Hello everyone!

Response to: Launch Imminent Posted February 5th, 2012 in NG News

Man feels like this is a long time coming! Looking forward to seeing what you guys have come up with, be nice to have a wider layout and hopefully you've got some kinda notification system in place that tells you when comments have been replied to etc? It can be hard keeping track of whos blog posts ive commented on, something like the flash reviews with replies tab on userpages would be great for comments made.

I realise its kinda late to be suggesting things though, good luck with the launch!

Great that he is supporting stuff like this though!

And massive props to I-smel, its awesome to see this happening when 6 months ago you were stuck in that job and didnt know wtf you wanted!

I feel for you!

If I ever lose work from Flash crashing I just force myself to start again, but the 2nd time around I make sure the end results are even better than the first. It gives me satisfaction to improve the second time around, and means that flash crashing and losing work only improves your project in the long run!

Response to: Flash Can't Open .fla File Help Posted April 10th, 2011 in Game Development

Looks like youve got a corrupt .fla file :( Not sure if theres much you can do about restoring the file completely, but if you have a .swf of the file you might be able to get some work back using a decompiler - I use Sothink swf decompiler.

It's horrible when stuff like this happens but I've learnt to deal with it after years of putting up with Flashes crap. If you have a Mac, Time Machine can be a godsend in this situation!

Response to: How do I collaborate? Posted January 28th, 2011 in Game Development

Usually when working with a programmer, once the core idea is determined, I start off with the key assets. Get the player done, maybe an enemy and the Game Interface or something. You know, the important stuff that are integral to the game.

Once you have the key assets and style of the artwork down you can move onto designing the rest of the enemies and gameplay assets. I usually do the time consuming assets like level backgrounds/cutscenes etc at the end of a project, so the programmer has everything he needs to build the actual game while you get on with youre time consuming stuff.

Hope thats helpful!

I think its time I finally got myself a work desktop. Buy an iMac now or wait and see what apple have in store for the next model? The rumored hi def screen sounds pretty shiny....

Smooth as silk for my Macbook Pro too. I've found it's usually alpha fades which macs dont like.

Nah i just have shit loads on, I put zomgies 2 on hold to do sushi cat 2 in november, now im working to finish a quick elephant game so I can finish sushi cat, so I can then finish zomgies 2 and finally make PENGUINZ 2 :@

Its good though, busy times! As usual I'll just have a bunch of stuff released around the same time.

Oh btw did you guys see the Armor Elephant mugs? :3

Response to: iPhone/iPod - should/could I? Posted January 2nd, 2011 in Game Development

If your'e looking to make money, I wouldnt bother. The App Store is already saturated as hell and the vast majority of games go on to sell 10's of copys. Unless you grab Apples attention or have a LOT of promotion, it seems like a massive waste of time to me. Plus, the Flash export is so limiting that youre gonna be hard pressed to make anything worth playing, let alone paying for!

Response to: Winds of Change Posted December 10th, 2010 in NG News

I actually find this is quite sad news! I totally understand the move but I've enjoyed many music videos here on Newgrounds, Dare and many great collabs spring to mind. It just seems a shame to see them actively discouraged!

Totally off topic but, damn i love that film! Robin Williams is a gem.

Also, Corporation Inc. did 2 million plays on Armor Games in under 2 weeks! I can't even imagine what the worldwide plays are, although its not on NG/kong yet. Its gotta be a new record for me though, i'm stoked!!

Response to: Best of October 2010 Posted November 8th, 2010 in NG News

I prefer the left one but it kind of looks funny with black outlines around the eyes. Personally I would use the skin colour outline for the eyes. Also try to keep a consistent contrast between the line and fill colours - the hat and skin lines look pretty light in comparison to the body and legs, which makes him look a bit unbalanced.

3D in Flash? Kinda looks too good to be true! I guess I need to learn some 3D modeling... http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flash /molehill/
