This creature was a mistake from the natures side. It was a combination between the arms of man, and the body of fish.

I'd say do it!
Grab a colored pen or a crayon, or even some paint! Color and try to focus on where the light hits the shapes, and how to make it look real.

Try to look at your previous coloring. What was wrong? Why was it wrong? What should have been done instead?

Personally, I hate looking at my old drawings, I just find them plain ugly, but when I do, I often notice what I have done wrong.

Although I believe linart is essential, and can (and should) sometimes be left alone, but the same goes for colors, for example, that building, I think it would look great with some colors

I would recommend asking other awesome artists, how they do this, and how they do that. Ask ask ask and ask, find your own way to do what they tell you, develop a unique style, and gain confidence in your own artworks.

Also, show your stuff off. post tons of tons of your pictures that you've spent hours upon hours working on (okay, maybe not several hours, but you get the idea). Ask people to givi crits and comments.
