color schemes that go along with wood textures and wood colors?
Splyth suggested a dark green. Kind of like forest green. I think it might work, but I wanna have a couple ideas in my arsenal for tomorrow.
See I'm working on an ad, and the background is being changed to a wood texture. And none of the previous colors work with it, so tomorrow at work I get to try and recolor the ad.
Most of the wood colors are close to a gold/yellow/orange but if Mr. Mort wants them to be darker, then as Cthulhu as my witness I'll figure out how to make them darker in Corel.
So as I said, anyone got any suggestions?

so yeah use it to get a little feed back, some nice comments and to hone your skills.

I'd advise it to anyone who fancies themselves a gamer or a nerd.

its simple.
Hiryu is a whiny bitch.
if someone doesn't give him a good handjob every time they post to him, Hiryu goes off on a pissy rant and rampage disrupting the entire Forum.
thus its easier for us to delete our post, which we really don't care about, than to listen to his temper tantrums.
I really hate Hiryu, but this works. and everyone goes on about their lives happy, sort of.
I was really hoping he'd get bored by now and leave, but he hasn't. So far this has been his longest stent with us. He must be going for a new personal best.

What'd your nephew go as?
I took my Nephew out this year, just like last year, and My family thinks I do it cause I'm a nice guy, but I actually do it for a cut of the candy.
He's 4, so he went as Batman. Last year he went as a TMNT

Halloween is a great time of year- it's a pity adults get less into it than kids. We should totally hold a costume contest.
Yes. Lets mark the calender.... This could be lots of fun for people who fabricate things more than just paint or draw. It's probably be real fun for Majestic Bob.
