hand is too small indeed, right ear is higher than the left, also: the top of his head/hair is too squarish I think.

You bend forward from your hips, the back should be only mildly arched. hope this helps,

yeah well, I didn't feel like doing hair. and the glassesare actually aviator goggles (wouldn't want your eyes to get watery from the wind, would we?)
So... now you have two threads in which you ask people what style they like best?
Why are you so dependant on the opinion of others, don't you value your own opinion? A style is not something you should adopt, it is something you should develop. Just start drawing figures (seems to be your main focus) while not paying attention what 'style' you use. When you have finished a few pics which you are happy with (or if you can't see what to improve/change yourself), post them in a thread and ask people what they think of it/what you should/could change.
Compare it to your own voice. You can do funny voices, or you can imitate someone else's. But at the end of the day these are not YOUR voice. Same goes with drawing style.

Thanks dude, you two monarch.
I agree, it is really cartoonish, although that wasn't intentional, it does make it a lot easier to draw. I could try to draw realistic (and I have tried before) but then I get something that is neither really realistic, nor cool. I guess I should practice but whatever.
yaha, finito.

The snow creator lives on the rock tablelands of the north. In absence of precipation the many geothermal springs offer the sole source of moisture for this creature. Like camels it has developed the ability to store moisture in the layers of fat, which also isolate the creature from the extreme temperatures it lives in. The mosses it feeds on are the sole vegetation capable of surviving the low temperatures of these barren regions.
Having no other means of defense from predators, the snow creator shoots a fine vapour from the nine holes on it's back when in danger. In the cold atmosphere this vapour immediately deposits into a dense snow granting the snow creator a means of escape.
Well, I immediately got to it, so here is the first WIP of my Snow Creator,
Having no other means of defence it shoots a fine vapour out of the nine holes on it's back when in danger. In the cold atmosphere it lives in, the vapour almost immediately deposits and turns to snow, granting the snow creator a means of escape.
I left the skeleton/frame in in this picture. I never used such an elaborate frame for a drawing before, so tell me what you think of it.
Also, is it perhaps too much like an Elephant?

Outta the box
Already had this one lying around, seemed a waste not to post it here.
It's a goldfish with a tomahawk (and gills)
I like number two best (esp. the full body pic)
that din't turn out that well, here is mine
sorry for the double post, but this way I get to draw myself!

So, It appears you'll have to make do with this for now. I'll be celebrating carnaval, and after that I'm going on a trip to germany. I'll make something new after that.

I'll be sure to check it out in the morning (it's 0:30 round here now)
Here is the horse-skull from a different angle, I was now looking straight at it. It seems that both sides are now okay, but they don't really match (put your hand over one side to see). Maybe I should draw outlines before I start drawing it, so as to get the proportions etc. right?

Hey richler,
I really like your concepts for monsters/wrong-doers/characters, but they tend to be a bit under-developed. It seems like you didn't put a lot of effort in your monsters. They are nonetheless pretty good, but I think you could make them even better if you put more effort in them.
I don't know if you know how to draw in photoshop, but perhaps you could try to take one of your own facorites and give him some detail and color. Or maybe you could approach someone to do this for you. I think I could turn some of your monsters in pretty good drawings pretty easily.

I wouldn't know, there is no text or mark on the tube they are in. They are about 3 mm across, I find them quite soft (but I have no real comparison material) but not so soft as to snap easily.
So, before I do the horse's skull again, I decided to redo the jimmy hendrix portrait from my first post. Consider it a progress report.
I'm still having a lot of trouble with the really dark tones, but this might be due to the absence of compressed charcoal (I'm doing everything with vine). Ah well, here it is:

Thanks, I guess that's the advantage of doing something new ; )
I think one of my bigger problems now (in the skull and the lamb) is the perspective; If I'm going to draw the back of the object (e.g. the skull) I tend to lean over so as to get a better view at it. However, this gives a disfigured image. I think I might try to redo the skull tomorrow from a different angle.
And here's a drawing of a plushe lamb (I'm kind of desperate for good subjects). The pastel paper really makes a huge difference..
ps. I'm making these pictures with my 3.2 mpx cameraphone, thus the rather poor quality.

Here's a picture of the skull itself in a slightly different angle and totally different lightning.
