Topic: Any minimal?

Posted: 11/16/07 02:15 PM

Forum: Audio

Alright guys, I'm working on a minimal track at the moment and was wondering if anyone had submitted any or worked on any music of the same genre. I could use some advice and some examples to be honest.

No problems if you haven't.... just wait for this threat to sink to the dark depths of the audio forum.

I suggest you read the sticky threads at the beginning of the forum. Check out the threads at the top labeled something like "new to audio" or something. You should get all the answers you need.

Depends on what sort of desert style your going for. If you want that really hot baron style, i'd use shakers with plenty of delay and reverb with some arabian vocals and some dry sounding strings. It's all about onomatopoeia with instruments.

YOUR SHIT IS NOT THAT GOOD.

YOU DONT PUT ANY TIME INTO YOUR SUBMISSIONS.

No one is going to steal it and even if they did, you could make it again in less than a minute. Please, please please, just relax man.

I think thats a bit unfair man. Shadow's obviously proud of his music and worried about it being stolen. I have heard his music and agree that it is unlikely to be stolen, but stop putting him down man. Why not give him a little encouragement rather than just slating him.

And to the original message, you'll probably find that as all of the submissions on this site are dated it is easy to prove that your version was the original as anything stolen would obviously be used after this date. I wouldn't worry too much though, it's unlikely that someone would want to steal many of the newgrounds audio. There are much more professional sounding artists out there which make a bigger target.

I'm afraid I haven't got anything that would go particularly well for checkers, although I'm liking Rigs 'Standardize'. That seems like a good option to me.

Give writing your own beats a go. It's easy to use prewritten samples, but writing your own is much more rewarding.

If it's trancy with a little bit of drum and bass, you'll probably find it fits well under the game music category. But it's hard to tell without hearing it.

I just wanted to submit a piece that i'd recorded with the school's recording system but i'm unsure if i should.

Hmmm, i'm not entirely sure but i think aslong as nothings been sampled you'll be alright...

Something from here might work, too.

Nice collection RigAudio. I'd imagine any of these would work fine. I'm afriad to say I haven't really got anything that would be of use to you, but Rig's stuff seems perfect.

Forum: Audio

I think that this is a good idea. I know that the music submitted in newgrounds isn't to professional standard, but then if it was, it wouldn't be on newgrounds. If anything i see this thread as a way to pass reviews on to each other. I know my music is pretty shitty, but I love the fact that people review it and try and criticise it to help me improve. I don't just 5 people for the sake of it, I give it a fair rating and then review. This place is all about improvement, and where better to do it.

I by no means see this thread as an advertisement, but more of an opportunity to help each other improve. By all means tell me if you disagree, but a review means more to me than a 5 rating.

On some of them I dont have the title to the artist and I was just gonna say like: "All music from newgrounds.com's audio portal."

Would that be credit enough?

If you want to be really polite, put a link to their music page after the video as well as their name.

Ok, so I've basically used a midi file i found on the internet and put most of the instruments as a piano sound. It's technically a remix and not sampled so I can't be done for plagerism so just let me know if thats what you want and i'll post it to you or something.

It's not particularly great as I did it in about 30 seconds. But it's yours if you want it.

I suggest you get yourself a copy of fruity loops or Reason or any other good program for creating digital music and get started for real.

I see what your saying and don't like it when people submit music from such programs but i don't think its against the rules. I'm pretty sure your legally allowed to sample 4 bars of any song before it becomes copy right. Sampling can also be used extremely creatively, so i'm not against sampling, although those prewritten loop sample programs do aggrovate me.

As far as i know i think i made a pretty good deal, i told him that the beats are non exclusive so i can let others use the beat aswell and he agreed.

Good or bad deal?
What should i be charging?

Thanks alot
Greeksta

Sounds alright to me, as long as you've still got the rights to them. Depends on how long the beats are aswell. I think legally you are allowed to copy 4 bars of music before it legally becomes copyright. So if the beat was under 4 bars, he could have nicked them for free. I could be wrong though. Anyway... congrats on some extra money.

All depends on what you are looking for. If you looking for sound FX (I know you've probably tried already) but just google for sound FX. Also when it comes to looking for music it helps to have an idea of what your looking for. This will probably be a certain genre so try searching for music in the genre section.

Oh and remember to ask permission before using someones work. Even if it's not specifically the rules, it's just polite.

Hope this helps.
