Some boobies. A lot of these sketches are for an upcoming project I'm horribly behind on.

Man, I'm eating up these graphic designs with minimal washed palettes. Those are fantastic man, the last one looks so official and professional. Really good work. I've always envied people who can nail that clean style. My own work is so rough and gritty and dirty. Some people say it is my 'style' but that is bullshit. It's because I lack the confidence to do work like you're doing there. Fantastic work, sir.

Thank you

Welcome! On the art forum as previously pointed out, people usually upload art. I myself only look at art here, I never even glance at the portal. I dunno about others, but welcome! And good luck with your artings!

Great stuff, looked at your other works on you gallery too.

Light sourcing a sprite is a tough job, because usually the light source changes and the 2d sprite can't (and shouldn't be expected to) update for it.

Looks like you're getting lots of feedback, and that's because the work is already good. Keep it up, I very much look forward to seeing more. ^5

Instead of asking for the bar to be lowered for more fairness...

I think people were more demoralized by them winning a third time in a row than anything. I don't think a single person suggested they be exempted. It won't be much fun when everyone gives up and it's only them submitting will it? You 'grow a pair' and take the attitude elsewhere. Almost everyone in this thread has been totally reasonable and has avoided confrontation. If you're happy, you should express it, if a majority is unhappy, they all should express it. It's not a crime to say "Hey, I didn't have fun this time."

Don't try to stir up the coals on a cooled fire, please.

The charity idea is great, I'm always trying to find a way to help charities with my work without directly taking money from my own empty pockets. :P

We regardless of how upset anyone got, I think by now we're all over it. It's a silly damn thing to get upset about and even myself kinda felt a tinge of 'why did I bother' at the end, and I don't know why. I really don't know why, it isn't the winning team's fault. They did a good damn job and no one will argue that. Everyone who completed something did a good job too just getting it done.

I'm glad to see that this thread didn't get nasty, this is why NewGrounds rock. People expressed discontent and weren't trashed for it, and they didn't get too bent out of shape themselves.

I for one will do the next jam no matter what, if ?I have the time when it arises. Good work guys!

Yeah, hell I wasn't trying to piss anyone off. Well, maybe Aegis, but no one else. I just thought everyone would randomly group is all, I've never done one of these before. So I was surprised to see such a classy production by a team that knew how each other worked. I might have tried to dig up some people I've worked with before had I know and tried to actually put up a fight. I guess I thought we were putting up a fight and then realized we didn't make it to the ring. :P

I certainly don't want to exclude anyone, that seems even worse. Then you'll ONLY have bad entries and it'll feel like a waste of time again. And I don't think offering more rewards is a good answer as that's just taking cash out of NG's pocket. The challenge and bragging rights really is good enough I think. :P

On CA they used to have these great art challenges, and the rewards on their were just trophies. Kinda like how NG does the daily rank trophies for game and movie rankings. Just my .02

This certainly isn't something worth getting mad about or letting one's self get upset, Jazza's Green Berets just knocked the wind out of everyone I think :P It turned into a Steven Seagal movie in here and we weren't ready.

Perhaps these really are dark days that we live in.
I don't really think ti's about winning money though, it's about getting recognition and getting your hard work seen. At least for me it is. Of course that didn't happen for me, lol. But whatever, it was a good exercise regardless.
If it's not about winning money, then why not name a second and third place winner anyway?

It's not much exposure if there's no attempt to 'expose'.

Well, that is what I was saying... I was doing to 'do something fun' on newgrounds and mingle with my peers, maybe get some exposure. I don't feel like I got the latter at all, but I'm sure Tom will front page them if they deserve it. I'm sure Jazza keeps winning these for exposure too. I also like to think that submitting content for fun still helps NG out.I don't know that it does, but I do it with that in mind.

It's also not fair for all the current frontpaged content that people spent months building to get bulldozed over a compo that took most the contestants two days to complete.

I'm just happy to see so many games completed, and paintings too!

To be fair, Hyptosis, you are, like, a professional artist and experienced flash game maker yourself.

Where does it end? Where does it end?

Maybe, I mean I DID still work with 2 other people I've never met before. But that was why I chose to do this in the first place was to meet new people and work with strangers. So I got what I wanted out of the deal. Nowhere did it say we had to form random teams right? Like a fool I just assumed everyone would.

Agreed.
And like I said, Jazza's been on the winning team of 2 other game jams.
I wouldn't have minded if he at least put places or mentioned any other smaller developer.
Ismel has a full for sale game out there...
I wanted to see how I stacked up against the competition without the heavy bias of the NG voting community.
Plus he posted like 10 art pieces...
It's almost as if Tom's forgotten about games, especially the little guys...
I hope Tom at least front pages other games...

Well it isn't important I guess. Everyone made something, and creating is what is important. I played every game, looked at every art piece. That's what it is all about, creating because we enjoy creating. Good work everyone. Keep on though! Conceive! Imagine! Fashion! Design! Forge!

Seriously, keep it up guys. ^_^

It's starting to get kinda...
That's why we need to go back to the format of random team groupings, or the kickball format.
Otherwise you're just gonna end up with a few powerhouse teams that dominate all other competition.
It's really quite uninviting when you see how unevenly the teams are stacked.

Yeah, I mean, Jazza did a great job, but I really feel dickstomped considering they're an experienced team with experience working together and meeting deadlines. Strictly coming from a mechanical view. I think you should wait on using any of the 'tools' in photoshop. You should in my opinion concentrate on one thing, and that is drawing, and understanding what you're drawing. Don't use smudge, don't use brushes, just draw buildings, trees, and people, and animals. Do this for 6 months, it'll be hard, and then try this picture again. I bet you'll be ready for the smudge tool and other things then. If you can draw on paper, do it, if you have to do it digitally, try using a simple round brush with pressure sensitivity on, and use black on white. Trust me, if you do this you will thank me, good luck either way! Go learn!
