No, you and JKR were the only ones whose parts I didn't have any problems with. Good job!

Have a look at the credits.

Yay! I did something right for a change!

I believe I accepted the buddy request, however I had like 12 people on my pending list (people randomly send me requests when I've never talked to them in my life) so make sure, would you? Thanks.

Not to be pushy, but when do you think this puppy will be posted? I just don't want to miss it on the Portal, so as to vote highly of its majesty.

No rush, just let me know so I can vote. Also what icon are you going to use for when uploading? I've found proper icon choice is very important if you want more views/possible front page. Let me know if I can be of help.

Whoops... I didn't know I couldn't use pics. I guess it just fit the parody that much better. I could have done it via drawings of my own if I had known, I just figured the actual from-life pictures made it all the more horrible. It's satire at its best! Or... worst? I dunno.

Response to: What ways should i animate? Posted March 18th, 2010 in Animation

The best advice I can give is practice, practice, practice. And then, when you can hardly see straight and your hands are about to fall off, practice some more. That's the only way you can improve and get to that "This only took me 5 days" level.

I have an idea, just not sure if I've got the time to execute it. Busy busy... If I can manage, I'll send it along.

Happy groundhog day everyone!

its groundhog day right?

BLAST YOOOOOOOOOOOOU!

Ha ha, but seriously, that was an awesome animation. I hope it gets 1st for the day, it's deserving. (Though I kind of wish their arms weren't sticks.)

Response to: Collab partnership anyone? Posted March 17th, 2010 in Collaboration

Here's a tip from someone who's been there before: It's freaking hard to do. You have to stay on top of things constantly and whip everyone to meet deadlines. Then when they DO, YOU have to meet deadlines so it can be released, expecting things to go wrong with code constantly.

Anyway, good luck, just be prepared for a lot of work!

Response to: What is a good smoothness? Posted March 17th, 2010 in Game Development

It's really a very personal thing. You have to try different ones to see what works best for you as an artist.

It's a good start. I really like the character design of the first, larger guy. The other seems very plain by comparison, so maybe tweak it to be more extreme like the first. In the extreme long shots (where they are just shadows) you need a horizon line to anchor them to the stage. Just a simple line in the back will do, separating ground and sky.

Keep at it!

He's a talented guy, isn't he? Actually to my knowledge he doesn't have a NG account. He works with me on some Fred the Monkey stuff, and can be found on the Fred message boards if you'd like to ask him if he's got other things to show. I'll let him know you enjoyed his work, he'll be excited to hear it. :)

Maybe this will even make him do more here on Newgrounds, I guess we'll see!

uhh what? shouldn't it be five shades of green?

That was already done years ago. It has nothing to do with St. Patty's day. Just a coincidence that it released today of all days. ORANGE!!!!!!!

Bullshit. Working a lot on something you're "passionate" about is one thing, but being an over-achiever at school is something completely different. People don't do their schoolwork because they're passionate about it, they do it because they're jerk-wads who, honestly, don't have many better things to do in life.

I do my schoolwork because I'm passionate about it, but then, that's why I'm back in school after five years away from it. I didn't have this sort of passion when I was in my early twenties, but now I'm ready to tackle it and make myself a better artist as a result. A lot changes in the years after becoming an adult... But if there are under 18 year olds who have that same level of passion, man, it's going to be AWESOME to see what they accomplish with their lives. More power to them; the world is waiting for them to change it for the better.

Response to: The Flash 'Reg' Lounge Posted March 16th, 2010 in Game Development

I don't think there's such a thing as "over-achieving" really. If you're passionate about something, you improve as you work. If you work super-extra-hard, you just improve that much more. I did a presentation for class the other day, and it was far and away the best presentation of anyone in the group. I even brought in a guitar and sang at the end. Now, it could be LOOKED at as over achieving (I could have gotten an A in my sleep based on what other people did for this) but it helped me with my public speaking, and to have more confidence in my singing in front of others.

I don't even CARE about the grade (if I pass, I'm happy, be it an A or a D) but that kind of experience really helps you later in life.

Terribly, TERRIBLY sorry that I haven't released this via the portal yet, folks. I am begging forgiveness here, it's obviously entirely my fault. It seems like every time I sat down to put everything together yet another crazy event would take place to call me away. It's been a completely insane start of 2010 for me.

BUT, FINALLY, I am finished putting it all together. I kept having to go in and fix weird issues that popped up, so if something is off let me know and I'll resubmit it with the changes. I think it should go pretty smoothly though.

I plan on submitting the swf to the Portal tomorrow at around 9:30AM EST. I'll post a link here when I do!

(On a happier note, now that I've figured all this crazy AS 3.0 code out if we want to do a future 5 Shades I will be able to pop things in to the existing template and not have some crazy several-month delay! Yay.)

Since Christmas is a few days away, I'm going to put the collab up on NG either next week or at the start of the new year. I figured it would get lost in the hoopla of the holidays so it would be best to hold off on the launch of it. Just so everyone is aware!

Merry Christmas!

I might have exported it in CS4 format. I'll send it to you ASAP.

Awesome, thanks.

I was trying to put off getting CS4 because I feel like I JUST got CS3, and the freaking upgrades are just too expensive to do this every other year...

I do need Bogoblin to resend me his, though. For some reason it won't read the file type. Did you do it in an older version of Flash? That usually happens when people send me files from earlier than Flash 8. If that's the case, I'll need someone with Flash 8 to open it and send it to me as a Flash 8 file.
