I think fighting your own battles is the key. It's nice that you want to help the guy out, but the only thing I think you should do in this circumstance is tell him to stand up for himself. Get him to fight back. The only time I would step in is if the guy keeps getting bullied even after he tries to fight back.
Happy Tuesday, everyone!

You can make a filter sweep, a screechy rise, an acoustic drum fill, a fall in the entire track's pitch, a quick cheesy wub noise, a volume swelling string, or a sub drop to name a few. That's what I commonly hear in right before dubstep drops that aren't samples.
This is the short list of free plugins that I sent to Lethal-Input a few days ago. I've used them all before and find them to be the best that you can get for free.
Synth1 (probably the best free synth out there)
Firebird 2
Proteus VX
TAL U-No-62
daHornet
Some FX plugins:
dbGlitch
CamelCrusher (distortion)
TDR Feeback Compressor 2
Magnus Jonsson Ambience (reverb)
CMT Bitcrusher (every freakin artist and their mother uses this)

At what point do you have to be intelligent enough to be credible in determining what good music is?

Holy smokes, I finally finished this! I really hope you guys like it.

I think the way it works is that you are supposed to review someone's audio ABOVE YOU in the thread and then ask for yours. Switi, you too.

Which ones are the best that you know of? Are there better free ones than these in your opinion?
I've tried Noisemaker and Alpha Plus and can attest that they are both wonderful plugins considering that they're free. The best free vst, however, would have to be Synth1, in my humble opinion. Still use it from time to time. Sent you a pm.
Welcome to the mentality of the artist, where complacency breeds mediocrity and expectations are never met. Whenever someone says that their work isn't good enough to see publication, I have to ask them what they are basing their standards on. If they are using another band or artist for reference, then of course they will never be content with their work. It's a very unhealthy approach to model someone else's principles. It would be like comparing fingerprints.
Also, never forget to always be coming from the "glass is half-full" perspective. If it's not up to your requirements, then that means you can do better, right?

Hi, Callubsta. You don't have to create a new topic to advertise your audio work. There is already an audio advertisement thread that can be found here: http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/253861/874
Cheers!
I'm not going to pretend to understand half of what you said, but I suppose it's nice to offer a helping hand! To me, though, writer's block isn't something where you have to seek out another musician's input to get the ball rolling again. It's preferable that you overcome it yourself through inspiration instead of direct assistance.

I believe Deadmau5 used a lowpassed saw wave and just added a little bit of distortion to it.

Don't worry. You can still be a child at heart.
Yes, I watched it. Question: do women really earn 77 cents to every man's dollar? Obama mentioned this in his speech, and I've heard this claim before, but I'm not sure if I really believe it. The way it was worded made it sound like if a man and a woman work at the same job under the same conditions, the woman would earn 77% of what the man would make. I thought this was more like an overall annual average thing? I'm very confused.
You can try to PM an admin, but I think you're better off just making a new account.
You want to look into a program that allows you to control the pitch as well as the formant of the vocals. The human voice produces certain EQ peaks in the frequency spectrum. These peaks usually stay around in the same spot, even when someone is singing in different pitches. The reason you get the "chipmunk sound" is because the program you're using transposes both the pitch and formant to frequencies similar to a small child, which gives you the effect you described.
There are several programs that allow you to work with the formant of a sample. I would recommend Melodyne.

Keep in mind that it helps to have the vocal sample as dry as possible (no reverb, delay, etc.)

If you can't share it over the phone, then it probably isn't worth hearing about it.

My ex would use Q-tips, and one day my printer wouldn't work. Took it in for a fix since it was fairly new, and they found a dirty Q-tip. Gross... Apparently she dropped one in the feed.
Q-tips definitely do more harm than good especially when it comes to printing out important docs.
Yep, I don't see any bad reason for not using Q-tips? They're the best tool to clean your ears without hurting them.
While you can be cleaning out some wax from your ears, you can also be pushing some further back into your ear. Packing earwax closer to the drum can cause hearing problems and sometimes even tinnitus-like effects. Also, your ear drums are closer than you think, and they are very easy to rupture. I wouldn't take any chances.
Olive oil is great for cleaning out ears and treating infections. However, noise damage is, for the most part, irreversible. Ear care usually focuses on prevention rather than treatment. There are some supplements out there, but I wouldn't put my money on them.
Also, never EVER use Q-tips to clean your ears. It does more harm than good.

I think you mean effects? The mixer settings are separate from the channel settings. There should be a drop-down arrow at the top-left corner. Go to File>Save mixer track state as...

FM8 without a doubt. Massive and Z3TA+2 are awesome as well, but I absolutely need FM8 if I'm going to do anything EDM-related.
