Sometimes when I animate a scene, I feel that I get too focus on one scene while I should be paying attention to the overall movie. I say if your doing a project for a client or as homework, just try to get it done before the deadline but if your doing your own project, try to find a right balance between "taking your time" and "rush."

The proportions are a little off but what I mainly would like to know is how much people divide animation into layers when it comes to this kind of stuff? This particular one is all fbf.
not bad but for a fast walk its too stiff. Try giving the torsos a slight rotation as it moves forward and back. An example is when the right leg moves forward, the right side of the hip moves forward too. its the same effect for the top torso except to moves the opposite of the lower torso.
@SeniorWolfy: I'll post this in the portal once its done. :)
Need to work on my smoke but I dont see its worth testing much. This is the last scene for my WIP movie and now I need to compile all my rough clips to see if it looks good.

I did an attempt of a punch before without using sticks. I only have the keyframes so far but I'll complete it once I did all my rough animations. Maybe this could be of help for you.

I posted this somewhere else so I'll copy it paste it here because its the same point:
ll the legs appear to be landing at the same time while I believe it suppose to land at a various but a rhythmic pace. I attempted a horse walk cycle before and it was hard to grasp. Videos from Richard William's "Animator's survival kit" helps a lot. Here's some here about a horse but you can loosely apply the idea some any animal walking on 4-legs:

True. If your unsure which design to use, do a test animation to see if you can control it stability. Try drawing it at different angles to see if its working for you.

Thank you. I still consider myself a noob and still learning as I create these clips. When I feel more comfortable with my ability, maybe I'll write a tutorial.
Still need more in-betweens in the explosion but I thought this turned out nicely. This was done quicker than expected. One more scene to go.

Just to add, i think you can achieve a fight scene in at least 9 fps if you cleverly plan out the scene. Animators tend to make blur/smear drawings to compensate for the low frames.
Depends. My setting is 24 fps but the actual animation is 12 fps. I use this setting because the 24 fps can give a smooth camera move. I do my animations frame by frame so I use 12 fps for sanity sake. If your using just tweens, id say go for 24 fps.

Even if you draw well, animation is a whole different beast as requires a lot of control. I would say do short clip lessons until you want to do a bigger project. An example if these short clips is a bouncing ball or play with silhouette figures.
Sound design. Sound can either make or destroy the animation. A show with bad animation but great sound direction can really turn the show into gold while great animation and bad sound can destroy the whole show. I find sound can set the pace of a scene whether its foley sound effect, voice action, and music.

felt same when i discovered that you can click and drag + hold alt a frame to do a simple copy and paste from the timeline.

also if you have more hints i'll be MORE than gratefull of that...
Thank you all from now! and be happy!

I am not sure what your saying but so I assume you want to simply add music into your flash. Open a blank layer and create a blank keyframe. Select that blank keyframe than go to [file->import->import->import to stage] than select music you want to add.

There isnt really much to feedback on so I'll just throw things out. Eyes dont blink with an ease in and an ease out. It eases in than slams into a close. Perhaps a slight head turn when she looks into the right so its a stronger indication for the character is looking at that direction. Try to break down movements"step by step" and dont move objects them at the same time. An example is blink first than smile (unless your working in low frames).

He looks like he is skating. Maybe if you add a slight bounce on the upper torso area as the feet hit the ground, it could give some weight. Your proprotions is great though.
I do my storyboards on photoshop and than place them in premiere with sound just to get an idea of how the movie would appear. I than do my animations loosely based on the timing of my premiere. I used to try to animate fully on photoshop but I like flash's inking with the vectors and the ability to edit multiple frames all at once. I use photoshop mainly for backgrounds and planning.
You definitely need more practice. You can save your practice animations on your newground animation storage called "dumping grounds" and post it here http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1213240/29 to get feedback. People tend to help if you point out the specific problems yourself. You can start out with a simple bouncing ball animation to focus on the timing.

Do you have any animation experience at all? You should check out this thread http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1204483 where it was a lot of tutorials. In my personal experience on learning animation, I watched videos of "animator's survival kit" and I swear by it because it teaches the the very basics. If your totally new, I recommend you doing small exercises until you feel comfortable enough taking bigger projects. Animation is hard to grasp if your completely new but its a rewarding experience.
I honestly think it should be done after the right-slug ate the left. I simply lost interest after that scene. The scream and eating scene couldve been done better by exaggerating the right-slug's face size but I thought it was nicely animated overall. I'd say go on with another project and take what you learn from this project and do it better in the next.
Thanks. Yes they look chooppy when shown in full screen and it needs more frames. I'll redo everything once I get all my roughs done.

I can't do this alone, so I want to make a collab.
HELP!!!
You should post this in the collab forum as you should get more feedback from there. Collab forum is here http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/forum/19
Looks better. You should do another one but more subtle. The forced extended of the limbs of the walk is arkward (unless that is your intention). You should try controlling block shapes so you can get better control of your figures and to lower the squiggly effect of your lines.
I never used it but I heard It auto resizes all your objects when you resize the stage. I thought that was quite neat and much easier than resizing everyting with the "edit multiple frame" option.
Its walking too fast. I usually add a step sound effect as a placeholder to get my timing right. It does not look like a relaxed walk. It kind of looks like a person on a NordicTrack machine. keep on going as you'll get better if you do more.
