D00d. Was going to buy some as a gift for you but it wanted me to go through the card address bollocks... if it'd have been a paypal page I totally would have which makes me think - maybe you should change this to a simple "gift NG TP" page? Sometimes people are inclined to random acts of kindness.

There were some very good submissions today which is typical... seems to happen that way every time I submit something!

Anyway, I was blown away by Rage 3. Good work indeed.

I can understand your bitterness that your personal favorite didn't win, however it's much easier to get your opinions across if you actually form sentences, I'm not even exactly sure what you're trying to say.

Hiya, just thought I'd wade in and say thanks for the support. Unluckily for us there was a strong field yesterday, Magic pen was very inventive indeed, xenon was nicely done too and whilst I haven't had much of a chance to play Tainted Kingdom it looked very sophisticated too...

So... no... not gay or dump... if anything unlucky! Personally I'm really grateful for the chance to showcase our work, all the reviews and stuff.

Thnaks NG! We will return and perhaps one day we we will win!

Cheers

I Don't know how aware of this but in the tiny part of the world we like to call the UK there is an election on... sooo... you guys said a few times that I should do something non-commercial, so I've done it!

Ladies and Gents I give you: The Kung Fu Statesmen! http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view.php?id=232719

I really hope you like it, and if you do please vote nicely it would be great if we could get a decent score for once ;o)

Anyway hope you enjoy it and I look forward to hearing your comments.

Cheers

;o) Yeah hopefully it isn't bad! I thought it was worth bringing up since a few people said that they had a problem with it in the reviews and I was genuinely interested to see why it had illiceted such strong responses if only from a few people. If I can understand that then maybe I can avoid the problem in future?

That's a bloody good question.., and I know many that would agree with you, personally I don't find it a problem, to give you some background I did a degree in fine art. Much of the time I found it a massive struggle to find things to make work about, I find it much easier when someone comes to me with a problem that I can solve and I think I can do it in a creative and rewarding way...

When you come to NG you get bombarded with ads. You don't have to put 'em in your movies. You wont make enough money from it for it to be worth it.

Erm well it's true that I'm not a millionaire but I do pay myself and my staff a fair wage... we don't starve.

I Agree... most adverts suck... which is why we try and make ours not suck... although we may fail at this, you tell me?

Anyway- people prefer to see companies have the piss ripped out of them than promoted.

Hmmmm... well, is this always the case? what about if your favorite band has a new album out... should they not promote that? I guess my take on it is to try and provide content that people actually like, content that I, quite simply, would be too busy stacking shelves at Tescos (think Kmart) to produce otherwise...

Okay... I kinda see your point but there's plenty of really professional work in here, take Tom's work for example? I also think that whether a movie is good or bad is about more than polish... there are lots of movies in here that could be described as being less proffesional but I would still give them good scores because there's a nice twist to them or they've achived something remarkable...

I think we can all aspire to achieve more and more. I can assure you that I learn just as much by looking at other people's work in here as we all do.

Advertising in portal submissions.. Posted December 7th, 2004 in General

Hi There, I recently posted a submission to the Flash Portal which was a little game that my (small, 3 people) company produced for and electronics company.

Whilst many people seemed to enjoy the game (I hope) a few people were a bit "put out" by the content of the game and felt that submission that contain advertising were innappropriate for the NG portal.

Now, I'm genuinely interested in what people think about this. My point of view is this:

We do this for a living and, whilst we try to make sure that the sponsorship element of the product isn't too intrusive, if we fail to do that and people genuinely don't like the result they are, of course, free to blam it.

I guess my quiestion is, just because a movie is sponsored or contains some kind of commercial message, does that make it less valid as enterainment or an example of good flash???

Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts... if you're interested the movie is here: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/205701
