Because everyone loves lists, here's my personal favorites of E3:

Rock Band/ Guitar Hero: World Tour - I'm digging World Tour's song creator and its subtle additions to the "hitting circles in time" formula so I'l probaby pick that up for the whole set. Still, Harmonix has really stepped up their song selection from RB1, both in terms of quality and quantity. 84 on disc songs 20 free dlc songs and the fact that I can probably borrow the RB1 disc from a friends to get all of those is an incredible deal.

Prince of Persia - It looks like more of the same gameplay that kept me hooked during last generation's PoP trilogy, but I'm really digging the style change from gritty action to fantastic story book. It also looks like they've nailed the "no death" formula so that it's approachable yet you're not going to waltz through it without developing a strategy.

Mega Man 9 - How can anyone with a soul hate on old school Mega Man?

Resident Evil 5 - Call it cautious optimism, I like the RE4 formula, but this looks like another step away from horror and towards action. Plus, the story still sounds shitty, which doesn't work without the b-horror backdrop. I'm sure it'll be tons of fun even if it's not quite what I want it to be.

Fallout 3 - Maybe it's not everything that purists want it to be, but I personally think the Oblivionishness will play well with the Fallout world. Plus, 100+ hours of post-apocalyptic awesome is pretty awesome.

His utter uselessness is what makes him so great. One of my favorite things to do in Brawl was run around the map ringing his bell while everyone else chased my two-dimensional ass down trying to shut me up. Plus standing off to the side and raining down flaming bacon on eveyone else while they're tangles in a rumble is always great. Sometimes it's not just about kicking everyone's ass.

It's a neat app, and despite the simplicity I can see there being some enjoyment to be had with it. It's just that it's possibly the worst thing that Nintendo ould have possibly shown to cap their E3 conference with. But hey, the teams that make Zelda and Mario are working on new games. That's a big announcement, right?

Checked out the Too Human demo, it's not terrible and it has some interesting ideas but I wasn't really digging it. The combat feels a little one-dimensional, almost button massing for idiots. Too lazy to jam on X? Just hold the stick towards an enemy. There's some nuance, but I can see it getting old. They've also really lost me by adopting the utterly idiotic no death philosophy which I don't get. Where's the drive to level up when you can just die and immediately go back to a boss that's obviously tougher than you? Where's the drive to take advantage of a game's strategic elements. The only punishment is that you generally spawn away from the battle and have to run back to it and it appears that there are some spots where you miss out on loot by dying. Couldn't get a good feel for the storyline. I hope the demo isn't the start of the game because I had no clue what the fuck was going on or who was who and what their purpose was.

Also tried Tales of Verperia and was similarly unimpressed. Although I've never been a Tales fan so I wasn't expecting to be blown away.

After X? That makes one official Final Fantasy game (unless you want to count the MMO FFXI in with the rest) that you've found sub-par. Couldn't hurt to have a little more faith in the series than that.

Honestly, you don't say, "Hey, you guys like God of War, right? Well here's the first trailer," before showing it. You just let it roll and when the camera pans onto Kratos standing triumphantly over crumbling ruins the audience realizes what's just been announce and they go wild.

All three conferences were at least a little on the boring side. Microsoft's was decent for the first half hour even though all the games shown were well known and not all exclusives. They then went to announce a bunch of casual games and updates that were pretty much just reaction to shit that Sony and Nintendo were already doing. The ability to take a party into different dashboard functions and games is pretty cool though. I just wish they had more up their sleeves than FFXIII, it's a major announcement, but they could have used a new AAA exclusive or two.

Nintendo's was almost entirely casual oriented, but honestly Miyamoto could have casually walked onto the stage, hands outstretched, gripping the Wiimote and, pausing momentarily midstage to turn to the audience to say, "New game. Wii Mow Lawn," before walking off and ending the conference, and the Wii would still sell like it was filled with shiny gold dubloons.

Sony's conference was probably the best even though it ran a little long and was poorly paced. They showed the most games and honestly, that's all I was looking for. They took some of the holy shit moments out of the few big announcements at the end, but still they did the best job of making their console look like it's going to have more exclusives and just more games in general.

Let us know why we need to buy this new device. Telling us about one game isn't a very good selling point. For all we know the majority of games won't even take advantage of this device.

I'm always wary of optional devices like that and how heavily devlopers will adopt them, but I actually think this will catch on. The Wii fanbase seems to love mini game compilations, especially when they come packed with a doo-dad. I'm sure huge number of people will probably buy Wii-sports Resort.

I'm a little upset with the DS coverage, GTA on the DS could have been the biggest announcement of the conference, but they glossed over it in favor of talking about airport, cooking, and baseball stadium apps. I was hoping to at least get a roll of footage that showed the games that are coming out within the next year.

Anyway, most people are calling Square Enix the "Judas of video gaming". I can see why. As soon as its announced for the 360 they also announce that it wont be on 360 in the Far East proving how trustworthy and loyal they are.

It's not anything against Sony or PS3 owners, there's just a large market for them to reach on the 360. Put yourself into their shoes. You're spending years of time and tens of millions of dollars making Final Fantasy XIII and you want to get the biggest possible return on your investment. Would you make your fans who own a PS3 feel all warm and cuddly becuase the game is exclusive to them or do you make it available to the widest audience possible?

As for the 360 in Japan? I guess there's just no profit in releasing it for the twelve people there who own the system.

Songs that immediately grab me as awesome although you never know, sometimes songs you really wanted turn out bland and sometimes songs you would have never though of playing are fantastinc. In any case it's a huge jump over the limp soundtrack of the first Rock Band. I've always hesitated to buy it because, even though I could technically buy DLC to make it the kind of game I want to play, I don't want to dump another forty bucks right after the initial purchase.

There's also the ability to import Most of the RB1 songs.

I wonder what the limitations are on that. Can I just borrow a friend's disc and import them or have they figured out a way to limit it to one disc? If so I'm definetly getting at least the disc (if they don't make some major improvements to the seriously terrible peripherals).

Whoo, won my first online match of Civ Revolution, an economic victory with the Spanish. I got very lucky too, one of the people I was against was well on his way to a technological victory and was in the lead in all categories except economy when he lost his connection and dropped out. I guess they don't set the AI for online matches very high because it did a piss poor job of handling the advantage. Fortunately when I got to 20k I wasn't hit very hard. Only the two AI-controlled nations realized what was going on and limpy attacked me, completely ignoring the city that I was building the world bank in.

Also, a big thumbs down for a complete lack of online-centric achievements. After a four and a half hour marathon I think I deserve something to commemorate my efforts.
