Yes.

So it's not an omega Falcon Punch!?!?!? The internet has lied to me again :(

Nowhere near.
It has always been "Falcon Punch" though the "THE" is added in front to distinguish between the two Falcons.

And no, Ryu Suzaku is not the current Captain Falcon shown in the games.

But the Falcon Punch still owned Black Shadow.

It should.

That of made a kick ass Falcon Final Smash, A FALCON PUNCH OF OMEGA POWER!

Technically it's the Reactormite Bomb that blew up, but the Internet has changed it to be "THE FALCON PUNCH" that completely overrides the initial explosion and causes the galaxy-scale explosion.

You mean Ryo Horikawa?

And you're missing the point; it's Tanaka's voicing that made the memorable scene of "THE FALCON PUNCH" (not to be mistaken for "Falcon Punch") what it is.

Though appropriate, I just cannot find anything special about Captain Falcon's Final Smash despite it being the only attack which triggers an FMV of some kind in-game. Though that's just the opinion of someone who watched Falcon Legend from Episode 1 to 51.

Yeah, 21's globe-trotting action/mystery twists make it quite the fun show.

If done by Yamamoto Kenji of Kiroi Ishi fame in Dynamic Studios... it'll be an instant best seller.

I did not think so, given Tezuka's occasional ups and downs when writing uncountable amounts of comics. I don't even think 100% of them are even recorded on one source.

So far it's pretty good. But I have do have a bit of a problem. In terms of character designs I much prefered Osamu Dezaki's way of directing Black Jack. The character designs just make the show a bit...too light hearted and a tad cutesy.

If you have read the comics, they would have been more or less the same style in the first place; possibly Makoto Tezuka's way of honoring his father's (Osamu Tezuka; better known as the God of Manga) debut 30 years before 2003 (when several animated Tezuka Works aired on TV).

Don't forget that the OVAs and Movie by Dezaki are all original stories without borrowing too much from the books.

It cannot be helped; since they are aiming at a younger audience with a TV release unlike the movie and the ten OVAs by Dezaki.

Though in the same style and art direction, Black Jack 21 certainly feels darker but at the same time does not leave out breathers for younger fans. But hey; a medical story turning into something out of a James Bond Final Hour event makes the Epic Doctor Story all the more enjoyable.

Speaking of Dezaki works; his version of Air (Movie) did make me go D'AWWWW near the end.

I don't really get that, especially as the main series took it to avoid tits all the way through.

But was it done so in bad taste like oh-so-many "Milking Shows"?

I am guessing they were not on TV so they could do anything they wanted or something.

The gun in the photo is an airsoft revolver by Marushin.

The reason why I bought it in the first place was because of its non-typical appearance (or as some of you may say; looks something designed by Nightow or Masamune) and because it has a realistic reloading method instead of the chamber being a "Magazine" for holding several rounds.

The speed loader shown in the photo, however, is the real deal.

Speaking of Handguns, I want this, even if the magazine system is different from the show.

Finished Madhouse's run of Akagi and at the same time started learning Mahjong from a friend to play with parents and relatives in the future. Pretty fun game, though it's hard on the senses for beginners.

Also re-watched City Hunter '91 and bought the original comics for direct comparisons. It's just as I thought; Jump has gone softer these days by a big difference.

Also took out this beauty from storage and even bought a little extra for it.

I know some of you have started as well, but if not, find a chance to start Macross Frontier.
So far, Satelite has been doing a beautiful job with the animation and the screenplay is certainly on the high-tier of animations to-date.

One of the key aspects which caught my attention is the debut of Megumi Nakajima; the voice actor of Ranka who provides both her singing voice and her normal voice; an uncommon combination. Fans of Macross from over 25 years ago would recognise this move as this was the same case for Mari Iijima who voiced Lynn Minmay (Chinese: Ling Ming Mei).

I expect the best dogfights and action that the Itano Circus (among many other things) has to offer.

If you are watching this during the actual time it was aired once a week, the two-part episodes near the end would leave you frustrated until it concludes.

Though that would be because I look for everyday police-related action and fun in this kind of series since that is the biggest attracting point during the time I first watched it.

But yes, you're right. First series if I remember correctly.

Been wanting to see it for a while now, but a handfull of over-priced box sets have prevented me so far though.

Here's the breakdown for you:

First Series: Mostly single-episode fun action. Highly recommended.
Season 2: More serious character development and events. Works better with an audience which prefers linear episode viewing.
Full Throttle: More single-episode fun. Most recent release which finished airing not so long ago.

And just looking at your posts, you've grown.

Fixed. Don't make this mistake again. <_<

At the time, Ocarina of Time had the strongest lasting impression for me, mainly because it was down-to-earth story retelling and gameplay that macthed. After I played it for a few hours straight, I realized why it deserved the 40/40 from Famitsu (OOT being the first game to earn that score).

Twilight Princess has a lot of lasting impact on me as well. The smooth gameplay and combat features expanded on the epic feel of the game. Now if it was only much longer and had a stronger sense of a large war instead of a one-Hylian army.

The capabilities of the Gamecube should be able to support the extra distance of having Sangoku Musou-esque battles of countless enemies in all directions, but it's too bad it didn't have it.

Putting aside that Opinion != fact unless quantitized from a decent-sized population. Let's not forget at the target audience and genre specific shows aim for. Someone expecting lots of sex jokes would statistically have a better opinion of a show filled with them and so on.

But I rest my case; a proper way to identify good jokes from stupid ones are hard to put in words but easily identifiable when watched.

Now mind you, I for one can laugh my ass off at some stupid shit but enjoy something thats a real master piece.

At 5/5/08 07:51 PM, Gendo wrote: I don't really have a clue.

I am more than certain that you and some others have arrived at this conclusion; it is the typical sales-driven reason that Shonen Jump and other serialized comic compilations (Other examples: CoroCoro, Young Animal, etc...) have.

If a story has caught customer attention, it would be plain common sense to drag it on for all it's worth while, at the same time, trying to maintain the quality and feel of the series. I have not worked for said magazines myself, though I am sure that they have some form of contract.
Artists who are just starting off (such as Kishimoto Masashi back in late 1999) are not likely to have a full storyboard or script in mind to work with so they would have no idea when to stop or how to self-propose a contract.

From a personal perspective, it only makes sense to have a renewable contract to maintain a source of income, unless one has a backup plan to sustain themselves (another contract outside their current company, for instance). The economy in Japan is extremely competitive and it would be no surprise that those responsible for JUMP and the like are pressuring artists to keep with them or lose their job to another willing candidate.

In these cases, the deteoriation in quality of some comics will become noticable over time or even overnight for all kinds of reasons (personal, social, etc...). The same applies when profits are attempted to be made through animating a series or through games and merchandising. As we can tell, the quality of most 'dragged-on' series are questionable, especially if they are leaving the job in the hands of not-so-well-off studios like Pierrot (as opposed to, let's say, Satelite or Madhouse).

Of course, this is just a generalization and exceptions are not only possible, but welcome.

Long story short: It is a shame and a disappointment to see initially shown perfection and style become ridiculous and outright stupid over time.

Even Twilight Princess lacked the extra oomph (namely the "beyond current ideas and concepts" feeling) that OOT has. Not to say that it's a bad game but it was just released a bit too late.

However, the way they set up the final battle made it epic enough to get a 10/10.
