If you submitted an entry but your name is not above, please PM/email/reply here ASAP! Thanks.
It looks like most of the old emails went through, and most people didn't re-send them to the new address. So I think I should have the ones previously sent, and if anyone is tweaking anything to send to the new address then finish up by today otherwise I'm going to start putting things together. I'm going to put everything into one file to see what the swf would look like, because we're right on the borderline of voting vs. not voting. If they'll fit, we're golden. If not, there will be a vote. It will be close.
What the biscuit?
Now suddenly I'm getting all those emails people told me they sent, but in random order and seemingly they just pop up sometimes when they FEEL like it. Something is clearly screwed up. The best bet is still to send them to the new email address- SendtoJKR@gmail.com -but I may be able to get the ones sent to me via the other email as well. Sigh, this is confusing.
*****Important Notice! *****
Because of email related issues, please send all files instead to:
PLEASE RESEND SUBMISSIONS (or links to submissions) to the new address if you already sent them. Some did not go through!
Also because of this problem, the date for submitting is pushed back to December 12th, so people have time to learn about these changes. Thank you, and apologies for the confusion.

Wow, that's enormous! Yeah, try getting rid of things you didn't use still in the library, that might help. And compressing. Also you can zip the file before uploading it.
I'm going to spend the day trying to fight with my email client to make sure people's emails are getting through. For some reason they don't seem to be, and I think it may be because the storage space is artificially full or something. Anyway, I'll keep people posted, but if you get your email bounced back "undeliverable" or something then just hang on and check back here.
Also keep checking back here so I can update everyone on whose parts I received.

That was terrific. Amazing job! (Adding the cat's head bounce really worked well, I'm glad you did it!) I can't think of anything to mess with at this point, really. Just go ahead and send over the FLA file when you're finished tweaking anything you still want to. It goes to DM@fredthemonkey.com don't forget.
Alright, so as of right now (Morning of December 9th) I have the final files from:
JKR (myself, duh)
Bogoblin
MisterPharaohMan (but check your email, because you need to resend it to me with all broken fonts!)
Obviously a lot more people have completed or nearly completed theirs, so send me the FLA file! You have until tonight, though I'll be getting things together for a vote so technically if midnight goes by you still have until I put the vote up. Technically. But really, try to get it to me ASAP. It's deadline day! :)
At 12/7/09 05:27 PM, MisterPharaohMan wrote: I'm almost done! I don't think it should be a problem being on time. We have until midnight on the 9th right? Just in case?
Yes, but don't wait until the last minute! :)
I'm finishing up mine today, and tomorrow I'll make a list of all the people who have turned theirs in so far so that there's confirmation that I got your files. Still time! Keep working!

The people who have made a part will vote on the other parts they like the best, then whomever's parts got the most votes will make it in, or I think maybe all parts get in but only the best are co-authored, JKR will verify how it will work.
I don't really expect to get my flash in but why not try?
So the deadline is December 9th? Can I still send my flash or is it to late?
You got it. We'll see how many entries end up being completed (lots of people have said they're in, but if history in other Shades collabs are any indication, some people won't finish in time). If there are enough spots (file size room) for everyone, there won't need to be a vote. If there are a lot of entries, we'll do the traditional voting and see from there.
Only a few more days, but still time! Now is the exciting part. I've got a lot of work to do before everyone starts sending me all their files!

Nice job! I want to see it with all the sound in place now. I can't think of much else to improve, really, aside from adding the sound in. Unless you wanted to add more, because it could be neat to have it pan out showing the whole tower at the end with the bell ringing in the distance. A good way to close.

Trying to get it done without rushing myself, but twitter and facebook keeping calling my name. @_@
That's turning out awesome! Really cool stuff. I can't wait to see how it ends. I laughed at the cat, the look on its face is hilarious, and having the phone bounce off his head was great. Actually maybe his head could bounce a bit more when the phone steps on him? Seems like it would add some life to the poor little creature. He looks more like a statue now.
Great job, that's really good. I don't know why, but I feel a connection to the little phone character. I want to see more of him now. :)

What AS version?
What is the deadline for our finished work when signed up?
You don't have to officially "sign up" here. All that is required is that you make the deadline with your entry, which isDecember 9th, 2009.
AS should be 3.0, because I'm putting everything together in Flash CS3. Any other questions, just ask and someone will answer! :)
Thanks guys, glad you like it. Don't worry, there will be sound added later. The guy will probably grunt with each step (indicating difficulty moving) and the clock will be ticking as well. I'd love to add music, but I don't know if it would fit with everything else. I can always add it at the end if it seems to work I suppose.
Now to get back to it to try and get closer to being done before the 9th...
Yeah, that's happened to me. Either I'm just having a blue day or my interests changing finally caught up with me. I hardly ever play console single player games anymore, it just isn't fun for me like it used to be. Generally I find something even better to occupy my time, though, so it works out. I'm enjoying getting back into animation instead of wasting hour after hour on some game I don't even really think is all that great. It feels much more productive.
In the "real world" there's no way that would be a T (or PG-13). No way at all. But on Newgrounds you'd probably get away with it. So it's up to you.

Added a little hat-trick in there too. Hope that adds to the unexpectedness.
Nice! That's looking like the best version yet. Great job. I don't know what else to suggest, it's pretty spot on.

Just want to make sure I have everything done right, the way you want it.
CS3, please. I haven't gotten around to upgrading to CS4 (too much money when I JUST did the CS3 upgrade, sigh) so keep it CS3 or earlier. Thanks!
I've made some more progress with mine, but I think I'm going to have to step it up and push through because time is running short already. Man, I have a lot still to do... I better get to it right this minute.

Ha ha, good stuff. I kind of like the close up of the OJ container in the other version rather than the not-really-different shot of zoomed in just a little a bit. I'd swap it back for the close up shot, but it's up to you. It seems like that variety of shot is stronger than just the medium close-up. Extreme close ups are always fun to add in to shake things up a bit. It might also be funny to have a little anime-like tear drop come down the OJ box when it's like "WTF?" (See below) Gives it even more personality.
Really good, though. It's definitely amusing and unexpected the whole way through. Your pacing is spot on to make it really hilarious.

I really liked it, though two quick things:
1) I didn't see anything with the theme word, which is Ring. I thought it was a great cartoon, but it's missing the theme! Still cool. Maybe you can add it to the background or something? Or have the giraffe holding a big ring?
2) I don't like the random text in the middle. I think it subtracts rather than adding to the overall toon, because it's so good otherwise that that part makes it feel unfinished. Maybe even adding a close-up of the characters or the juice container WITH the words will tie it together. Or not, just a thought.
Nice job, it really made me laugh. :)
If the FLA is too large to send, you can try uploading it somewhere online and sending me a link to where it's uploaded, then I can just download it from there.

Anyone is welcome to submit a piece for this, there are no set number of spots. If there are too many entries after the deadline (December 9th) is passed, there will be a vote by all the people who submitted an entry to see whom gets in the final. That's how previous 5 Shades collabs were run, and I'm keeping with the tradition. So go for it!
At 11/29/09 01:33 PM, tehtimmy4080 wrote: My flash is done!!! Now how do I get it to you/
Send the fla file to dm@fredthemonkey.com when you're all finished. But you do have a week left if you want to post it on the boards here and then people can give you suggestions to make it better. Up to you, just keep in mind that if you want to keep working, you have some time to. Send it along whenever you feel it's complete, though.
So no one misses it:
Again, send all completed FLA files to dm@fredthemonkey.com, Thanks.

Oh good. Yeah, the only colors you can use are the five in the pallet on the first post (and shown in my sig down there). White and Black aren't in this 5 Shades production. You can use gradients too, as long as they are from one of the 5 shades of orange to another of the 5 specified shades. :)

******OFFICIAL COLLAB ANNOUNCEMENT********
The new deadline for any and all entries is December 9th, 2009!
This should allow people a little more breathing room, because I didn't realize Thanksgiving (in the States) was so close to the actual deadline day. Often there is a lot of traveling around then. If you happen to be already finished, you can use this extra time to polish it up and make it even better!
Also if you'd still like to join in, don't forget this is open to everyone, all you have to do is submit your entry by the deadline to dm@fredthemonkey.com and it will be put into the final entries for voting on. (If there's enough room, everyone can get in without a vote, though there will probably still be one to determine order.)
PM me if you have any questions, or better yet ask 'em right here! :)
Wow, that's looking great, Nayhan. I love the effects on the whole scene. Let's see, story... I like your concept of him ringing the bell. What if it causes a bunch of other snakes to sudden rush over and they all start dancing or something? Kind of like a snake-call bell. Or... Maybe the snake is super long and could coil up (form rings) around the entire building or something.
I dunno, but you've certainly got a great start to go in a lot of different directions from. Should be cool to see where you take it.

Sadly it appears not, but if people were to send the files in it might be submitted if he got enough of them? Maybe?
I dunno.
But if you need a collab to join, I HIGHLY recommend 5 Shades of Orange. :D
After some story boarding, it looks like mine is going to clock in just under two minutes. Now to FINISH the darn thing.
And by finish I mean continue, since I'm no where near done yet.
I've been putting off writing the middle of this cartoon since I started, but now I'm almost at that middle. I know how it ends, I just don't know how much to put between the beginning and the end.
How long are other people shooting for? I'm guessing mine will end up around a minute and a half... Probably. Maybe. It would help if I knew what to put in the middle...
That's a cool idea, PharaohMan. I would have never thought of "ring toss". People are coming up with some awesome concepts. Keep at it!

I think we can manage. It will be in Flash CS3 in the end, but we can just convert it up and there shouldn't be any issues so long as you don't use any Actionscript 2.0. Welcome aboard!
