One way to do that is to click the little "smooth lines" button on the toolbar. You can also use the Optimize Curves option in the menu. (Below) These things will help keep things running more smoothly in the end.
Can't wait to see how it turns out!

I myself have made some progress and hopefully will post a short example soon.
There's still a lot of time, I don't think extending the date is needed at this point. Weeks are still left to finish. Now's a good time to get working, though! :)

It's a wav file, though. Not MP3.

I might want to do something, but Im not sure I will be able to finish it before deathline
Anyone can join in up until the deadline, so see what you can come up with! :)
No ideas, huh? Sigh...

He's made this same exacttopic twice before, and each time someone has said the exact same thing as you did. It's futile.
I got Flash about 6 years ago, and I don't think I've come a particularly long way with it. I use it for the basics of animation, and continue to use it for the same purpose every day. I'm not really too interested in scripting, so I haven't really learned it outside of the basics needed for my animations.
I have gotten more efficient in using it for my simple means, and better at the animation aspect in general.
Quick question:
I imported a sound file (wav) into Flash CS3 and it plays at twice the speed it should for some reason. In any other audio player it plays normally. What is going on, and how do I correct it?
Thanks!
Dude, you just made this SAME THREAD earlier.
I wondered where my reply went, but then I saw it was a whole new thread.
New mini-update from mine:
Here's the main background for my animation. I think it turned out okay. I purposefully ignored perspective, in case anyone thought that was off. I wanted to make it more graphic in nature.
It's very dangerous to post that you are a scriptwriter and not use proper punctuation and spelling in the few words you post for everyone to see. I'd suggest next time put more effort into your post and people won't automatically assume you're not a good writer. I wouldn't want to read an entire script with misspellings and improper grammar.
Good luck with your writing.
Yeah, having the puzzle pieces in the background is a good idea. Be careful about moving them around TOO quickly, though, because remember than people need to read whatever is on the screen and that sort of thing can be distracting. You'd be better off having them move slowly. It will still convey the same idea, but make less people dizzy with too much going on. There will be plenty of time for speed in the actual game.
Ha ha, that is AWESOME farfenwaffle! Totally, totally awesome. Love it. The face after the explosion is priceless. I can't wait to see what's next for the little guy. (Hope it works out in the end, I already feel sorry for him.)
One thing I noticed, the ring's outline shakes a bit when the shine is moving on the close up. Dunno if that's on purpose, but it was a little distracting.
A lesson we have all, at some point, learned all to painfully. Save like crazy all the time...
:(
Sorry.

I gave a shot at the August 09 one. It was really bad. If I can find my old file I'll post it up here.
The August winner was probably the best of any I watched on the site. Absolutely unbelievable. I watched it like 30 times.
I've tried my hand at 3D animation and I just don't know, it isn't for me I think. Something about it just seems so technical, where as with 2D you don't have the same boundaries, you know? Plus I like how 2D looks more, for the most part. Pixar, perhaps, excluded. :)

im sorry for kinda hijacking this thread, but could you briefly explain how you did the last walking animation on the video? Ive always wanted to try pencil animation like that, but i never found out how.
I didn't do the art here but have done a lot of pencil tests. What do you mean by "how"? You basically draw the character on a piece of paper and then put another on top and draw the next part of the movement. And so on and so forth. Then you string them all one after another and it looks like movement. Or did you mean how in some other way?
The character looks cool, nice job. As far as a character sheet, the image has too many fluctuations in size and shape to really be a traditional character model sheet (they are supposed to be very, very consistent), but it does provide some nice drawings of different expressions. Can't wait to see some more.

Sure, anyone can enter, and right up until the deadline. Just get working and make it awesome so people vote for it at the end. The top rated ones will secure a spot in the final presentation, and if it's anything like the other Shades Collabs, the best runner ups will probably make it in as Easter Eggs. How many depends on how many people enter and finish (sometimes people have to drop out after procrastinating too long- which has happened to me before, I admit it).
And post what you're doing so people can comment along the way!

Good luck mate! Last time I tried to finish one on time, it ended up being half done and 10 times worse than the rest, :P. My acting looked like an epileptic nightmare.
Well my goal for this one is going to be "Place in the top 50%" and if I don't then that will remain my goal for the December one! I just hope it goes okay since so many are 3D and I'll be doing sweet ol' 2D.
Do you still have the one you did? I'd love to see it, just for kicks. What month/year were you doing?
Yeah, I plan to try. Though after watching some of the awesome things they have for October, I think this will be more for my own practice than any hope of winning. :)
I'll work at it though! Maybe set a goal to one day get first place in one of these. Could be fun.
I hear you about the time thing, though. Work takes up most, then the Shades of Orange collab gets the rest, so I think I'll be fitting in a November entry for 11 Seconds sometime between 2AM and 5AM, lol.
My brain hurts. I joined the 11 Second Animation Club and just voted on over 200 entries for October. So many were so similar that I can hardly think straight right now...
On the plus side, I got a lot of great practice in telling good animation from bad.
AS3 is a LOT better in the long run, but I hate it like crazy. I don't enjoy programming at all, and AS3 is much more "programming" than AS2 ever was.
Sigh... But I must get with the times and move forward.
One day.
Come on, people! It's about boobs! This gives you a chance to draw them without feeling like a dirty old man sitting alone in your office...
:)

Dooooooo it! :)
Well I finished the character model in Flash. All done with fills, not a line to be found. It took longer, but I like the style it brings to the table. Animating it will take longer as well, but I'm hoping it works out in the end. That's what stuff like this is for, experimenting, right? At least I'll learn something as I go!
Sounds like Flash is broken. Reinstall from the disc and if that doesn't solve it (it should) then contact Adobe for help. They're very good about supporting their products.

Prismatica II demo
It was fun, though it seems to start out rather slow. As for the instructions, there's too many words! I don't mean that in a bad way, but you're going to get a lot of people skipping them just because of that. Instead of saying "Don't click these, they reduce your points" or whatever, you could just say "No click! These bad!" and most of the people who check Newgrounds will be more likely to read them. Keep it simple.
Also I had more fun when there were two stars on the screen at a time, so I'd have that happen more often. It ran fine on a Macbook but I can see where the effects could slow down many older computers.

Wow, really cool. I wish I could do stuff in that quick style like you have there... I guess I just don't have the eye for it yet. Anyway, good job, I can't wait to see what's next.
There's been a lot of really good samples shown so far. Now I want to work even harder on mine...
Seriously PBass, you get my vote for most awesome helpful person on these boards. Nice! I was going to try to alter the original character as well, but man, I don't think it would even compare to yours there. :)
Okay. Well I still say practicing is a good thing to do regardless. Some (most... ALL) of my earliest animations and cartoons were absolutely terrible. TERRIBLE. Years later, without those terrible starting points I wouldn't be where I am today.
It really is worth it, even if you end up working with someone else as well.
You can't start collabs on Newgrounds without having first submitted several well-received animations or games by yourself. It's in the Terms of Service.
