Yeah, I wasn't actually saying it in real life, we were pretending to be nerds for some obscure reason....
How is one supposed to pronounce 'pwned' or 'pwnd'?
My friend says it should be said like poond, however I have always thought of it as pawned, like a pawn in chess or whatever..
Or is it just pee doubleyou en ee dee. I don;t think so, but anyway..
So how do you pronounce 'pwned'?
At 9/3/08 11:12 PM, kra-zgangsta wrote: Er, have I improved since my first post?
Yes, but still not amazing..
For the scribbles, maybe use thinner lines..
Use shading, but not too much. For the last picture, you didn't really shade at all, but in the one before that, you shaded loads, with the darkness covering most of the body. Definitely use shading, but when it comes to shading, less is more, IMO.
Hey, could you people review my (well, our) new flash, Newgrounds Intro Collab, if you want to...
Thanks,

Ah cool, I count as a popular artist now...No award though.. :(

Sorry, but when I look at it again, it just didn't look good enough.
3.42! YEAH!
OK Tommattox, your part is in..
Looking at my flash submissions, it has 3 reviews and 2 faves which I can't see yet..so either that's the members of the collab or it's going well..
At 9/3/08 04:37 PM, tommattox wrote: Nice. I voted 5. One problem. My part doesn't appear to be in the collab.
What? Oh shit, I'd should really check my flashes before I submit them..I'll get on it..
Vote whatever you like. I suggest 5.

I dunno, that's what it made me think..

Nothing....yet.
OK, I've decided that I'm gonna submit it..Just wait a couple of minutes and it'll be on the portal..
Hmm..I'm in a pickle.
Now seems a prime time to post the collab (a few of the co-authors are online, there are quite a lot of people online altogether, etc.) however I have not been confirmed as a co-author by Jeski yet. He was online, and sent me a PM saying that he accepts, but hasn't actually confirmed me on the buddies list.
So, thinking that maybe he didn't know that he had to do it, I sent him a PM explaining it to him, but by that time, he seemed to be offline.
Should I post it, and add him as co-author later, or wait?
Well, usually, one user sets up a collab, with the theme he has chosen himself. Note that the user running the collab must have a Batting Average of 3.5 and a solo submission over 3.5 too. Any users who wish to participate in the said collab will make a small part, often a scene, under certain guidelines (FPS, stage size, BG colour). At the end of the deadline which the collab starter had previously set, the parts are all put together as a single flash submission, and the collab starter adds a certain number of users who participated in the said collab as buddies, or co-authors. These will show up in the portal.
Sorry for the wall of text, and I hope I explained it properly..
There are too many AS tuts and not enough animation tuts on Newgrounds..
And maybe try something other than the normal 'bunch of text, press button to move to next bunch of text' type tutorial. Use images to help the learning experience and stuff like that..
Thirdly, use calm, simple music loops that don't distract you from the tutorial itself..
OK, basically, I've finished everything.
Except one. Co-authors.
I am going to add the following people as buddies and send them PMs, and once they confirm me, I'll upload The Newgrounds Intro Collab! In alphabetical order:
andy70707
a-s-h-t-o-n
DeltaPhoenix
Jeski
MrRandomist
Tommattox
yoshi77777
Now, I'm really sorry to everyone that didn't get a part, even though there are 7 co-authors, and I could have 8, but I feel that these were the people that stood out the most...
Some got co-authored for effort put into the intros, some simply for the quality of the intros, some for some other large contribution...
NOTE: If you are not on this list, it does not mean that you are not in the collab, purely that you are not going to be co-authored. Your name will still appear on the Authors page, which will link to your NG profile.

I love slowly watching something which started off as a simple vector line turn into a man walking, or whatever.
It's also nice to know that I myself gave someone, somewhere, a minute of enjoyment...
The lines look too thick in my opinion..maybe that's your style though..

I already downloaded it ages ago, so I can't use CS3 anymore...

Sorry, haven't really got the time to do something as small as that...I know that sounds oxymoronic (is that a word?), but it's true...
1. Find idea from wherever.
2. Brainstorm idea.
3. Write script.
4. Advertise for voice actors.
5. Hire Voice Actors.
6. Wait for VAs to finish lines.
7. Draw artwork for characters.
8. Animate first scene.
9. Draw more artwork.
10. Second scene.
11. Preloader, menu.
12. Credits.
13. Start rest of movie.
14. Abandon for a few weeks.
15. Remember that I hired VAs, and get back to animation.

Actually, it's not. It says 'Unexpected File Format", so I'm guessing you've done this on CS3...
Collab Compilation News
Oh. My. God. I thought that this would be a simple task I could perform once everyone had their pieces handed in. I was wrong. Well, I was half-wrong.
Basically, people don't read rules. The amount of intros I've had to put into Movie Clips is outstanding. To all those who did put your stuff in an MC, thank you SO MUCH!
Another one which is annoying is not naming symbols. I used to look at collab threads, and they'd say 'Name your symbols' and I'd think 'Why the hell should I go to that bother?'. I now know why. If anyone tried to look at the fla file now, they'd see a ton of symbols with names like 'gfhdh' and 'ytu3y45', just cos I couldn't be bothered to name others symbols. Well, and mine too. I'm guilty of this crime as much as anyone. I guess I'm used to working on my own..
Well, I'm almost done...
3 intros to insert.
Menu to code.
Artists page to design.
Artists page to code.
FLA to assemble.
Well, I'm almost almost done.

So does anybody have any idea what's wrong?
Whenever I install a font in C:>WINDOWS>Fonts, the font installs fine, no problem whatsoever. However, the next time I start up my computer, the font is gone.
This isn't supposed to happen, right?
Is there any way I can fix it?
Thanks,
~fish1892

This sorta thing has probably been posted before, but this is the first time I've seen no submissions Under Judgment.
OK, tbh, aiming for the Underdog Award is not really a good thing, because it's usually considered a bad award..However, the Review Crew (the best review score, no matter the score) would be a good award to go for...
Of course, I wouldn't turn down Daily 1st, Weekly 1st, Tank Award...
At 8/29/08 04:32 AM, A-s-h-t-o-n wrote: What do you reckon it'll score?
Hopefully we'll get over 3.0, but I doubt it'll score that high because it isn't very interesting, just a bunch of intros...It might get frontpage just cos it's to do with Newgrounds and it's useful though....
I won't be here until Sunday night now, so if everyone can pack up and hand in your intros, and I'll try to get this thing up by Wednesday or whatever, unless something bad happens with syncing or whatever...
You can't delete your account, but you can change the e-mail to something random, like hgrtfdu@yahoo.com, which frees up your real e-mail for use on another account. If you simply wish to change your username, you can PM Wade, although chances are he won't respond. He rarely does.
Well, I dunno how to answer your first question, but in terms of animating someone without drawing him again and again, I provide you with this answer: Just draw each body part, convert to symbol, insert keyframe, move each symbol a tiny bit, insert another keyframe, move it a bit again..etc. etc. Or you can put them on different layers and tween them..

If so, you could add some counter to show how many who downloaded the intros. (if you know how, because i don't...)
Sorry for double post, but the lack of edit button on the BBS has forced me to make a new post.
That post above me ^ was both the thread's 200th reply, and my 500th post...Sorry, but I'm a sucker for statwhoring...
