I've never once heard that about the "right" way to play. I've heard stuff like those removal of features, but they're just ways to make the game different and not so repetitive. There is no "right" way like that; it's just ways to spice up gameplay. Making it different, challenging, and above all, just a different way to enjoy Smash Bros.
when virtually most of the fanbase holds in esteem this ritualistic attitude, it putrefies the series and makes it intolerable to play with others.
Yeah, it's really annoying when you can hear them online and pollute the fanbase entirely in game like Call of Duty does.

And you think you're the only one? I doubt there is even a single player out there who has completed Super Meat Boy without at least dying on some stage or another on a playthrough. That's its kick: its difficulty. You're gonna die in the game, no matter how you look at it. It's a game of memorization, and trying and figuring out the level. But I guess you don't like difficulty? That or don't like hard games that you die a lot.
I'll be getting neither as I have no DS. I HAD one, but it's broken and probably under the ocean right now.
Maybe when I get the 3DS (backerds-compatibility, I think), I'll pick Black up later than its release. I always manage to get the first named one that comes out.

There's something about having a console you can play that doesn't compare to emulation. Emulation's kinda frowned upon here as well. Some people are also collectors, so they pay to get old consoles like the NES and Atari 2600, for some examples. That's like me -- I love getting old consoles.
I can see emulation being a little useful for foreign games or games that are just way out there to obtain, but there's something about having a physical console that you can't get with emulation.
You sound a LOT like Chuggaaconroy. I'm watching your Super Meat Boy playthrough, and it's pretty good. You need to commentate a little more, or at least give a few pointers on the game. Still, it's entertaining and good quality recording, too.
My K/D ratio is probably around 0.8 to 1.5 on the Wii version. If I'd play the Xbox version, it'd be MUCH lower.
In general, Super Meat Boy is tough. Very tough. As far as a single level, I would say mission 5 in Modern Warfare 2. I am stuck beyond mental comprehension on that particular part.
The dogs, man... THE DOGS WON'T STOP...

You can look around local pawn shops. That's where I got mine. You can find a good one anywhere between $25 to $50 USD. If that doesn't yield any results, look around eBay for some deals. They usually come in bundles with several games.
I found this beast that plays both SNES and NES games for $30. You might want to look into that as well.

Super Meat Boy and VVVVVV are new and good 2D platformers out now. As for sh'mup, I don't know. Doesn't Japan usually have control over those? If I recall correctly, there were a couple of them for PC. These genres ain't dead, but just overshadowed because of the FPS and TPS craze. And seeing how they're still making adventure games, I don't see these genres going just yet.
Playin' Super Meat Boy as we speak!

Super Paper Mario was also pretty dark near the end. The characters actually died and went to hell. I'm serious. Play it if you don't believe me.
Plus, this game was overall much harder and longer in my opinion. I still like the original much better and hope they use the same great graphics of Super Paper Mario and incorporate the turn-based fighting of both Paper Mario and Paper Mario TTYD.
That's true. PM2 was much more challenging. I agree.
P.S. I got stuck looking for the stupid seed from the last guy in Forever Forest in the first game.
Through my first run at the game I came across it on accident. At first I found all four. My next run-through was MUCH more time-consuming finding the dang thing.
In the second game, I got stuck at pretty much every place.
Same.
In the third game, however, I didn't get stuck at all, I pretty much knew exactly what to do and where to go, because Pixy and Merlow told you.
Yeah, I was disappointed with the final boss too. Not to spoil anything, but he wasn't much of a challenge at all. Some of the levels were much harder than him.

That is where a lot of ppl get stuck
Yeah. It was actually a puzzle, to which I found the solution later. But I exited the tree, went back, and found out I had to fight my way to the point where I was. ALL. THE. WAY. THERE. Then I rage-qui-- I mean, quit because it was too much work. I've been meaning to get back to it, but man, them bosses...
I find RuneScape boring. I mean, I kinda enjoyed it for the first part, but then it got very tedious and boring. Just too much boring stuff you have to do for a long time to do better boring stuff. I'm not so keen on it. For a Java applet, it's got one heck of a large fanbase.

Make that 5... I don't know what's up with it either. I got to the second chapter and boom, I'm stuck. I beat Paper Mario and Super Paper Mario, though. Same order as OP.

You're just jelly.
Black Ops Wii. I'm having much more fun with that than I ever did with MW2.
GIMP, Photoshop, Paint Tool Sai, Corel Painter, and Inkscape come to my mind. Google those and see which ones tickle your fancy.
This smells like a usual VS. thread. I don't think a tournament over totally different games on totally different platforms would make a fair tournament.

Gee, guys, thanks so much for voting me second worst poster on the BBS. No, seriously, freakin' thank you. I'm sorry I ever started going on these forums. All I wanted to do was voice my opinion and say what I wanted. I did, and people hate me. Oh joy. GOD FORBID I ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTE TO A THREAD.

Only because you did? Let me guess: you're on that "I hate the Wii because moshun cntrls, bad garfx, and kiddie gaems" bandwagon, amirite? The Wii offers a lot of games that can entertain anyone. Too bad, you're too "hardcore" to understand.
Still, for texture hacks and stuff, the Wii's pretty much golden for it. I mean, look at modded Brawl videos. They've made some insane stuff. If you want to modify stuff, the Wii's pretty good.
You should check how it is inside. Is it overheating or is it dusty? I've Google'd some remedies, mainly just checking if the cords are okay and the system itself isn't overheating or the fan doesn't work. I've also read that taking out and re-attaching the hard drive can help. Not sure, though. You'd probably have better luck sending it in to a tech shop or Sony to fix it. I had to send my GameCube once because the games would freeze -- turns our the filters were dusty and it over-heated, and I had to get new fans for it. Hope this helps.
Um... system requirements, maybe?
I bought a Counter-Strike bundle that came with CS:S and 1.6, Day of Defeat, CS: Condition Zero. I also got Super Meat Boy and an indie pack with VVVVVV and Geometry Wars. For consoles I got Wii Sports Resort and CoD Black Ops for Wii (just for kicks and giggles).

I know, I was wondering that myself. I guess Nintendo can't handle anymore lawsuits regarding the situation, so they just cut it. It's the dang people's fault for the stick issues; you don't have to rotate it that hard anyway.
