Hey, an 8.1. That's pretty damn good, you've beaten a shit load of other games by a wide margin. I'm sure the game will appeal mostly to those who were fans of the game when it premiered here though.

Can't wait to play it.

Posted: 08/28/04 11:30 PM

Forum: General

I started visiting this site when I was just 12 or so. I really wouldn't have the same sense of humor or enjoy drawing/animating as much as I do now if I didn't visit this place when I was younger. More kids should visit this site, its where I got my free porn for a long time. You know, before that whole Kazaa thing happened.

And newgrounds could never come to an end, I'm positive of it. Tom is very dedicated to it, and he sure has held on to it longer than most people could. That and NG has kind of taken on a life of its own, since the authors really make NG what it is. Until we kill off every animator, the site can't die.

But that's just how I view things.

Alright, thanks guys. I'll go e-mail Sekky I guess.. dunno quite what to say though. I'd rather talk over a messenger like AIM or MSN and show you what I'm ideas I have in mind.

But thanks a bunch. If I can just find one stable coder I know I could pump out a game a week.

Thanks man. Support is always welcomed, even if I can't do anything with it. :P

But yea, if you like those games you wouldn't believe the shit I have on my hard drive.. collecting.. virtual dust.

MechFighter is by far the best looking game I've done yet(which is why I am so anxious to work on it), and I am going to have a new movie out soon by the name of FruitHeads.

That is the second thing.. if I don't find a coder, it is true that I could continue on with movies. While this wouldn't be horrible... my heart just isn't in movies. I love to make games. Making games in flash helps vent that out a lot. If I was just bound to movies I wouldn't get anything done. Right now I start a movie, work on it for two days.. then never touch it again.

Thanks again.

Forum: Flash

I don't suppose there is any point in saying who I am or what I've done yet, since they probably aren't the most popular games on the portal.

I am in need of another coder yet again. Now before you go off and tell me that I should learn ActionScript myself please take the time to read the next few paragraphs. It will explain why I care not to. If you don't want to, just scroll down until you see a sentence in bold.

Like the title says, I asked this question before, but that was a long time ago(roughly summer of 2001). At that time I had nothing on the portal and was really going for a long shot. I got some decent feedback from the viewers, some of it on the negative side.. but what are you gonna do? It is Newgrounds.

One man though stood up above the others and did offer his services of being a coder for me. That man was EntropicOrder, who is famous for his Roof Top Skater game. I still am amazed that EO did help me at all, considering I had very little to show examples of. He put a lot of faith into me.

My first game with EO was something that seemed like a pretty good idea at the time; Halloween Clock Crew Dress Up. It didn't do so well, but that was mainly because the Clock Crew were in it. However this didn't stop me from making games and what not, considering it only took me a week to do.

Soon afterwards I created another game with EO, this one made out of me just being bored and messing around in flash. I gave it to EO and he coded it in a few hours. That game was Cupcapades and I didn't think it would get a good score either. People voted 0 because of the filesize I always thought.

Alright, so that really doesn't do much though, that was just me testing my feet in the game water. That was still over two years ago. In those two years I have started a crap load of projects, more on those later though.

My next game was Demonic Goat. People liked the filesize this time around, but hated the game for how difficult it was. I'll say that I did ask EO to make the game easier, but he insisted that it stayed the way it was. Since EO was coding in the game I allowed him to keep it. The game did pretty good and made it on the front page.

Then the bad news happened.. EO's house was robbed and he was no longer able to code. Since then he still hasn't. Sucks for me cause I was out of a coder.

But during that time I was working on the Demonic Goat 2 Trailer, , a game that we had hoped to have out soon. Once EO left, I pretty much had no way of completing DG2. Shitty indeed.

So I released Demonic Goat 2 Trailer, and it did better than the game did. I posted there that I was in need of a coder. Another great person stepped foward, this man being Channel_Cat. He has been famous for DBZ in a Nutshell. Wow, I had no idea this guy was a coder. But I took him up on the offer.

This was sometime late last year(around November 2002). The first game I talked CC into was doing another game of mine called MechFighter. We are still working on it.

The problem though is CC is constantly busy. For the first 8 or 9 months we worked we could barely get anything done because CC was grounded from the computer. Now during the summer when he is off of his punishment he is now busy trying to get a job. I rarely if ever can contact the guy. I still am going to work with him, but at this rate we may never get anything done.

Enough with the long past of who I am and what I've done. So as you can see, I have been around for quite some time and am in need of another coder. The reason why I don't want to code myself is because two things happen between a coder and a graphics artist. The first is they can both concentrate on what they are doing and do what they do best. The second is you get two opinions on both coding and graphics. Whenever I work with someone I ALWAYS take suggestions for my ideas and gameplay/graphics.

In case you didn't know, all of the games I have mentioned that I have worked on were my ideas. I just bring them to a coder and hopefully they'll help me create them.

If you are looking for a talented graphics artist before you decide what to code, looking at those previous games may not suit you. The only thing that comes close to what I can do with flash right now is the Demonic Goat 2 Trailer and of course the MechFighter feature at http://www.kenshino.com

So please, if any coders are out there that would help me I would be more than happy to work with you. I work around others schedules instead of my own(hence why it has taken me and CC 9 months to do anything) and I always listen to advice. Not to mention I have a good 20 games in production right now.

I know this post was long, but thanks for reading it if you did. I really don't want to become my own coder, but depending how this turns out I may have to.

Thanks,

Kenshino

The good news is, we have spiced up level one - when we release the new version, expect some fresh suprises before you get to level two!

In other news... I was also hoping to release the game I have been working on with I-Mockery this week. This is also running a little longer than originally planned, but only because we keep making it MUCH COOLER. When Alien Hominid is giving me a headache, rather than taking a walk outside I have been working on this other game. It currently encompasses three different play styles, with a fourth being added next - it is total gaming insanity, and just keeps getting crazier!

For now, we have had some great Portal entries recently, so keep playing with those! :)

Sounds good... o_o.

Hopefully you do get that mystery game out before the second level for Alien Hominid.

I still wish The Final Task was in the top 10 again. Same goes with Kong or any of DFL's episodes. I can't believe how some games/movies make the top 50. Most people turn the thing into a competition. They see a movie/game that they like so they vote 5 on it to get the top spot. After that it becomes a rivalry between the top movies/games(Hentai SimGirl vs SSE3 for example). When will people learn that the Top 50 is for movies that deserve the top spot. The Final Task was submitted almost 2 years ago and it still kicks the shit out of some of the movies before it.

But oh well, my opinions are my own, and I have a friend that completely disagrees with me.

Jesus, would you fucks stop complaining about Pico 2? I'd much rather have Tom come out with 5 games in one year than Pico 2 in like 5 years(hehe). Tom's games(however, usually I refer to the OTHER guy who makes them... since some people don't even realize synj had any help in making games like sacksmash or alien hominid. All the time people only give props to tom. I'll stab thee.) are usually pretty good, and I think if you were to combine all of them into one, you'd end up with Pico 2.

Respond with your thoughts, and check out the post below about Howard Stern!

I'm sorry to say, but that game just isn't metal slug to me. Don't get me wrong, it is an excellent game. I am just used to throwing grenades and shooting at anything that moves. In that game all you have to do is crouch the whole time or just stay above your enemies.

But good job none-the-less. I wish Synj would post in here so I could credit him on his awesome graphics. The final boss(I hope.. not sure... the giant FBI thing with the huge hand... I died the second his giant fist slammed on me) looked fantastic, and was the only real part of the game that reminded me of MS.

Good job both of you, and PLEASE add in grenades! That would make this game so much better. Just grenades and more aerial units.

newdgrounds.com is paradisefor anime-porn lovers but for some straight ass like mine it's an outrageous way to say "I need money..." sorry Tom... but i really don't like the porns ads that we found on newgrounds. It reflects something simply unfunny. Don't you make enough money already with the newd site? Does the site give enough money to let you think and your contributors think about a purification of NG?

I know what newdgrounds is(that is why I suggested it). I don't think Tom should have to remove those porn banners. For one most of them are flat out funny. They aren't that big, and most of them barely show any "porn" related material except for the text. It would be nice if they weren't there... but I don't let them get to me. As long as they don't start becoming annoying(like how some sites have it so while your browsing their site they'll redirect you to a page that loads an advertisement then have a "Click here to continue" link) I don't mind what the NG-staff does to their site.

Just don't take it away.

The only real reasons why I got mad at BaconBurgerClock was for two reasons: 1) There were a LOT better games/movies that made the top 20(in my opinion) that probably took a hell of a lot more time and effort to make than those Josh Bedn movies. 2) As someone previously stated it is more of an inside joke.

When mistary man steils cadny1(I'm shocked I actually memorized that) was #4 on the top 50 of all time that really dissapointed me. How can people say that THAT movie is better than the Deep Fried Live series, Kong, Steaven Segal Episode 3, College Univesity series, The Final Task, or any of the other great movies/games that are on the top 50. I'll admit after forcing myself to watch mistary man steils cadny1 I did like the end, but no where near as much as say DFL.

You should put in the voting system my friend told me. When you sign up you get karma. How you vote will affect your karma. If your karma becomes really low(after voting 0 on almost any movie you see) your voting power won't be as high. People could still vote 0 if they wanted to, but this would be made just to make sure nobody blams everything they see for no real reason. Or if you can't add that for the voting system, then add it for the review system(where all you'd have to do is change the outcome of your voting power to your overall change for the average user review).

Just an idea that I thought was pretty nifty.

Destroy all clocks, destroy the clock crew.

Why not? They aren't doing anything of real good for the site. They might submit good or bad movies, but in the end, they cause trouble. Think about it! If the clocks never exsisted, this topic wouldn't even be here! The BLAM Club probably wouldn't exsist either, and there would be a lot of different movies in the top 50. Personally I think the clock crew should have been destroyed starting all the way back with Strawberry. I'm not saying they are good or bad, but I do say they get too much attention and cause too much commotion on NG.

So here is my proposal: Destroy the Clock Crew and implement the Watch-Before-Voting system. The seinor Clocks (that actually show some effort, that actually care) can always come back under a new, independant name. If a "bad" clock comes back and continues to submit bad flash, delete the movie and the account! I think there need to be strict laws against crap flash.

There are over 50,000 movies on the Newgrounds Portal now. How many of those do you think are good? How big would you think that number is if the Clocks ceased to exist?

Given Wade's numbers of there being 800 clocks, multiply that by at least 4 or 5 movies. Devide that by the 3 or 4 that got blamed... and you get roughly between 1,181 to 1,333 gone from that overall 50,000 submission figure. I wouldn't call the change drastic.. but it would get rid of some movies.

As my friend says, most of the clocks now are just conformity clocks. They all want to be apart of that group for some reason or another. While most people have had problems with the clock crew ever since it started..... me..... I personally didn't mind them back when there were only 4 or 5. I almost supported what they did because the users made it into more than it was. But now..... 800 clocks? Who in the hell let in all these other ones? They should be sent to hell JUST for using the name clock.

About Newgrounds changing...... I really hope it does. I remember coming here back in early 2000 and really loving this place. I couldn't get enough. But then sometime after that yellow layout was put in I stopped coming here..... mainly out of boredom.. and the portal started going to hell. This place just isn't as fun as it used to be.

Gooseberry_Clock has a score of 2864 with 2964 votes on a picture at EntropicOrder.com. The next 13 highest rated pics are all by clocks, with at least 200 votes each.

The top 2 member sites on EntropicOrder.com are clock sites, with thousands of votes each, the next site having approximately 40 votes.

Both NG and EO don't require memberships to vote, but use IP addresses (I'm assuming) instead. I believe there are clocks who use IP spoofing to waste everyone's time.

Voting honestly becomes pointless. Submittions to portals based on rank become pointless. The portal loses quality submissions and features nothing but cheater's work, which is bound to be worthless.

Should voting be restricted to only email verified members, so that those members who obviously cheat can be more efficiently banned? Should accounts be verified by more than email? I recommend NG does something, because I plan to do something myself.

you do not have to single out the clocks, the fact is gooseberry almost certainly is email spoofing, being first on the fannet and on your site, but as with movies, the work of one clock (cough cough 'b' cough cough) cannot be used as a basis to judge all others... give us a chance and if ur gunna make such comments i would be grateful for you to direct it at ng as a whole, rather than singling out the clockcrew, for whome the possibly intigator isnt even a seniour... that is all

-Dark

Dude, EO isn't saying all clocks are cheating. He is just saying someone MIGHT be cheating, and the movies they MIGHT be cheating on just happen to be from a clock. If you read the replies for those Josh Bend movies, almost every clock seems to think it is the greatest movie ever.

I don't see why do people even make clock names anymore. It would be very easy for one clock to come out of the woodwork and mess up your guys reputation(like someone might be doing now).

still love the site, but people who make parodies of Newgrounds like Fuck Society are unfortunately dead-on. )

And sometimes, the crappy flash movies end up making the top 5, because there aren't enough good movies to compete, or simply because the good ones only appeal to a certain fanbase, and not the majority of Newgrounds users. Or if you submit content only a few hours before the new top 5 gets updated, it's not going to be easy to compete with the movies which already got more votes. And while I do notice some people will probably try to give something a 5 cus it has tits or gay-bashing, I don't think it would really be possible to fudge the score, when you add to the fact that the site tends to crash a lot before your vote even gets through. (This happens to me anyway.)

Hell, just looking for the .swf on the search engine alone can be a pain in the ass if you forget the exact name, or if it might've been deleted! (And if it gets pushed down on the Portal, you're really fucked.) So I guess I'm going to say that EntropicOrder is either being paranoid or jealous. I did see Pesky Eyeball, and have to state the obvious:
good animation and music don't always make for a good flash movie.

As for the clocks, the worst clock movie is still 100x better than garbage like the zelda rap or another anti-Osama movie! Shit, at least if they make a crappy flash movie, they have the decency to keep it UNDER ONE MEG, instead of making me wait for 20-30 minutes to be disappointed, because some genius thought they could get better votes if they jacked up the size of the file! And at least they're not going for cheap videogame parodies that have been done to death, (HAHA Mega Man and Zero are gay! Mario's fucking the princess! GENIUS!)just because there are people who like videogames enough to vote 5 on a flash movie that makes any reference to them! And finally, the Clocks occasionally attempt to come up with their own jokes, unlike the uninspired fucks who burn Monty Python sketches and songs, and figure that the jokes will make up for their lack of effort put into the animation!

Yes, but have you watched that Josh Bedn movie? I didn't really find it that funny the first time around.
but the author has held the #1 spot on the daily top 5 3 times out of the last 4 days. Could people REALLY love that joke that much? Jesus.. if that's the case next time I see someone like one of my movies I'll pimp the shit out of it like he's doing.
