I'm actually trying to improve my handwriting as of late. Well, I've been trying for some time now actually, but with the help of my boss, and a renewed interest in letter setting and typography, I have been trying harder than I was.
well, even with Pixel Tools, it'd probably be much easier to make pixel art in a raster based program. So try Graphics Gale, or photoshop, or even MS Paint.

it worked last time just fine... more or less
My M&A entry not much compared to the others but it will serve its purpose.
and since it seems to be the thing for our floods. might as well keep with tradition.
Anyway, I'm in.

Tits and ass.
Especially in the thumbnail.
Yeah no joke. even tested it myself.
ToaS, your review on that succubus still makes me laugh. :3
Hey kid,
I like the detailing you got going on that tentacle.
Carry on kid, carry on...

their have been, but they never get used. so they just float to the bottom and forgotten
whoa, sounds like a lot of work. Good luck getting the help you need.
Try contacting this guy Captain-Carrion Hes a good pixel artist, but I don't know if he will help you or not.
Also Big Jonny had some good pixel pieces a while ago. But he really doesn't specialize in it.
To be honest, not many of us at all specialize in pixel art.
Good luck all the same.

oshit...
this is the second person I thought was a woman... shame on me.
and here I am being reminded of the time when they thought Nae and I were the same person. Imagine that haha
To be honest, i didn't mean that comment for hiryu. It was pretty muchfor everyone else but him. Iwhat good would it do, some things can't be fixed. Trust me, i tried.
Man, talk about a rough afternoon. My designs for this companie's decals were pretty much ripped to shreds. He though about 50% of the content was bad. Mostly my lettering. We ended up even doing overtime working on them and making them better.
I haven't been critiqued that rough since college. It was actually not too bad. Sure I was annoyed, but it was really worth the feedback and all the tips and pointers my boss gave me. He showed me where I went wrong and how to fix it. He explained why it needed to be a certain way, and that in another circumstance, I might have otherwise made a right choice. In the end he made me print both my old design and the new one and made me look at them and compare them.
And he we right. the fixes look a shitload better. they are more legible, they stand out and they are much more interesting.
So let it be an example to a couple users out there. Just because someone is rough with you and almost everything you do gets called shit, don't take it personally. Listen to the person and try and really understand why they are saying what they are. Do your best to use the advice they give and learn from your mistakes. Look at the links people give you, look at the paint overs and corrections people draw on your piece and finally embrace an open mind required for self improvement.
This has got to be one of the most disturbing self portraits I have ever done. I really wasn't digging it at first. My first thoughts were along the lines of "Damn, this is insane, Ben's insane, all those damn lines are insane." But the more I used it the more natural it started to become and the placement of the lines seemed to just flow to where they needed to be.
I should have gone back and touched up the chin though. it was one of my first areas before I found the groove. To be honest it probably wouldn't be too bad of an idea to go back and do one or two more portraits in this style. Perhaps I'll pull up some more of those reference photos I keep hording.
and like many of my other self portraits, this one too is prettier than the real thing :3
not bad for about 1 hour in my opinion.
welcome to the art forum.
not bad so far. keep posting.
its always good to have a new influx of good cartoon art around here.
Ah, that time of year again. I'm really going to have to start taking notes through out the year to keep track of all this stuff, well I should have some good ideas of who I want to vote for after I look back over some threads from the year.

Its just Captain not, isn't it...anyway I think I'll try a self portrait in his style.
Probably not tonight, but most likely tomorrow.
haha Has it already been so long since I have been on stickam that my face have once again faded in to the realm of myth and legend?
man, you all lead such active lives when I'm not here to lurk over you.

Well, the thing that grabs someone's attention will always be different from person to person.
And even with some people, myself included, will vary from day to day and change with my mood. Things that usually stand out more often though would be really strong line work and strong shading in black and white pictures. And in color pictures well... I don't know... guess that just varies too much

Anyone willing to roast up a print screen for the Captain?
Here ya go. its at least a good chunk of it. sadly I have to get some sleep or else I'd do a better job with it.
man, this conversation is getting boring to lurk to.
not to mention kind of a downer the way a bunch of us are pulling the holier than thou routine.
oh lordy lordy, we should have been nice, woo!
The subject has be discussed, cussed and fussed over enough already.
Lets talk about something much more interesting. Like the new background.
At first it felt like it was done by two artist, but then I realized that Farturast made good use of his lighting and hangles and line work to give off a very different feel in the different parts of the piece.
meh... conversation got a but too wordy for me....
but I did catch something about Ol' Honest Abe tea-baggin a certain plumber's peach.
Now that would be something fin to see.

in the end, I really wanted to mention some thing.
At the place I work, we do charge $25 an hour for logo design. But their is a reason for that. These are companies, with a bit more riding on the logo than some YouTube-jocky. With these companies there is a lot more back and forth with design ideas and proofs and what not. So its a bit more work than just churning out something for someone and saying take it or leave it.
And with the comment that the guy didn't feel like art was a blah blah blah, who gives a fuck. The shit was going down well before that comment came up.
I think the comment that Otto made about him just being in the wrong place at the wrong time was just about on the money. It happens from time to time. I understand we all want to comment and get our +1 in but can we at least try and be nice about it?
like I'm one to talk on that one.
So yeah Next time, if its simple enough, just give it a quick shot. If they take it, great problem solved, we move on, if they don't take it, then oh well, you got photoshop open and you got a few minutes of practice.
Of course if they want to make change after change after change, which I'm pretty sure thats what we're all actually afraid of then you can play the take it or leave it asshole card, just not in public.
oh hey, I was remembered for my charity work, sweet.
Here is a colored version of Scrotox and a Shiny Scrotox, nicknamed BlueBollocks

well....
obviously the shading is completely flat.
Think of your character in more of the 3rd dimension and think of it in relation to the light source.
Like basic geometric shapes, your character is not flat. he has bumps, ridges, protrusions and intrusions.
Practice drawing some simple shapes and then light and shade them. it will really help you get the basic grasp of shading and from there you can move on to more complicated shapes such as characters.
Dark has a thread that will help. Go check it out.
googling shaded Spheres really provided a simple base to think of when doing basic shapes/
Man, the forum has been dead lately...
Lurking is no fun if no one is chatting....
don't you have any other symbols or anything else that you think should be included? Or is the monogrammed letters all you guys got?
Been practicing some fancy hand writing. Did the initial rough by hand then inked and added a splash of color in Photoshop.
wacom bamboo will probably do you just fine.
does anyone else love that bullshit excuse of not being able to critique something because it was intentional or it was someone's style?
cause I sure do
Not great.
You should work on the under lying structure more. Using geometric shapes likr a circle or a very wide ellipse or an egg shape will help you get the head even and proportional.
Asymmetrical should look intentional, not like you just couldn't draw both sides evenly.
Also, since I read this tip earlier today and it is fresh in my head, you should draw more than just a face and a little bit of a head. Draw more of the body. It will help out the composition greatly. Think like a sculptor and how they do a bust or a head of a sculpture. They have much more than just a simple face.
