Now, would I die for my country? No. I agree wholeheartedly with Scaletail (if I spelled that right!). This is hard, trying to remember all the points I disagreed with in all those responses, and how they were put. I'll try my hardest.

At one point, someone said, 'If you wouldn't die for your country, get the fuck out.' I remember Scaletail saying, 'Send me a check, and I'll be on my way.' EXACTLY. I've been wanting OUT of this country since Bush was elected. I knew something like this was going to happen, and I didn't want any part of it.

I'm against war, period, though I can see the reasoning behind defending a country. This, however, is not a war that we'd be entering to protect ourselves. War on terror? My ass. If getting rid of nuclear weaponry is so important to Mr. President, then I believe he should start with our own arsenal. The US does, after all, have the largest number of them on earth.

I would not die FOR this country. I would die trying to make this country a better place, yes. We are fighting terror with terror, really...it's like slapping a child while chastizing him, 'DON'T HIT YOUR BROTHER!' It's rediculous. Yes, something has to be done. But there are other avenues, I believe. What are they? Fuck, don't ask me. I'm not the goddamned president. I have a few ideas, but they might only work in a perfect world.

As for foreign affairs in general...someone in this thread stated that America holds together the rest of the 'corrupt world'. My GOD, I laughed at that. America puts it's nose everywhere it shouldn't be...and while Bush is trying his hardest to fix something on the other side of the globe, his own country is falling apart.

I've made this point before: George W. Bush is DUMB. Just plain...simple minded, and I can't help but feel sorry for him. The smartest thing he did was surround himself with people that are WORLDS smarter than him, and I have to admit that much of our problems are coming from them, and not necessarily the president himself.

TO THOSE OF YOU WHO THINK EVERYTHING IS JUST FINE: Open your eyes, and look at what's truly happening. Bush once said to the countries of the world, 'You're either for us, or against us.' How long until all those other countries see that for the threat it is? This isn't merely Vietnam all over again. This is much more dangerous, with nuclear and biological and chemical weapons at our fingertips. Millions of people may die. Innocent people. Doesn't that mean anything?

I think it's sad.

I think it's just another step toward taking away our freedoms, slowly but surely. I also think that one of the greatest things in the world is our anonimity, our sense of privacy and protection.

Sure, it may not seem like a huge deal. It's only P2P file sharing, after all. But it's the start of what? Something bigger, maybe?

I know, I sound like a freakin' conspiracy theorist. But it's scary to think about.

Also...the 600 files a day is MORE than fucked up. Seriously? I think the only way a person could honestly do that is if they had more than one machine working at the same time. And a lightning fast connection.

Get with it. This is a bigger issue than a lot of people think. No, we can't change what happened, but if we talk about what DID happen, we can possibly prevent it from happening again.

As for the rest of this conversation. I sincerely want to know how many people who bitch about Bush, or Gore, or ANY other politician....I want to know how many of you are old enough to vote, or how many of you are registered if you ARE old enough...or how many of you excersized your voting rights. This isn't a knock on anyone, really...I'm just hoping I'm not debating with a bunch of precocioius kids.

It depends on how it's used. I call my gay friends 'queer' or 'fag' all the time, but it's affectionate. Same with some straight friends, that call the same gay friends 'fag' or otherwise.

Honestly? I think it's all in the perspective of who's being called that. They have the choice of taking it how it is...as a joke or a term of endearment, or they can freak out about it.

I think what upsets me the most is the abundance of insults that people throw around, using 'FAG!' and 'UR SO GAY' as if it's a bad thing. Ever hear the John Lennon song, 'Woman is the Ni**er of the World'? That's what's happened with the word 'fag' or 'gay'. It's thrown around as an insult, and no one thinks twice, just like the word 'ni**er' was used. It's sad to think so many young people are so ignorant to that.

I just spent a few minutes going through the reviews of 'Silent Bob - Stoner'. Y'know, the flash movie that won Daily Feature. And it occurred to me that not enough people read the author's comments on the movies they vote on.

There were people asking 'Why didn't he TALK?'

There were people saying, 'The music didn't go with it.'

There were people commenting on the lack of plot.

If you don't understand the plot/music...go to www.apple.com/switch and watch any of those quicktime movies there. (The Ellen Feiss one is HILARIOUS...she's so stoned.) You'll get the 'plot' and the reason why that music was used as well.

For those of you too lazy to do THAT...it's a series of ads made my Macintosh to get people to switch to their computers. That's all...and 'Silent Bob - Stoner' was a parody of those ads.

Second...It's hard to believe that there's so many out there that don't know who Silent Bob is...but seriously. He's not supposed to talk. The institution of marriage was created for biblical reasons. A union of two souls in the eyes of God. THAT is why people get married, or that's how it used to be.

Now? It's sometimes for the wrong reason. I've been blessed, surrounded by good marriages and examples. My parents have been married for almost 40 years.

I do agree, however, that life with another person is possible without marriage. I believe it's something that shouldn't be entered into lightly.

Theologically, the problem with abortion isn't the baby, or where the baby ends up. It's the moral and ethical question of, 'When is it right to play God, and take a life?' Who are we to decide when or where or how a human life is taken?

That's the crux. But believe it or not, I'm pro-choice. Not for myself, mind you. I couldn't do that, because it goes against my moral and ethical judgement. But I'm not about to place judgement on others for what they do, and try to gauge where their eternal lives are going to be spent. The responsibility of that sort of judgement rests upon the shoulders of Christ.

I also do not think abortion should be made illegal. It isn't right to have our government tell us what we can do with our own bodies. And the bottom line is this: the moment abortion becomes illegal, the safety of a medical environment is lost. Whether or not abortion is right or wrong isn't the only question. It's whether or not we're willing to put the life of the mother in danger, as well. I personally don't wish to go back in time, to the era of coat-hanger abortions and women dying because some butcher tried to help her get rid of her child.
