Is this the part where I get all emotional and try to defend myself?

Technically the guy in the original post didn't say he wanted to paint realistically, or 'draw' so. He said he wants to make a drawing look real, which is exactly what the jessica rabbit thing does. =\

Haha, awesome. :D ^5

Whoa, thanks for the encouragement. Yeah, working from references has helped me, I've started to do that more recently. I keep drawing at home too, I went into town and bought a sketchbook, and I can see from when I began drawing a while ago and the things I do now that I have improved.
Now that I can see I'm improving, I just gotta stick at it.
Hell yeah man! I have a wall of sketchbooks in order from 2000 to present day. 2000 was when I first started drawing, dude, it does great things for your confidence. You're on the right track.
The best thing you can do man is to just keep drawing. Never give up, even if you don't feel like it. Paint paint paint. I'd say paint from refs a bit, even though it's borrrring I know, it helps a ton. You don't have to finish them, and you don't have to post them. Just do it for yourself. Good stuff, keep going.
Dude, it'd totally be more easy to just grow your own real life bird.

A bit sloppy but you get the idea. Our eyes love heavy shadows, and I used 1 level of shadow here. Good luck man, keep up the hard work.

I wanna say that maybe you should grab a baseball or tennis ball, or better a hand ball and keep it aorund when coloring characters like this. They're round as hell and it looks a bit like your lightsource is all over the place. Think of each part of the character as a shape, his head, his body, his cylinder legs. And shade them all with the same lightsource in mind. I often draw a big fat arrow where my sun is so I won't/can't forget. Using a ball, just sitting on your desk for instance, and a desk lamp is a great way to get these shadows right. And don't be afraid of some heavy shadows., in fact, give me a sec and I'll do a quick painter over.

Rockin' work mike. Cityscape looks fantastic. Seriously, I have a half roll of quarters in my pocket right now.

I really love the criticism you've given my artwork. Anyways, I wanted to get some critique for this one. I'm probably going to change the background, but I just wanted some advice on the picture itself.
It's based off a character from one of my favorite noir detective comics. ^_^
Blacksad! I have all of the original printings and the sketchbook! :D Love that comic.
Pretty good overall, the bg isn't though. I'd lose the black, try a super dark brown with a leather texture or maybe some splattered ink or paint. Something gritty like the character and like the comic. Maybe some bricks. But a neutral color so it doesn't draw away from the character art here. Also, the weird light thing on his lip. I'd remove that too, good work though, digging it. Glad to see some Blacksad love up in here man. ^5
I contacted Wade about it and pointed him to this thread, so if any of you guys who are getting the popup could post your OS and version of IE it might help him out if he comes to look.
Stopping it locally I mean. It's easy to not get the virus, but the danger it shouldn't be left on the site.
Stopping it isn't really the issue. It's finding the source of it, if it IS NG homepage then it needs to be fixed before in infects more computer illiterate visitors.
I can't explain it but I just get more shit done if I sleep early and get up early.
Yeah I got this popup this morning, I have four pcs and only use IE on one of them, then I went and checked with the other machines on IE and same thing. All four of my computers do it, only on NG, and only in shitty IE. Firefox and chrome gimme nothing, all machines look clean. I'm pretty good about keeping them clean/fighting virus.
I feel a little better seeing other people report it as well.
The worst kind of arm.
Digging the pants a lot, but I always like tattered jeans. Killer dude. Good stuff.
Ah, shit that would have been a great plan. If we'd all gotten together and made five or six believable submissions saying stuff like that.
Oh well, man *wipes away a tear*
Guess we'll be seeing and hearing about more Egyptian stuff now that it is in the news. Maybe they'll make even more, quality family adventure films about mummies. *Pelvic thrusts*
I read the topic as 'Drawing Boobs' and man am I disappointed. D:
Anatomy = Anything by Bridgman, he has tons of books
The Human Figure = Anything by Vilppu, he is god
Perspective = Perspective For Comic Book Artists (trust me, it's good and correct)
Hope these help, I've learned more from these three than everything from Art School.
Another one, these are a bit old, I haven't done much sprite work since I discovered flash.
I have a pixel art page - http://www.lorestrome.com/pixel_archive/
main.htm - here
Tell your friends if they're ever looking for sprite resources. Free non-profit tiles and stuff there.
Some great stuff man, interesting. Those robot legs :D Very cool. the font is great too, I liked the caps better but it's all good. People don't realize how much work goes into making a great/readable font.
Laser, bro, those last two pieces are out of the park. I'm in love with the color choices and the concept of the skull dude is just great. Wicked stuff man. I'd totally stamp this work with my Hypto Stamp of Approval!
ie my penis
Great entires guys! Glad to see this collab still going. ^_^
