Response to: question about mixing and all that Posted April 13th, 2006 in Audio

Send it to me as an uncompressed .wav file. It will sound like ass as an mp3.

How long will it be? If it's fairly short, save it as 24-bit.
Have hotmail? send it to me on there: Jonh2o@hotmail.com...or just email it.

are they REselling (pun intended) products after they rip the cd key or somthing?

I wouldn't doubt that the majority does.Be aware that mostly what you're paying for is the License number. Propellerheads offers Reason as an "Upgrade Pack" for owners who already have a license from a previous version purchased. Make sure that it says somewhere in the description that a license is included. Otherwise you will not be able to install the software.

Another note is that, if it's used, the seller has probably already registered the license number, stopping you from being able to download future updates and free refills from propellerheads' site.

At 1/21/06 12:46 AM, lexus3 wrote: how can you set the preferences in reason to align the notes you hit on your midi controller so they land exactly on the beat

Yeah, I know how. It's called latency.
In the preferences, goto audio and up it a bit.

You can also quantize notes. If you have the "quantize notes during record" button selected then the notes you play will be automatically set on beat I circled it in black (fathest left). the "quantize notes" button farther right is used to do the same thing with selected notes.

Remember, the quantize notes during record is affected by the latency of your keyboard. So, if you find the notes on the piano roll being quantized too early (or too late), it is either because you are playing off beat or your latency configuration needs to be fine tuned a little bit more.

Hope that helps. =)

Blah.

Yeah...about that. Reason 3.0.4 patch 3.0.4 fixed it. I can finally start working on some of my later songs.

"Fixes in Reason 3.0.4
These are the issues that were fixed in the 3.0.4 update:

Export as audio file
There was an issue in Reason 3.0.3 (on Windows) that could cause weird sounds when exporting a song or loop to an audio file. This was most likely to appear when using certain Scream settings. This happened only when exporting audio as everything sounded fine when listening to Reason directly or running Reason in a ReWire host. This has now been fixed."

If anyone's bored, read this post if you missed it that got banned. I can't stop laughing..

It started out with some dude creating an account just to post a link to paragons music, and continued with him reffered to the audio advertisements and calling everyone rude for pointing it out...XGM, jarrydn,a nd B0UNC3 knows what I'm talking about, haha.

Anyways..if you're bored as fuck..it's entertaining. Don't forget to look at his profile picture.

That's lame the audio battle thread got deleted. Nobody had a problem when Erkie started "Battle of The Audio Portal" a while back. Is there a difference, or did the Mods just, not see it or something?

Beats the hell out of me. I'd suggest if anyone wants to do that again, post an ad in here and maybe the audio advertisements or something and host the thread in general...I don't see why they'd be pissed about it in there. *shrugs*

I found a bug in Reason 3 (3.0.3 does not fix it either).
I use NN-XT device for vocals in my songs, and sometimes Dr. Rex. I don't know if it's because they're 24 bit samples or what, but either device, if I run it through a few effect devices the Wav Export is always fucked up with absolute SHIT. Only when that audio sample is played.
'I don't really know exactly what it is. I've managed to target the problem in a couple of my songs. I had to bypass devices. I'm nearly certain that it has nothing to do with my CPU (although I know little about that stuff, so hell if I know).
I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem with Mixdown fuck ups. It plays fine in the program itself.

Blah.

Only i tried creating a spider mixer and it sounded quieter when i tried putting the same synth through it, at the same volume :S

Spider mixer? Are you talking about the "Line Mixer"?

If you spent a minute to just get information:

"The focus on musicianship in metal is much more marked than in other forms of rock, and there is a great emphasis on speed and 'heaviness'." Read all about it.

What type of rock music are you reffering to? About Rock music

You can't RECORD sound into the programs, but you can import sounds that have been previously recorded.

And which program has the best bang-for-the-buck?
