Lucid Dreaming Posted March 27th, 2012 in General

So recently I've gotten pretty interested in lucid dreaming and all that jazz, I'm not usually a spiritual person but the ability to control your dreams like you're the god of a world sounds pretty appealing to me.

What are Lucid Dreams? To sum it up they're basically dreams where you are aware that you're dreaming, because of this you can alter things at will...inception style.

So I was wondering, anyone here experiment with lucid dreams? If so, what were your experiences? What'd you do when you realized you were dreaming, how long did the dream last etc.

Response to: Uploading Flash videos to youtube Posted March 24th, 2012 in Animation

The real problem now is that AVI's export fine and fit the screen of youtube...however AVI's don't play movie clips...so that's dumb

MOV's at the same screen size and whatnot, do play movie clips, but don't fit the screen, or atleast it didn't whenever I tested it out.

I don't know maybe i'm doing something wrong but it seems like flash really hates video formats, maybe I'll just try the PNG sequence thing.

Better than my first animation.

My advice is to look up as many tutorials as you can (i suggest sticking to ones based on fbf animation rather than animating with symbols and movie clips but it's your call). As a beginner you have to just be a sponge and absorb all the information you can. There's some good tuts on here as well, so you shouldn't be short of learning opportunities.

Now go out there and make us proud.

Response to: Uploading Flash videos to youtube Posted March 22nd, 2012 in Animation

No sorry if it wasn't clear, but I meant upload it straight from flash as in just export it as a different format from the program, i.e not having to put it in another video editor or something.

But is that all? Just have a 16:9 screen resolution? Like I said I tried different sizes for the screen, and it was always skinny with black bars on the side.

Also, last time I remember exporting as AVI it didn't export the movie clips, as in it showed the symbol moving across the screen for example but it wasn't showing the actual animation in the movie clip.

Thanks for the help so far though guys.

Uploading Flash videos to youtube Posted March 21st, 2012 in Animation

I'm sure this has been asked many times before but after googling, youtubing and searching the ng forums a bit I couldn't find the answer I was looking for, so let's just make this as quick and painless as possible.

I am not asking about swf to avi software and all that stuff, I'd like to know about the process of uploading videos straight from flash.

Every time I export a flash as a .mov, no matter how big the stage is, when it is uploaded to youtube there are always black bars on the side. What kind of settings need to be changed to change the screen size?

I know about the strategy of exporting the flash as a png sequence and then importing them into video editors and uploading the flash like that, but I want to know if there is a way around that, like I said, straight from flash. Are there just some settings I can mess around with to get a nicely fitted screen size or do I HAVE to export them as png and whatnot if I want to upload to youtube.

Thanks.

Apparently if you have a family history of unstable minds you can literatly go insane from shit like acid.

You'll lose touch with reality, and not be able to distinguish what is a trip and what isn't, and probably end up doing some crazy shit.

So i'd say stay away from it, or atleast do some research I guess.

I would love to know if you would like to make a menu and preloader.

I think it's best if we just keep it as a battle but with a short "reason why they battle" in front of it. As long as it's short.
It's not about the storyline but about the creative ways you guys can show the watcher how to make an awesome fight.

Like I said before, maybe we could just have a quick backstory along with the character info on the scene selection page? For example "x is fighting y because when x was young, y killed his father" or some shit, personally I think it adds more depth to a collab, people like when there's lore.

But I don't know, that's just me.

Also just for the record...never animate a character with box shaped object on his back...ug.

Also also, here are some sound effect websites if anyone needs them. Some good stuff here, all free.

Hey, that looks really good! I like the background on the selection menu too. I wish i could do that xD
I'm not sure if the animation should contain all the fights in one scene or just have a fight selection menu. We'll have to confer on that.

That's pretty much what we've been doing for the last few pages lol. Also, I agree with Sacros, once all the parts are done we need someone to do an intro that introduces the concept of the tournament. Then after the intro it should go to heavyrain's scene selector.

Hell Yeah, that looks awesome.

It'd be cool if when you roll over it with your mouse, a little bio of the character and who made it popped up in the corner or something.

For example, rolling over my character would say something like:

" *Name* ((i don't have a name yet))
Created by Lpfann2

____ is a humanoid robot powered by a large generator on his back, it supplies him with electricity which he uses in combat blah blah blah"

Obviously that's just an example, but yeah. That'd be coooool.

Also, sorry Kei, but i'm gonna have to postpone it to tommorow, i'll try to get it done by the afternoon or so. I got most of the animation done, I just wanna go to sleep now haha.

This collab is REALLY starting to come together, awesome work everyone.

Response to: The Animation Battle (collab) Posted March 15th, 2012 in Collaboration

No yeah I definitely agree with sacros, however I've come to make mine not have a storyline, but just a still part before they fight where it somewhat introduces the characters. And really I think that's all it needs.

And yeah I'll fight KidKei, all I have right now is a rough so I can easily change zovies' character to kei's.

yhea, thats something we should think trhough

we cant have the viewer suddenly in the middle of an epileptic movement tornado so any fight scene would start at least with the opponents staring, right? the problem here is all our parts will be played together as a single movie in which case if we have an introduction to every fight it may get annoying...

then again, NOT having an introduction before every fight, even with the parts mashed up all togetherwill still look awkward. This is a problem that must be adressed...on the short run we can start with our moves and add the "introduction" later if needed, thats what our team is doing

ill share my ideas on this problem later since this post is already a textwall

Hmmm, good points.

Maybe to avoid this kind of thing it could just not play as one big long movie, but instead just have a scene selection page with all the parts.

And Kei, yeah I think you can join, though you need a partner first. (Don't take my word for it though, wait for OP)

Not that I view Ego as god, nor do I think that you don't have potential, I just think you should go into it not worrying about getting famous.

Looks good! If you want you can make the first move.

Look I don't know dude, I don't want to say this because it'll probably come off as condescending but I feel like our skill levels are pretty different...

I don't think i'm the best animator in the world, not by a longshot, but from what you've demonstrated, you don't seem to have the experience in animation to make a good enough part for this collab. It's just that the two people battling should have similar skill levels so that the battle isn't switching back and forth between two different animation levels.

I mean, it's all up to the collab leader whether or not you can stay in, I'm not trying to say you're out. But I think you should be paired up with someone a little more at your level, so sorry but, I don't think I want to battle you.

If there is anyone else without a partner I'll take them, I believe Monsieur-monsieur is free?
