How about take a national survey? Seriously, guys. Why do we get hung up on semantics!!!! African-American, black, colored, negro, cracker, honkey, white, caucasian, Asian whatever. It doesn't matter, for crap's sake. But for the sake of convenience, how about calling black people black, or, if they prefer, African-(insert nationality here).

Its either gonna be a Nevile Chamberlain apeasment or a big ass fucking war. And Im not sure if apeasing a country that powerful is a good idea. Might set a scary trend and give them bad ideas.

Chamberlain fuck-ups are all too common these days. I would be really scared if China attacked Taiwan because Bush would say "Let's round up a posse, ya'll" and we'd have another Korean conflict-except with nukes, just like MacArthur wanted.

Very true. There's no way to prevent determined terrorists and criminals from doing what they want to do. All we CAN do is try to stop them quickly and minimize the impact of what they do. Best way to do that for this case is to ban assault weapons and other automatic weapons that were banned until 2004, when the Republicans in Congress decided NOT to renew the assault weapons ban of 1994.

Why isn't that an issue in the Netherlands? BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT regulates the pot! In America, it's sold by drug dealers who DO lace it with crack and the like.

How about gun control, folks? These kids stole weapons from one of their fathers, a Tec-9 AUTOMATIC weapon. Who the hell are they (the parents) to own automatic weapons!?!!? Who needs a machine gun, assault rifle or automatic weapon of any kind except for cops and the military? Seriously! It's not needed to have a M249 SAW to kill a deer which can just as easily be killed with a .30-06

Irrelevant

incredible achievement, no. Not at all, actually. They took advantage of a poor economic situation brought on by global economic depression and bypassed the Versailles treaty, which, we must note, was toothless-it had no methods of enforcing the provisions of preventing Germany from re-arming.

Because they are arrogent, they are stupid? That does not follow.

4.they are pig headed believing their"Race is better"
So what? British and American people were told they were 'better than the Hun' during the war. Even now, I believe the Americans and British consider themselves superior to the Middle Eastern countries, for no real reason.

6.they killed people in wars they started for no sane reason.
Technically the Allies declared war on them. Looking at Hitler's actions:
Austria: No deaths
Rhineland: No deaths
Sudentenland: Few deaths
Poland: Few deaths
WWII: Many deaths.

And how would you define 'no sane reason'?

No sane reason as in they wanted land and power and were friggin' anti-semites, homophobes and racists, I'm guessing.

Austria was willing. Rhineland was essentially willing. Sudentenland was pretty much willing. Poland couldn't do shit (they attacked tanks with guys on horses...), WWII resulted in millions upon millions of deaths. The Nazis started it by attacking other sovereign nations-namely Poland.

There's resentment towards us (Jews) everywhere! Would you guys have a problem if Israel adopted a policy of having everyone take an oath of citizenship at 16 saying that they would serve in the Israeli military (IDF) and if they don't want to take the oath, then they'd be deported? I think it'd be a legal way to move the Palestinians out of israel

Response to: China, A Military Threat? Posted December 27th, 2005 in Politics

China is not a military threat to the United States and allies (except Taiwan, of course.). All of these nations are too interdependent to go to war. Think about it! Where do your clothes, electronics come from? China! Most consumer goods come from somewhere in Asia, often China. We need their goods, they need our $$$ and intellectual capital. Problem is, if China attacks Taiwan, do we go in? I say no. The Chinese will not use nuclear weapons. No one will. Mutually assured destruction, folks. But if China attacks Taiwan, does the US honor its treaty committments? It's not smart to. We'd have to go to the UN, unfortunately and get something done from there. Damn, that would suck.

China doesn't present a threat. Though it has a big military with Russian technology, you have to look at the mitigating economic and social factors that prevent it from going to attack any American ally (or the United States) excluding Taiwan, as the PRC wants Taiwan back ASAP.

Mostly because the ones that we're fighting will be brought up on war crimes and the only ones that will be left will be the ones that publicly like America or privately hate us. The fact is that, when you destroy a country's infrastructure/economy, you get rid of the bad people in power by charging them with war crimes and sending them to prison or death. Whichever. And then, all you have left are the people who don't give a damn.

This probably won't happen with many Iraqis. Remember, in Japan and Germany, there was an educated class, infastructure and a willingness to improve. In Iraq, the educated class has mostly fled, the infastructure's been destroyed by the Iraqis themselves and there's a substantial amount of people who don't want to improve. This won't happen for at least 50 plus years. The reunion of the Americans and Japanese involved in Pearl Harbor could, conceivably, taken place 20 years after. We were all patched up because everyone came to a consensus that the attack was bad. When the Iraqis realize that the insurgency is bad and WORK ACTIVELY to improve their condition and we wait a couple of yeears, then, and only then, will we work together.

Russia? Positively? It's ruled by an ex-KGB autocrat who rules like a dictator. Then again, they do have the Baku region. Oil...*drool*. But seriously-America, Israel and other US allies don't view war as a blood feud. It's politics by other means. I forgot who said that, may have been Von Clausewitz, but I'm not sure. Anyway, think about Thomas Friedman's golden arches theory. Nations that have recieved McDonalds are sufficiently globalized. No nation, since it has recieved a McDonalds, has gone to war with another nation that has McDonalds. That means that there'll be no Sino-American conflict and stuff of that nature since we're so interdependent. Weird, but makes logical sense.

So, all in all, war is politics by guns (and missiles, and artillery and grenades etc.)

Response to: Religious astro-pyhisicist's Posted December 27th, 2005 in Politics

Personal opinion: God exists, 7 days creation is not literally 7 days. My basis for the God exists is that life is so complicated, there is SUCH an infinitesimal chance of those nucleotide pairs coming together just the right way, DNA coming to be, a perfect climate etc, that God MUST exist. God jump started it all-said "let there be a 'Big Bang'" or such. Seriously, though, science is coming closer and closer to the inevitable affirmation of the existence of a creator. Even Einstein was religious, he said something to the effect of the reason that he studied physics was so that he could come to understand God's world more fully.

Response to: marijuana Posted December 27th, 2005 in Politics

We must recognize, as with all drugs, there is an inherent danger. Marijuana is just as dangerous, if not slightly more so, than alcohol or tobacco products. Clearly, if those are legal, then pot should be legal as well, but merely sold by the government and taxed accordingly so as to avoid all of the problems of drug dealers and such lacing substances. I, personally, have no problem with pot, but I won't do it myself, as it's not only expensive, but can, and this is purely factual, cause brain damage, though only in higher doses. Look up the Shafer Commission (The Report of the National Commission on Marihuana and Drug Abuse-Marihuana: A Signal of Misunderstanding) report commissioned by Nixon in 1974.

Jesus was killed by the Romands because the Jews could not condem a man to death. The high priests were threatened by Jesus because he went against there way of doing shit (which was very much money-oriented), and in turn they handed him over to the Romans to be killed.

I'm not tacking a jab at Jews, I'm just saying the high preists caused his death.

WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!?!! THIS IS DENYING ALL HISTORICAL FACT! It is a KNOWN fact that Pontus Pilate, A ROMAN, not a Jew (as various Medival ballads state), was the instigator of the crucifiction of Joshua of Nazareth. So, we know that your Christ (I say 'your' Christ because the word Christ refers to a messiah as far as I know, and my messiah hasn't come yet, so there we go.) was crucified. Yes. Just a little background on myself: I'm a social liberal, yet an economic conservative. I'm a staunch supporter of Israel and I want to see what others think about it in general.

Big question here: Are the Palestinians distinct from other Arabs?

I would say no-as cultural distinction would be defined by distinction among customs, clothing, religion, language etc. The Palestinians are Muslims (in general!) with ethnicities stemming from Arab nations. Their clothing styles are no different from other arabs, as are their customs, foods etc.

Also, we all must realize that those who come here illegally often have no other choice and, of high import is the fact that they form a significant part of the base of the American economy-providing services that cannot be exported but otherwise would-gardening, manual labor, food service etc. Damn conservatives screwing up everything again for their nationalistic, KKK-esque "moral" values.
