I really loved Druken Masters though, it totally is a sharp and first class game. It was one of the few games I've spent hours playing... Coaly and BoM agree so we've decided to pass the Top 5 prize over to it!

!?!?!?!

Seriously?

That's really generous of you, I don't even know what to say. There were A LOT of really great games this month, and all of them really deserved their awards. I really, really appreciate this, guys!

Shit- I'm still in shock that Drunken Masters scored as high as it did. Don't get me wrong, the game developers do this because we love to create as much as anyone else does, but we're also in it for the paycheck. I think the movie authors- the ones that do it strictly to create and entertain, without getting anything out of it other than the pride of seeing their work sitting on the Front Page- should be the ones getting the weekly awards, collab or not.

But thanks for the consideration!

FUCK. My game's almost ready, but I need more dialog for the characters. It's really easy- the game's set in a bar. Customers come in and order drinks, and you make them. I just need lines for the customers to say in between drinks, I'm too busy animating and scripting. Anyone interested in taking a shot? I'll e-mail you the details.

Topic: I just can't have sex

Posted: 08/20/07 05:21 PM

Forum: General

I always think that she might call me a freak and reject me or that she might judge me by how I'm doing it. I fear that I might be good enough.

HHAHAHAHAHHAHA! The first time I had sex, it was in the dirt behind an electric box. I don't care if you're hitting it like a champ, that's a horrible situation. I'd say a good percentage of the sex that's had on any given day is between two(or more) people that are staggering drunk, and that's never any good either. If you keep worrying about making it perfect, you are gonna die a virgin. What you need to do is just watch a couple porn flicks, take some notes, and give it your best shot. And if she calls you a freak, tell her that she just doesn't have enough experience to know what sex is supposed to be like. And if she says that she does have experience, call her a slut. All your bases are covered. Now you can move forward with the most important step- finding someone that will have sex with you.

Yes guys, I am a virgin and my shyness might actually make me a virgin for life. I never had a girlfriend, I never spoke to the girl that I like and I feel like I might get rejected.

Sadly enough, a lot girls your age will actually go out with you for stupid reasons. If you break them down, you can easily come up with something that you can use to your advantage:
The top things teenage girls are looking for?
1. Respect. Nooooo, not respect for them. If you're looking for a long term relationship, you're gonna need to master that at some point, but if you're just looking to get some ass, it's a relatively low priority right now. If a girl sees that other guys respect you, and that you demand respect from them, they're basically all yours. It's a hard thing to teach, but a good rule of thumb is to talk to your friends like you're in charge when there are girls around. That's why Captain America gets all the chicks and Bucky just keeps getting shit on. And if someone tries to give you attitude in front of a girl, make them feel like an idiot. Or sock them in the face- at this point, you need to be more worried about getting ass than getting in trouble. And if you get beat up, say that you got sucker-punched or kicked in the nuts or something like that. It works like a charm.
2. Popularity. It doesn't matter that you have a lot of friends, just that a lot of people know who you are and either talk about you in front of girls or say hi to you while you're talking to girls. Especially other girls. Especially other good looking girls. In high school, it's as easy as talking to everyone you meet. A great go-to conversation piece: making fun of your teachers. Just don't start up conversations about World of Warcraft or some stupid shit like that. That's gonna set you back. And if you try to talk to someone and they're not friendly, again, make them feel like an idiot. This is an important tool, especially if you're shy. If you know that you can make someone feel like a total asshole for saying the wrong thing to you, you feel better about talking to just about anyone. It's all about building rapport.
3. Good looks. It's not something you can really work on, but making sure you're keeping yourself well-bathed and well-groomed is a step in the right direction. And as you can see, it's not the biggest priority.

As for actually getting laid, the easiest way EVER is to hit on girls at a party. I think just about 80% of the girls I've ever hooked up with, I've met at a party. That may be because when I'm drunk, I'm more likely to be looking for ass, but it also has to do with the atmosphere. Especially in high school.
If you see a girl that you like, you've just got to talk to her- but your window's pretty narrow. If you stand a couple feet away staring at her while she's talking to someone else, you're just gonna look like a creep. Find something fun to do, and then make her feel like she somehow got in the way, but that it's ok, your name's whatever, nice to meet her, maybe you'll talk to her later, but right now you got to get back to whatever awesome shit you were doing. At her age, she's probably used to getting hit on by older guys. It'll be intriguing to see a guy her age that's got better things to do than hit on her, but that's still got the balls to say hi. Later on, accidentally bump into her again, and you're set. Even if it's a few days or weeks later. I think the longest I ever played that game with a girl before we actually hooked up was like six months, but I really wasn't trying to get with her, she really was just in the way.

Finally- you're only 16. I know a guy that didn't lose his virginity till he was 20. We gave him a lot of shit for it, sure, but it happened for him eventually. What you need to do is just focus on having a good time (away from the computer) and keeping your shit together. If you can do that, the girls will come.

And We Are Legend isn't in the top ten, but it's on the front page and it's sitting nicely as the first runner up. Where is Drums of War? (And do you want to know why I don't think it should have been in the top twenty?)
I don't know what that first part is suppose to prove, that's not evidence of anything. Where do you get the information from? There's nothing cited no way to prove that it exist outside of the fact that you wrote it. I never said anything about it being in the top ten, even if it was I wouldn't care. I've already said that I don't care that my game or any other games weren't in the top ten. Armor Games chose what they chose, no one can give a reason for why what won and what didn't except Armor Games. Y ou can probably list a million reason why you think you should have won top prize and so does any one else who made a game, but it's not our contest it's Armor Games. They can give the money to whoever they want.
There are thousands of flash movies and games with that same stupid explosion, I don't care that you stole it. It's a small gripe about a decent game on a goofy website, no reason to get so defensive about your stupid game. There's gonna be people who hate your games and love mine, and vice versa. There's no proof that you made a better game or anything weird like that, it's not an exact science. I believe mine should be in the collection but if it's not there's nothing I can do about it. It's not my website, it's Newgrounds they can do whatever they want they don't owe anyone anything.

And you complain that everyone was downvoting your game, maybe it's just not that good. I gave it a decent score but nothing that was mind blowing or anything. Everything on here is a stupid flash game made for the internet. Everyone's making fun of the Overture game and saying it doesn't deserve to win, and that the whole contest was bullshit. The contest had some rules and I believe that some rules were crossed. It's not bullshit it's just different than what was stated. Your game is basically a Guitar Hero rip off and so is mine along with a slew of many others, no one is exactly breaking new ground here. Armor Games wanted to do something nice for the people here on Newgrounds, you bitched about your low score and why your game was so awesome and it got you on the frontpage and even some money, good for you. More power to you, keep making games and making money. My only point, a very small one, was that you used material that was not yours. That's a true statement, you can't disclaim that. It's not a big deal, but it's the truth. Armor Games had no problem with it at all. Quit trying to argue that the explosion is something you own. It's not, you didn't make it, regardless of how much other "original" material was made for the game the explosion is not yours. You took it from a popular game to try and make yours look better. Who cares? The top ten games used all original artwork. Why do you deserve anything different?

I never said that I did or didn't deserve anything different than what I got, which was and is completely acceptable. The language I used is from the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works , an internationally recognized copyright exemption treaty (Citation, just for you). Not trying to get too crazy on you, but my roommate's studying copyright law post-grad, and I wanted to get his input before the game went up, much less before I responded to your post.
1812 Overture's a good internet game. It's targeted to the lowest common denominator, and goddammit, that's good marketing. My game was an attempt to take the genre further than it had been before- something that I am confident succeeded, and the votes are still coming in to support that. You can call it a guitar hero rip-off all you want, but it is more refined than yours, and more time was put into it than yours.
I'm not pissed off because you pointed out that my game used copyrighted material (which it clearly did, whether that use was legal or not), and I'm DEFINITELY not pissed off that I didn't win- the publicity is worth more than the prize ever could be- I'm pissed off that you decided to take a shot at my game in the first place. I can afford to put more time into it- this is my occupation. I'm a professional Flash developer. So what? You want to bitch that you didn't make the collection? You should have broken down and played politics like the rest of us. You think we enjoy the bullshit?

If you have a problem with the sprites, it's fine. They look GOOD in We Are Legend. They would have looked tacky Drums of War. Why? Because We Are Legend looked like a finished game. It's not anybody's fault, but that's the bottom line.

This ain't a big gripe but that Arockalaps game We Are Legend uses sprites from a game he didn't make, this doesn't infringe on copyrights? Who owns the rights to sprites? I got nothing against that game but it crosses one of the rules provided. I think it sucks that we can't update anything because the size requiremnets have changed. It hurts the games and movies for this change.
Those are the only sprites in the game, and they aren't your's. It's not that big of a deal, people steal sprites all the time. That explosion from Metal Slug gets used a lot. I don't know where you get that information from that they're under the fair use policy, I still don't think they are and again it's not that big of a deal. You used something you didn't make, it's not that big of a deal. That's just one of the reasons I don't think you should have been in the top ten, and you're not.

The use of the SNK sprites:
1. Doesn't conflict with a normal exploitation of the work (i.e. other commercial arcade/platform games) 2. Does not unreasonably prejudice the legitimate interests of the rights holder (ie does not significantly impede the right of the copyright holder to sell the copyrighted material).

Copyright law is by no means static, but considering the fact that SNK is going through their own legal issues right now and the general rules of the road state that such sparing and unrelated use of copyrighted material in the creation of a completely separate work are generally accepted as legal. So fuck it, everyone should keep on using the Metal Slug explosion, especially if they're too busy generating other original content to spend time animating flames.

And We Are Legend isn't in the top ten, but it's on the front page and it's sitting nicely as the first runner up. Where is Drums of War? (And do you want to know why I don't think it should have been in the top twenty?)
