Aw man, that stinks. Hopefully next time we can get a little mix of judges. That's a lot of pressure on one guy!
Everyone sees something differently, and it's easy to give a score no one else would.
But I trust you to do a good job, and I'm excited to see how the results turn out!
Fingers crossed for top four. Haha
Zach Hadel, Austin Breed, and All-American-Badass are the ones I know of for sure. I'm in northeastern Kansas.

Also... chewing gum. Who does that anymore?! Psh!
Are the other judges moving along as quickly?
More importantly, did you manage to gain other judges?
Nah, I don't really feeeeel like it.

Comedy is a craft. Content =/= quality.
If your delivery, timing, and overall presence is shit, the stand up is worthless.
Cedric the Entertainer could talk about being black for 5 hours and it would be 10x better than any comedian who talks about "everything."
Which, btw? No comedian does. Everyone has a shtick.
Would you stop turning every single thread you reply to into some sort of pride competition?
The point is to have friendly discussion, and I've yet to see a post from you that doesn't insult someone.
And honestly, I really don't enjoy Cedric the Entertainer all that much. He's not bad, but he doesn't really reel me in.
If I'm talking more contemporary black stand up comedians (non-civil rights era), I'd probably go with:
Eddie Murphy
Chris Rock
Dave Chappelle
and Bill Cosby, if only due to his influence.
Now, here's where you're getting me wrong. I don't have a problem with relating being black to your stand up routine. In fact, it can be hilarious. But you have to be smart about it, and it can't be the only thing you have the capacity to do.
All of these guys can be funny in a completely unrelated element, but use it as a niche. However, a niche is not a crutch. The jokes still have a wide variety, and only relate to their race afterward - as the shtick!
And that's comedy.
So no, I'm not saying I don't like black comedians. I'm just saying that you can't rely on being black to be funny.
At 5/3/13 09:10 PM, ChloBro wrote: To who?
Little sheltered white boys who can't relate?
I don't give a shit about that demographic. And neither does anyone who takes comedy seriously.
"Takes comedy seriously" lol.
It's just not that funny. To me, it's the same thing over and over again, hoping it won't belabor itself. But it does, every time.
A comedy act has to keep me on my toes, and frankly it has to make me laugh. If you can't hit more than one topic, you're not doing your job.
At 5/3/13 02:04 AM, ChloBro wrote: I would say thinking that race/gender dictates who is and isn't good at comedy is a bigger problem than any I have.
All he was referring to was the Carlos Mencia and George Lopez syndrome.
Including your race can be plenty funny, but just talking about it the entire time gets old.
I don't think the comment was at all racist. Granted, not all of my favorite comedians are white.
I disagree that the black ones are the best, though. My top three are (as they are now):
Louis C.K.
Gabriel Iglesias
and probably George Carlin, though he can piss me off from time to time.
I'll admit that it's true - a lot of my favorites are white. But that's because so many of the comedians are white. I can't even begin to count the number of famous Jewish stand-up comedians in the past 20 years alone.
But please, don't take everything and make it out to be racist and ignorant. That's beyond silly.

Invest a little, save a lot, but the first thing I'd actually buy?
That's difficult. Probably a house. But I might wait awhile for that. Get a little return first, maybe use the money to invest in my voice acting (lol) or something like that. Hire an animator to put up with my shitty writing so I can put some stuff out for once.
Judy Gold, Maria Bamford, Joan Rivers...
Oh, Phyllis Diller.

How about you step back for one second and realize that a toddler is dead because a five year old was allowed a gun.
Do I think guns should be taken from everyone?
No.
But if you're not of a certain age, and haven't been properly psychologically evaluated, there's no way in hell you should be given a deadly weapon. Least of all one that causes death by accident.
Excuse me if I'm ignorant for being a little upset that a five year old was given the tool to accidentally kill his little sister.
Dude, Kansas is messed up.
In the time I've lived here, the weather has never made sense. Ever.
I'd like reviews too, of course, but wouldn't we all?
I'm trying to review some submissions as I go. I've only reviewed a few, though.
Luckily, I usually see the same mixing issues, so that's not hard to fix.
Both, really.
The level system gives a little motivation to vote, but I'll never vote just for the sake of points. I vote with a purpose.
Though, as you can probably tell by my level, I don't always meet the quota. So I suppose the points are my biggest motivator.
I usually vote in flurries. Suddenly I'll vote on a ton of things - maybe for days in a row. Then I'll only vote on 2 or 3 things a day.
My B/P points aren't as bad, but still not amazing.

At my school, the students that aren't retarded or in honors classes are largely ignored and are given shit teachers and, in general, are taught less rigorously and learn less as a result.
Most schools have the opposite problem, due to the No Child Left Behind mentality.
I'm special ed, due to ADHD, OCD, high functioning Autism, and a gifted IQ.
Without significant challenges when I was younger, I never developed a work ethic. I could breeze through everything, while others had to do homework.
So now, even though I have a work ethic when it comes to projects, or things I find productive - doing homework is nearly impossible! I'm not saying this isn't my problem, but it could have been avoided with a proper upbringing by the educational system.
Furthermore, I've never felt like I was doing enough. The school was originally going to advance me in mathematics, which would have placed me in Calculus by my sophomore year. But for some reason, the rules waived this idea entirely - putting me two years behind where I would have been.
In my experience (been to several schools) the system caters to the lower end, and the normal end. Once you accelerate beyond that, however, the resources dwindle to virtually nothing.
Contrary to popular belief, significantly high IQs are incredibly subject to issues later on in life, due to lack of challenge in school.
The average annual income for IQs 140 and up is about the same as the average annual income for IQs 70 and below.
It's bad.
I've never tried Windows 8, but so far Windows 7 has been amazing.
Surprisingly, despite the sleek design and new window effects, it is the fastest OS I've used so far.
Vista was sort of like a beta, in my opinion. Incredibly buggy, but on the right track.
For those advocating the Mac: You're right. There are times at which Apple has the optimal computer and/or operating system. However, for my personal needs, I find Windows to be far more suitable.
Of course, my grandfather has a little more money, so I set up a dual system for him, with which he can boot either OS - though the technology is primarily PC, since Apple is very bad about ensuring no one can stand to profit but their own company. So hardware is difficult to interchange.

What's going on with that guy's ring finger?
To me, calling someone a retard is like calling them a faggot.
If - for some odd reason - I'm in a room with two dudes, and one is giving the other a blowjob, I'm like, "Okay, they're gay. No big deal." But then the giver suddenly frees his mouth and starts being a little prick, and then he's a faggot.
I don't even associate Faggot with Gay.
In the same way, I'm not going to think of a kid with a mental deficiency as "retarded." Instead, I think of him as someone with a learning disability. Special Ed. Whatever.
But to Ritard is to slow down, thus to be Retarded is to be slowed down. So if a guy is being retarded, I'll be damned if I can't call him retarded!
It's all relative. If their mental output is significantly below their potential, they're being retarded.
That's how it clicks in my mind, anyway. Hope you can follow.
I'd been noticing some suspiciously low ratings on the submissions, and just saw mine plummet from a 0.
My friends, I believe there is a saboteur in our midst.
Even if it won't affect our scores, it hurts :(

This is good to me.
Honestly, kids are going to have sex whether we provide these things or not. That much has been proven.
So why not make sure that kids don't have kids?
On a side note, this could be useful for underage rape victims as well. It can be difficult to tell anyone for a long time, but now that the morning after pill would be readily available, they could take care of it discreetly and safely.
I dunno, I just don't see the big deal here.
At 4/30/13 09:03 PM, Chongo wrote: When will reviews and shizz be released?
Any time before May 14th, depending on the judges.
At first I thought this was about molestation.
Turns out it's racist.
Ultimately, I think I preferred the former.
I'll obviously do my best to teach my children to reserve themselves a bit sexually, so as not to lose the ability to remain with one partner. And of course try to keep them celibate until they're old enough to make the decision themselves.
But once they're old enough to do what they want? It's up to them. Gay, straight, transexual or transgender, what makes them happy is what I want.

Honestly, it's not just Newgrounds. Forums in general are taking a pretty hard hit these days, as far as I'm aware.
I've been lurking the BBS since '04ish (I was the strong silent type), and I've noticed the changes.
BUT, I prefer it as it is now, as compared to the traffic from a year or two ago. The little ones flocked to us, and you'd be hard pressed to find a civilized (Newgrounds version) conversation.
Plus, I feel like we're getting a much higher ratio of artists and musicians and other more tangible contributors. Traffic is still much lower than it was in '07 for sure, but the influx of talent has been beyond impressive.
Happy birthday, Tommy Bear!
I'll be thinking about you while I sleep.
I have absolutely no time to write and act out a proper piece, so I threw together this piece of work (lol) in around 15 minutes.
It is not good.
Regardless, here you are!
Literally the worst thing I've ever done, ever.
: I'm going to regret this so much.
Oh snap!
I just saw this. I'm going to get working on a piece as soon as I get home from a banquet. Hopefully I can actually piece something together that doesn't totally suck. And even if it does, this will be fun!
Good luck to you all. :]
