I've already made a point of this, but I guess you didn't bother reading the thread.

In 2006, Paris was nearly ripped apart in riots spurned by the culture clash between the French and Muslim cultures. Now, whether or not either side is at fault is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is that the tension in France can still be cut with a knife. With such a culture clash that could erupt into even more widespread riots at the slightest provocation, France has every right to side with its own culture.

Given that, France has every right to deny citizenship to people who are unwilling to even attempt assimilating.

If Paris had been on the brink of collapse due to an outbreak of chicken pox, I would agree with that decision.

Here's where I think the hang-up is, not just in this debate and seemingly every debate that springs up about drugs on the BBS, but in America in general.

Legalizing drugs will not legitimize them.

Drugs will still be bad if they're legal. Nobody is saying that drugs aren't harmful. There are million dollar ad campaigns pointing out the harmfulness of tobacco and alcohol. Prostitution is legal in Nevada, however, it is still looked down upon, if it's your inclination to hold the moral high ground.

Just because someone is for making something legal doesn't mean that they have to endorse it. I believe that tobacco should be legal, but I think smoking is disgusting. It's not a mutually exclusive sentiment. I think prostitution should be legalized, but I think the idea of paying someone for sex is degrading to both parties. Still, if that's what people want to do, they're going to do it.

Hebrew and Greek have similar problems with the different meanings. Yet, you don't hear nearly the drastic changes you hear with the Qu'ran. I'm assuming that it's because the violent sections of the Bible are written off already, so it's not a big deal that the Bible tells people to stone adulteresses, because that part doesn't apply anymore.

The Qu'ran doesn't really have that benefit.

The one I like si that instead of getting 72 virgins they end up with a bunch of grapes.

But yeah, another is that instead of a veil, women should wear a chastity belt or there abouts.

That's bullshit, of course. You could translate a book to mean a lot of things. That's why translators are paid pretty good money to actually understand the context of what they're translating. They don't just run it through Google translator.

Once again, as with Christianity, they play the deflection game where, if you ask them "what does your book tell you to do when someone tries to leave Islam?" they will just try to change the subject because they know as well as we do that it's not a matter of "interpretation".

Or it's a translation issue.

If you can translate Dostoevsky and still maintain his subtleties, then how hard is it to translate "if this happens, do that?"

Might want to lean up what you have going on in the background. Look into the processes and kill anything that's not really crucial that's running under your user name. If you know what you're doing, get HijackThis! and kill off some processes that way. Might help free up a little more system memory.

Has everyone forgotten that a conflict of the two cultures nearly tore Paris in half? I think the French government is doing well to bottleneck the influx of Islamic culture. When it comes to preserving your own culture or having your country erupt into civil war, which side do you think the French government is going to take?

Seriously, for all of this bullshit about respecting other people's cultures, how about you give some respect to how the French are handling their own internal affairs? Would that be too much common sense to handle?
