Started a picture of Tali and Garrus. Not sure how I'm going to position them in the picture yet.

Man I really dig your subject matter, haha. Some of your work seems way more hyper detailed than some of the rest, which is fine. It's just something I've noticed. And some of you basic roughs look way stronger than some others as well. The last one looks strong than the red masked one previously for example. It makes it difficult to gauge your 'skill level' I think you might be a tad better at rendering than you are at 'building' from scratch. You might do a few days of just anatomy building and stuff and see if it makes your lines and figures more confident?

Great stuff all around, hope you keep it up and keep sharing! Can't wait to see that Garrus/Tali picture done! Stay cool man.

I opened up the page in photoshop and just could be bothered.

Turned out wicked spooky dude, it might not look spooky just sitting there on the page, but if that thing ran up behind me in the dark and started rubbing one of its many peckers on my jeans I'd shit all over myself.

Thanks! And not really a study, I used a combination of references for the helmet, but apart from that it's just a drawing. A dude needs illustrations for his boardgame and I help him out. They're a lot of work, I'm not used to this type of drawing. But one learns! A little.

Damn girl you push a pencil well. Totally jealous. The caricature is slick. Reminds me that I should do more myself, they're great exercise. Keep it up!

Thanks dude, they're both from Fifth Element, although the first one didn't turn out looking very much like the girl. She was the president's assistant, had kind of a vulcan thing going on. The second chick was easier to spot because she's stunning, I'm also MUCH more happy with the second one.

I don't know, maybe buy me photoshop, then I can give it some pretty colors and some decent lettering, well, I guess I could do the lettering on paint......

You could cut the images into small chunks and upload those with the same dimensions you're currently uploading, and it'd be readable. But that's the least of your problems at this point, your skills are, and I'm being kind here, um.. 'young.' You've got some growing to do. That's good, draw away, draw draw draw, but also, work on some thicker skin. Man, we're being angels compared to how many people are. We're just letting you know that you're wasting everyone's time as is. Your own time included, champ. I can't even tell what I'm looking at, then what's the point?

Keep working, that's good, but also listen to people when they give you grounded advice, and also from people who have likely been working in the art and animation industry longer than you've been alive.

Yeah, as long as he's clear about sticking it up your ass then more power to him. Only the people who send it work have themselves to blame for getting ripped off.

Hell, it isn't all that different from contract work, 15% of the time I had to fight with a publishers for months or in one case, over a year, just to remind them they owe me money. I won't drop any names though. That's bad business.

Least he hasn't gotten bent out of shape yet for being called on it.

Great work guys! Some really fun stuff. The software does kind of push you towards platformers first thing, and then maybe shooters. It's good for building those kinds of games for sure. I look forward to seeing what they do with the software in the future. Right now I felt like I couldn't fully use a lot of the built in functions because I simply didn't know what a lot of stuff did. Trial and error revealed a lot, and dissecting example code from their database.

Also i loved when the 2.0 comed out becouse had some greater improvement. Stencyljam is a great idea to find others stencyl developers and see some great games made with stencyl (thanks Tom!). By the way, i think i'll partecipate with a game i'm working on (i can slowly go on due of the university study) but i hope that before the 31june is done. I'm happy to help anyone with some blocks info, or any other things. cheers stencyl :)

That's pretty awesome. I've never even heard of it before Tom made this post. There are some weird (annoying sometimes) little ticks, but that comes with any software. Afterwards I'd like to try to build some more diverse/different stuff. It kinda pushes you into making a sidescroller first thing. :P

I've noticed a significant portion of the available 'code' done by others either doesn't work, or I can't figure out how to make it work. I've had to build almost all of my functions from scratch. Which is probably better, but can be challenging when you don't know what everything does :P

Stay cool guys, keep it up!

Yeah, first tutorial and tools are kind of aimed at side scrollers. Which isn't bad, but I'm not surprised that is what we all jumped onto. I could see a lot of interesting applications for the software though. It's a lot stronger and flexible than I expected.

Here is an update, I'd love to hear what you guys think. I still have to fix the ducking, right now it isn't any smaller than standing, and he kinda floats. It is really tricky using the bounding box, I found you want it to remain exactly the same as much as possible. Some freaky stuff happens if you use different sized bounding boxes on the same sprite, like for jumping, standing, running, try to keep them all the same size I think.
