Well, actually, I forgot to mention this before, but I'm gonna put them in a .fla so other people can use them for their flashes...does that make it have a point?
Also, I forgot something else, a new link:
Newgrounds font Might be useful for something, like your name in the corner...
On the last frame of your movie, put the following code:
gotoAndPlay(whatever frame your movie begins at, probably 1)
This code will not work if your movie begins in a different scene to the one that the code is in. If that is the case, then put this in:
gotoandPlay("whatever scene the first frame of your movie is on", whatever frame in that scene the movie begins, probably 1)
Make sure you have the " " around the scene name, and note that the scene names are case sensitive, so "title" won't work if your scene is called Title.
Hope that helped....
Welcome to the NG Intro Collab. All you have to do to join is make an introductory scene advertising Newgrounds.
Rules
-Include your name in the bottom right corner.
- Nothing lengthy. Nobody wants to watch a 30 second intro before a Flash, do they? Keep it under 10 seconds long. Anything longer will not be included.
- You can make up to 3 pieces, no more.
- No sprites
- Nothing that will make this anything other than 'Suitable for Anyone'.
- No sticks. I mean, no stickfigures. I suppose you can have small wooden branches if you have to, although I can't see why you'd want to....
-Try to make it as NG-like as possible. I don't want a pink dinosaur walking along carrying a flag saying 'Newgrounds', as that has nothing to do with NG.
-No Actionscript
Specs
-No required BA. It's not hard to make an effective intro. However, if I think it's REALLY bad, I won't include it.
-You can begin work now, and I'll finish accepting entries in a month from now, so that's August 30th.
-I've Flash 8, so no Flash CS3 files, please.
FPS: 12 (Default) It's low but you don't need a high FPS for an intro.
Stage: 550x400 (Default)
BG Colour: Black, although make your own.

I'll determine the co-authors by whatever 9 pieces I deem best.
I'll code the menu and whatever, but if anybody wants to make a preloader, contact me. Also, if you think you can make good graphics for a menu, contact me about it.
Contacting me
PM me. Simple as that.
When you PM me, send me a link to the .fla on the net. Do not ask me for my e-mail. I won't give it to you. Also, I'll only accept applications sent by Pm. You can post the .fla link on this thread, but PM me too. This thread is mainly for saying 'I'm in!' or asking questions, both of which you can do by PMing me too.
Useful Links
NG preloader download The static preloader has a few good sounds.
NG Raw Materials I recommend the Logo Variations.
Pico Day '08 Preloader Some very useful sounds there.
If you have any more useful links post them here.
--------
To get you in the mood, I'll include my own intro, watch it here!
Good luck!

By the way, you may say that I don't have a solo submission above 3.5, but I asked Kirk-Cocaine and he said it was OK, as my highest flash is only a collaborative effort because I co-authored my VA.
The below image is not for promotional purposes, I will make one of those later (unless somebody else wants to)
Thanks,

Funny how he started off with 'yo', like he was just addressing his mate, not threatening to kill somebody cos they made a game he didn't like....

That's really nice..Is it still your cat? If so, I think you might want to check if it hasn't been possessed by Satan...
Hope it's not too late to join..if not, here's my submission...
For better quality, go here.
I enjoyed doing the last bunch of sea animals, so I've decided to do a real animal that lives in the sea, the sea cucumber! I was thinking of making it like a cucumber by putting it hanging from a cucumber plant, or having it chopped up in a sea salad..but I chose against it (I couldn't be bothered)..I used a reference guide as a really loose reference. By really loose, I merely looked at it, made myself an outline of a shape similar to it, and got rid of the image..Enjoy!
When it comes to realism, I find it much easier to do it from real life than from a picture, and from imagination is impossible....
For cartoons, I like to draw from imagination, but sometimes a reference picture can help me for stuff like texture or whatever..But my cartoon reference images would always be photos, I'd never use another cartoon as a reference....
I'm not sure if that was the sort of answer you were looking for....

Eh heh I like the little blue one, looks like he has a flat nose :3
lol, yeah, that was originally meant to be just another drip like on the rest of his body, but it ended up like a nose....
I think you've just gotta keep practising man, try to churn out a couple of hands/faces/bodies so you can get your proportions or style right. I assume you're going for a more cartoony feel than realism?
If you're going cartoony, you get a little bit more freedom in the proportions area, but it still has to be awesome.
Keep it up.
Thanks. Yeah, I'm definately going for cartoon....
(Just gonna test the quote mechanism - forgot how it worked.)
testing quotes
testing quotes!
lol, they seemed to work....
There's not enough detail to make it look good...nor enough shading..just keep practicing,,
I prefer the elk to the dragon head, but it still needs colour....and shading...

Oh yeah, woops, I thought that that was the name of the page or something like that....silly me!
But yeah, it's a nice looking project, but you obviously still have a long way to go...the graphics look very nice, the sounds are a bit weird, they don't feel very Vista-like....put in a few more programs and it'll be a good submission..
Nice graphics, what's the password? Sorry if that was a dumb question...
3 pictures and 1 comment? Is my art really that average? Oh well, now for image 4...it's 3 little sea animals of some form..this one is a bit cuter (hopefully) than the 2 ogre-like beasts before, and the useless bird...Enjoy!
Comment more!
This is a very good picture, don't get me wrong, but what strikes me is that the little spirits are much too simple compared to the wizard, or vice versa, I haven't made my mind up yet...It looks like it was done by 2 different artists.
But very well done all the same. 9/10
I'm no AS master, but if you put a new frame on the MC, where the inside is a different colour, and put in a few gotoAndPlay commands somewhere....I'm not sure of the context so I can't help you much....
Well, now for the 3rd pic, and back to familiar ground with this one, with this beast behind the door...I much prefer it to the 2nd one, which was fairly bad...

First one was nice but very weird and goofy, the 2ed one was crap.
K, thanks, I kinda agree..tbh, I only did the 2nd cos I wanted to bump the thread...

And forgot image...typical....

Hehe, it looks like a plastic bowl with spaghetti in it! But an oversized, killer plastic bowl with spaghetti in it.
Awesome, and kinda random.....What a lot of eyes that guy (well, jellyfish..) in the middle has! I'll keep my eyes peeled!
This is my 200th post!
The one beside Blockhead to the right is Xombie, and the one on the left of Alien Hominid is Weebl, other than that, I can't help you, sorry.
I've just started doing art on Flash, as I was bored. I present to you this beast of some form. Constructive criticism or praise appreciated.
Then go to Tools > Options > Main. that should work unless Firefox is very different in your operating system.
Covert something to a symbol. Set colour to Alpha in Properties. Create a Motion Tween. On first frame of the tween, set alpha colour to 0%, and on the last frame set it to 100%. Hope that helps.
Maybe something like making the BA the 3 most recent Flashes, as that means that people can't just shove a few Clock Day submissions or collabs and rest on their laurels, and it also means that voting 5 on your own submissions for ages won't work very well either...
Check out some tutorials here. And practice lots.
Why has this just turned into a 'let's show each other our Start buttons' thread? Note that they are called Start Buttons. So he's right.
