A good idea, however I think it would have to restrict OP editing to adding to the post, as opposed to changing things that have already been written. This would solve a lot of potential issues with troll threads and the likes, while still making updates significantly easier to access in threads with rules or important information.

I like this idea. However, instead of entirely preventing them from creating the thread, perhaps it could simply inform them that a similar thread may already exist. Obviously people can search on their own to confirm that, but we're too lazy for that.

As for an edit/delete option, I personally prefer things as they are. It establishes permanency in whatever we say, which forces us to choose our words and posts much more carefully. If there were to be an option to edit or delete what you post, I think it would be best to place restraints on it, such as an inability to correct or delete your post once someone else has replied to the thread. Just a thought.

He's not referring to Newgrounds. Newgrounds basically allows you to do anything but post things anonymously, and decreases your voting power.

Some websites (forums in particular) mandate that you create an account to do anything on the website. Sometimes you can't even view threads on their forums unless you've created an account, which is a massive pain in the ass when you're just looking for an answer to one question.

As noble as it is to be a fireman, or military personnel, etc., it's all about marketability. People will pay significant amounts of money to watch professional athletes, so pay they do. That money then goes to fund the athletes, consequently encouraging the creme of the corn to fill these positions.

I hate to say it, but it doesn't take any remarkable skills to become a fireman. Only a percentage of people are ineligible (myself included for a number of reasons), and it is a necessary job in every town and city throughout the nation.

If people will pay you significant amounts to do what you do, then that's the amount you will receive for doing it. It's really as simple as that.

Libertarian =/= Conservative.
Tea Party = Conservative.

Libertarians generally believe in limited government control in specified areas.
A liberal libertarian believes the government should not regulate morality when that perceived morality does not directly affect anyone other than the individual.
A conservative libertarian believes the government should not regulate business (nor guns, haha), because free market is essentially what this country is founded and built upon.

As for South Park having a stupid fan base: Everything has a stupid fan base. I have yet to come across a fan base that does not have its fair share of silly willies. Personally, I enjoy South Park. The social commentary, along with their dedication to making fun of everything and everyone - especially the things that most pertain to themselves, appeals to me. It's a great form of comedy, in my opinion, and typically surprisingly well informed.

But hey, it's not for everyone. I understand why people may hate it, and that's fine. I just like the show.

Happiness does not have to sap your creativity. As a musician, you are driven by more than pain or loneliness, you're driven by emotion at its core. Your first step is to explore other options. Tap into whatever you feel, and make it tangible through your music. It doesn't have to be sad. It's actually better to have more dynamic than that.

And shit, things will go wrong here and there. You'll have pain to draw from.
Don't let the pursuit of a certain sound dictate important choices like that.
Instead, let the passion flow through you regardless of how it manifests itself.

Though, I guess if you're willing to dump her to make some melancholic tunes, you're probably not all that into her to begin with.

It's some complicated stew, I tells ya.

I partially take that back. Identical twins tend to identify with similar sexual orientation and identity, so it's obviously genetic. However, a slight change or mutation in the developmental process seems to be enough to make that change.

I don't really see why finding a gay trans man or woman would be confusing. Sexual identity and orientation are quite different. :P

I totally agree. But the coexistence of atypical gender identity and atypical sexual orientation is reason enough for a double-take, primarily because we're still so behind on identifying the specific causes of each. There are masculine mtf transgenders who also have a strong attraction to women, and that confuses people. It rules out hormonal differences in the womb.

You know that you don't have to be gay or bi or have any other sexual preference in order to be an advocate for LGBT, right? You can support it, all while saying you are straight.

Of course, I'm about as straight as they come. But a transgender female is female, and my attraction to them should not be affected by that fact. Yet, it is. I don't want it to be. I really don't want it to be. But I'm struggling to overcome that obstacle. Something about gender ambiguity messes with my head.

'Vegetarians eat animal products like eggs and dairy but they don't eat animals while vegans cut out animal products altogether' is the actual real difference between vegans and vegetarians. It has nothing to do with how much they force their beliefs on others.

I think it's just a matter of connotation and stereotypes. Vegans more often consider their choices to be a moral lifestyle decision, and feel that it's important to "evangelize" in order to convert people to their cause.
Vegetarians, on the other hand, are more inclined to view their choices as personal matters. Conversion isn't really in the job description.

Personally, I feel like it's all about where an individual draws their lines. Most humans don't eat humans, because they're the same as us. Most of those humans also won't eat animals with a personality (dogs, primates, dolphins, cats, etc), because they're a lot like us. Some of those humans won't eat any animals, because they're living beings just like us. Some of those humans won't purchase byproducts of those animals, because they're people just like us.

But, let's go a little further: Plants have been shown to feel pain; to cry out when harmed. Everything that provides adequate sustenance is living. It's only a matter of what your conscience can handle.

So, personally? I don't eat animals with personality. That's where I draw my line. It's not necessarily right nor wrong, it's just where I draw my line.

Admittedly, the BBS hasn't usually been a treading ground for me, but that's mostly because I'm not a particularly social person.

Diagnosis
Transsexualism appears in the two major diagnostic manuals used by mental health professionals worldwide, the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM, currently in its fifth edition) and the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD, currently in its tenth edition). The ICD-10 incorporates transsexualism, dual role transvestism and gender identity disorder of childhood into its gender identity disorder category, and defines transsexualism as "[a] desire to live and be accepted as a member of the opposite sex, usually accompanied by a sense of discomfort with, or inappropriateness of, one's anatomic sex, and a wish to have surgery and hormonal treatment to make one's body as congruent as possible with one's preferred sex."[4] The DSM does not distinguish between gender identity disorder and transsexualism, and defines transvestic fetishism as a separate phenomenon which may co-occur with transsexualism. The DSM diagnosis requires four components:[5]

A desire or insistence that one is of the opposite biological sex (that is not due to a perceived advantage of being the other sex)
Evidence of persistent discomfort with, and perceived inappropriateness of the individual's biological sex
The individual is not intersex (although a diagnosis of GID Not Otherwise Specified is available, which enables intersex
people who reject their sex-assignment to access transsexual treatments)
Evidence of clinically significant distress or impairment in work or social life.

"A wish to have surgery and hormonal treatment to make one's body as congruent as possible with one's preferred sex." That's what I said!
By the way, to be intersexual is to have both male and female characteristics. Kind of like a "hermaphrodite," except that a hermaphrodite is fully male and fully female simultaneously. And... also mythical.

Nobody is going to judge you for saying no. Everyone can sympathize with the mixed emotions that come with a question like that, because they transcend even our non-traditional views on sexuality. It's an entirely new dynamic, and it can be uncomfortable for a lot of people.

That said, I personally think it's important that we acknowledge that not everybody is born in the right body. Regardless of whether you are personally attracted to someone who is affected by that circumstance, I do think it's their right as people to be accepted for who they are.

I'm just looking for legitimate answers, whether yea or nay, or somewhere in between.

I get overwhelmed with empathy, then realize I'm pretty broke, then feel bad for being selfish and give them a buck or two.

Once I bought a guy dinner, because we talked for a couple of minutes and he was a great dude. So, we grabbed a bite. Nothing expensive, obviously - I rarely eat out as it is - but it felt really nice.
Never saw him again, though.

Oh, I'm also more inclined to offer something to someone with a sense of humor. Someone who, despite the shit hand they've got, makes the best of what he's got. I'm a sucker for a funny sign.
