Don't worry too much. Most people don't mind, or are even flattered if you want to use their music from the audio portal. As long as you've credited them, it's probably fine for the contest.
Don't quote me on that, though...
I agree, but the rules say otherwise.

I'm just gonna go ahed and quote NATA from page 1:

"The great majority of audio files on NG state that you can use them freely so long as you credit them in your animation, and also for "non-commercial" purposes. While a contest like this isn't necessarily commercial in the sense that you're actively selling and making profit from it, you do in fact have the potential to be making money while using someone else's music. It is courteous to include the music author in the loop because if they are aiding your entry's quality, then they may feel entitled to a cut of the prize you earn while using it.

If they do not reply to you, you can still technically use their music. However, if they decide to come back some day and aren't happy with not receiving a cut of the prize, then it is your responsibility to settle things with them.

I hope this clears up the "audio rights usage" discussion in advance that we have every year :)"

... Hopefully this helps ;)

Geez, I'm burning up! I probably wont make it to the 32 of the open round with this, but it's already been great! I so want to improve right now - so much to learn, so much time :D

Still, looking forward to see even more great animations.

Really? I haven't heard of that issue before before, I doesn't happen when I play the movie. Are you sure that it is properly loaded and all? I guess I'll just have to wait and see if more people have this problem and then look further into it...

There we go! It's short and far from perfect, but I'm just about ready to call this done.

"I'm just about done as well! I would really like to make a replay button and eventually a link button to my YouTube profile though, but I'm having a hard time finding a tutorial that works with my AS3 I'm no good at action scripting, I don't know what to search for or where to look. So far I haven't been able to find anything on the NG forum, nor via Google, but maybe I'm just doing if wrong. Anyone know a good tutorial for replay buttons and link buttons? Or maybe a customizable download if that's possible?"

- THAT is what I wanted to say. I have no idea what happened to the text there....

I have a question of no importance whatsoever! I know that DaveBruno won last year, but who was he competing against in the final? Is there a place where I can view what flashes that were submitted in each round TOFAs of the past?

Without knowing too much about NATA or anything, I'm pretty sure that it's safe to say that the answer is no - It's not much of a competition if you can just keep on competing after losing :)

Of course, If you make it to the top 32, you'll be able to join the next round as well.

I'm trying to throw something together as well, but I feel that I'm rushing it a little too much because of exams and I'm also a little uncertain about the simpe/naive style I've chosen for this intry and how to animate it most effectively. Anyone want to give some constructive critisism? :)

The only criticism I could make is about the pan across the doors is a little slow. Otherwise it's looking really good.

Well that's nice, thanks! :D
I'm just worried that If I make it faster, people wont have the time to read the signs, since it kind of introduces the idea of where the main character is. Maybe I should thing of something in order to make the pan more interesting though :/

I'm gonna try out for this too! I can see that there are a lot of talented people competing this year, and chances are that I won't even make it through the open round, but it would be a good expirience for me to work with a deadline. I learn so much for each project I work on, so how can I say no to this? :D

I have already made the storyboard and I'm currently animating. I'm not going to make a parody or anything, I want to try something a little different with no voice acting. Never would have thought that I would work on something sci-fi themed.

Good luck everyone, looking forward to seeing a lot of amazing animations!
