That is a very interesting looking instrument. May I ask what it is called?

Also, your artwork is very cool. I like how you went step-by-step with the princess, and showed us the underwork for your skeleton. I don't know about anyone else here, but I learned a lot. :) Thanks!

Give the dress more definition. add some wrinkles, texture, something. It is just a bland, nondescript blob.

As for your art, its coming along okay, but, as QB said, the japanese family-pic-thing is clashing style-wise.

Actually, a new art thread that sprouted up recently will help you realize your mistakes.
You are going for a painted look, okay. But it has no underlying structure, which is why it looks so terrible.
The thread, which I mentioned earlier, is this one.
The picture with the skeleton painted and also in grayscale pen is the one which I am talking about. He is making amazing art, and its painted. But he is painting over his structure made of pen.
What you are doing is building a house without any blueprints.
He planned his building out. And it looks awesome.
See what I'm getting at?

Maybe I shouldn't have wasted my time.

Fine. You will laugh though >.< (and it was drawn last June. You think I improved?!?)
You can also look at the first page of my old art thread
For comparison, you could check out my new art thread.

A. What would you classify your style of art?

Err. Idk. I asked around. Apparently it is "Psuedo-anime"

B. What/Who are your biggest inspirations?

Actually, I don't have any big, fancy people as my inspirations. Basically, they are people around newgrounds and little things that I notice in life. An emotion, a song, a topic in the news. Its kinda random.

C. What seems to be your biggest struggle in art?

Getting better, developing my own style.

D. What is Your favorite thing to draw?

People. And hands. I think hands are very fun.

E. What is your least favorite thing to draw?

Realism, landscapes, and animals. I need to do mory life studies, but I don't have the time to. I don't take art class in school, and my afternoons are too busy to join a class, if there are any, in my area.
Backgorunds are very time consuming, and I never think they come out right. I feel like I did all of that work for a very disappointing resuolt. As for animals, I just find them more difficult to draw then humans.

F. How long have you been doing art?

I've been doodling as long as I can remember (and I'm not saying they were good.) I had a short burst of artistic inspiration last year, but I have been drawing seriously since March of this year.

G. What got you into art?

I can't really say. Maybe one day I looked at the doodles in my notebook and said "hey, these aren't half bad" or maybe I noticed that in elementart school I could color inside the lines better than my friends (Actually, I was terrible at that.) As much as you guys may hate to hear it, it might've been the fanart that I drew which gave me my first push into art.

H. What mood/place do you make art the best in?

Right on my bed, like I do everyday (I draw on my laptop). I am comfortable and there are no distractions (except for my procrastination). As for the mood, I like to not be stressed (which is hard), but calm and patient. I hate when I'm mad or rushed and try to draw. I feel like snapping my (very expensive) tablet in two.

I. Has your style changed completely since then? If yes, what was it before?

Well, before it was straight on, sucky anime. I think I have moved on since then, although I still think I have a lot of anime influence (unfortunately, I guess)

J. What do you wish to change about your art?

Well, the obvious thing is to get better. I would like to develop my own stlye, which luckily I have years to shape and refine. After seeing some of the crazy awesome artists around here, I would like to, specifically improve crosshatching and backgrounds. Maybe I should broaden my subjects also.

I need to see you stream one day Ry.
And, while streaming, you will be playing your entire playlist for me to hear ;)

As for realism, I would say more contrast. Ask yourself:
What is the material of the jacket? Soft and comfy or strong and crisp? It will affect the number of wrinkles and the shadows.
What material is the gask mask? Plastic or metal? Really sharp transitions. Nylon or the like, stretched tight over a mold? Smooth, like you would clothing.
As for the gun, that is metal (I HOPE its metal... :P). So it should have the same distinct contrast.
I would also say to look at a ref for hands, or use your own. I know Posemaniacs has an entire section dedicated to it. Maybe you will find something useful. Of course, Google has always been our trusty ally :)

I hope I get to work on this all day tomorrow. I don't get much time to myself anymore lately.

The leg closest to us, as Kuoke said, is kind of the low point of the piece. The kneepad, based on the first WIP (and the underlying anatomy shown there) makes said kneepad look kind of lopsided. Also, the tightness of the kneepad makes the leg look really thin. Then again, my character's legs have always been hidden by pants, so who am I to argue?
Also, I feel guilty that I haven't even started yet and already you and 50 have finished my lineart!
