Want to collaborate? Need vocals. Posted December 24th, 2012 in Audio

Hey all, I've been getting into music production more and more recently, and I think it'd be cool if a vocalist on here could lend me their talent for a song.

I should get this straight, I'm no professional. I'm probably not going to be selling this track on itunes, this is really just for fun. Hell, let's make this thread not about me, but instead about musicians and vocalists collaborating in general.

Here's my soundcloud.

I don't really have any specifications, you can write your own lyrics, it can be a rap, screaming, or whatever style you want.

So if you want to put your vocals out there for me or someone else to use, then go ahead and start posting. I'm surprised I haven't already seen a thread for vocalist-musician collaboration here.

I heard that if there's any actionscript in your fla the .mov won't work. Check for any, then see if it'll work then.

As for quality and whatnot, I suggest just waiting until NG releases their SWF to AVI converter.

I've got the rough done, now it's on to the actual animating.

Sorry it is original animation only.

Zovies are you out there?

Man what's happening, everyone was so active and now everyone's gone.

If you're working on a part or something could you please update? I think it'd be good for us to at least see that people haven't forgotten about this.

I've got another song that sounds good and yet I'm getting some sort of block on where to go with it again. If anyone could help me out with how to continue with this song, I'd really appreciate it.

It's got a nice epic feel, but what genre should I make it?

This stuff always happens to me...

I'm definitely maybe probably going to possibly submit something for this...eventually.

I just have to think of an idea first.

These are really great. My only critism would be for the rocket aim test; I feel like she moves too stiffly, she turns to the right and then brings the rocket launcher up in almost two seperate movments. I think it would look a bit better if it was all blended together as one movement. What I mean by this is have her turn and start to pull the rocket launcher up, then once she's fully turned have the rocket launcher keep going up and eventually forcefully brought down by the girl. This will give it a nice sense of weight if you know what I mean, it's a bit hard to explain.

Hey guys, I would reall appreciate some help as I have no idea where to go with this track. I don't know if it should keep it's relaxed mood or pick up the pace or what...

Hell I don't even know what genre to make it.

Alright, I've finished my part.

Here.

Sorry for taking so long, I kinda slowed down when I got past the initial animation as I'm trying to pay more attention to some other projects...no offense lol.

Anyway, I don't think we should really post an update here every 2 weeks or whatever because some people are probably lurking on this thread and will end up just seeing the entire collab by the time it's finished, you know what I mean? Maybe we should only show the updates to our partner and EastBeast since he's the leader.

On another note you may notice that the background is showing white a little bit, this is from some weird glitch in my v-cam. For some reason, even though it's focusing on a spot that shows no white, when it's exported it's moved over to the left a little. I don't know what's going on, has anyone ever had this problem before with their V-cam?

Response to: What is most important to you? Posted August 31st, 2012 in Animation

It very much depends on the kind of movie you're looking to make.

If it's a comedy > Writing and dialog. Stuff like that.
If it's an action > Animation quality, art and pacing
If it's a drama > Writing and art

Overall I personally like seeing great writing quality and great animation/art. Those are the most important aspects IMO.

It looks a little tiny bit static. (but its a pretty static shot so its hard to do)
Everything else looks really nice.

I agree, although it'd mean you would have to redo quite a bit, if you're looking to make this an intense shot I'd make her turn her side to the camera and her arm go back or something like that. Posing is everything when it comes to action sequences.

You can make it transition by just tweening it into size or just slide in from the sides. :3

Yeah I know, I'm just saying it might look a little bit weird with some backgrounds.

After a few, I got Voetsek. That's a great name for a dubstep producer!

It does mean "get lost" though...

Could be like "get lost in my music". Definitely an option, thanks! I used that thing for like 30 minutes and didn't really get anything I liked.

Coming up with a producer name? Posted August 19th, 2012 in Audio

I'd like to start uploading some songs to YouTube as I'm starting to dive much more into music producing lately, but I'm having trouble coming up with a name to use. I don't want to use Jurgen, because...well, I don't know, I just don't feel like that's a good name in terms of music.

So I'm looking for information. Tell me, how did you come up with your name/what does it mean to you? I'm really quite curious.

Response to: Motivation Posted August 19th, 2012 in Animation

I've come to realize projects are only hard to work on if you turn them into a tedious process rather than a carefree drawing session y'know?

This is moreso advice for the future, but try and stick to the projects that you find fun and relatively easy to animate rather than ones that are a huge workload requiring perfect linework and whatnot. Animation should be something you do for fun, not just a boring process that you feel inclined to do.

Your doing a great job taking over as the leader by the way and I don't mean to be rude in any way in my suggestions.
No that's a great concern, thanks for mentioning. I actually cut it off for newcomers awhile back, just someone in our original list is no longer available for battles. I'd like to scout an extra partner for that original member, but If we don't fill that spot, then it is fine, I agree, we have plenty of people :)

As far as deadlines, August 30th should be the time when everyone shows a sample of what they have so far! to at least show us that things are working out between your partner and you and you are in the right direction. It will also be a wake up call that the due date is just around the corner

I'd like to make theFINAL COMPLETION DATE hopefully mid- September, like the 20th? I think a month from now should be adequate time to start collecting complete battle parts from everyone.

If September 20th sounds like a good time, give me a Yay, if it sounds too soon for some people, say Nay and a write down what you think is a more convenient date, and we can discuss.

I can understand having to stretch out the deadline a bit for some, due to life reasons, but I don't think that this collab should have any reason to drag on into late October.

That's all, if anybody has any suggestions feel free to make them on the thread or by Pm, I am happy to take your ideas/ thoughts what have you!

(menus, music will come later)

Happy Battling!

D

September 20th seems good, but it may be a bit too soon for some. Keep in mind school is starting in the beginning of September so the pace might slow down. On the other hand, people will start submitting their halloween flashes for the contest in October, so the collab may get overshadowed by them in terms of getting the front page.

I have to say we're in a bit of a dilemma, but I guess that means that late September is really our only option unless we want to move the deadline all the way to November.

Nope, it's .04, I just tested it.

I just ended up using 112 and it worked out alright because I didn't use the whole track together. I split it up, however some of the parts I had to cut so that they started earlier or later and it was a little frustrating.

Anyway, thanks for your help guys. I actually finished the song last night after working on it pretty much all day, I still need to master it and polish it off a little but here is the WIP.

Response to: Remixing Bpm Trouble [fl Studio] Posted August 16th, 2012 in Audio

@Yoshi Yeah I tried that out but it still had the problem of only being in sync for a few times, plus I want the vocals to stay the same speed they are now, not speed them up. But thanks.

(And don't worry I wont, I know the rules)

@Buoy I have no idea what you mean :L What's a click track?

Remixing Bpm Trouble [fl Studio] Posted August 16th, 2012 in Audio

I'm getting quite frustrated.

I'm trying to remix Numb by Linkin Park and I'm having some trouble with finding out the correct BPM. I've googled it and used the tap function in FL and have gotten different results. Some say 112, some say 108 or 109 (I got 109 with the tap function).

The real problem is that whenever I play the song (vocals) with the metronome to try and keep time, it starts out in sync, but then quickly goes out of time. In fact it starts out in time for a few bars, but by the end of the song it's so out of sync that the metronome sounds like it's playing the offbeat.

The only way to keep this song constantly in time would be to slice it every time it goes out and move it to the next cell. But then that would obviously make it sound wrong.

Has anyone had this kind of problem when trying to find the BPM of a song before? I'm really confused as I'm pretty new to producing, and I don't know what to do.
