ANYWAY, we use the M16 now because it is 5.56, the NATO standard, wheras an AK-47 is 7.62.

Also, you said the M16s have poor "muzzle power" which I'm guessing is retard for muzzle velocity. The fact is, the M16 has a projectile the size of a .22 and with that much powder backing it and with the FMJ (full metal jacket), the bullet FLIES. That is the real problem, the 5.56 goes SO fast that it goes right through the target and they can keep going, a 7.62 has more stopping power but drops because the bullet is so heavy.

Moving on, where do you plan to buy these AKs? The current heavy suppliers are Communist (China/Russia) and so you would be supporting a Communist market which would deal a huge blow to our government's image.

I hate the M16 personally, but it's reliable and it makes sense for our purposes (The A1 was the one that was infamous for jamming, which hasn't been used for a few DECADES).

And of course my last little outburst, the fact is, whoever is elected we CANNOT win the Iraq war. The only solution would be colonization which is never going to happen, would you like to move into a dangerous country smack dab in the middle of the Arab world? We have no hard-set goal and eventually we are going to just have to suck it up and leave.
